Ahhh… My favorite Gorilla vs Gorilla matchup.
But who IS the better Gorilla?
Both characters despite well… being gorillas and having very high damage, both are quite different in terms of strengths and weaknesses (apart from damage)
Slayer is extremely lacking in defense because he lacks a proper back-dash and has no meterless reversal.
His mobility isn’t the greatest and he has a very linear neutral.
However he more than makes up for it with his absolutely insane damage and pressure, leaving some people who play low heath characters questioning their life choices after they get 80% of their health erased in 4 hits.
Sol on the other-hand lacks in range and has a terrible time with zoners and he has kind of mediocre mobility.
However just like slayer he has high damage and great pressure. Not as insane as slayers but still enough to make people question their life choices after being counter hit once…
However unlike slayer, Sol has great defense because he had a meterless reversal (which did recently get nerfed but is still really good) and a back-dash.
Both characters are very strong in their own right but I think overall… Sol might be a bit stronger because he’s a bit more well-rounded. And not to mention Sol made it to Grand Finals at EVO…

i dont think any slayer mains even went to EVO. All the people who played Slayer played him once, then dropped him for their main immediately.

“Terrible time with zoners” is a bit of a stretch. Sol has multiple neutral skips from different parts on the screen, with them being able to be tricky unlike Slayer’s more linear approach (things like charged bandit bringer to fake out 6ps). Sol also calls out some zoning excellently with vortex, and finally his array of advancing normals place him in a better position than some of the cast.
In fact, the reason why Sol is arguably top 1 (was pretty much straight up Top 1 before DPRC’s removal) is because he doesn’t really have weaknesses. He has monstrous neutral, the best defense in the game, some of the highest damage in the game, screwed up mix, an untechable command grab and neutral skips that lead directly into RPS or mix.

I hate slayer so much. One of the least cool characters in the game imo, his combos are just cS - command normal - pilebunker (this can then be looped like 3 times)
