    I already play good at air hockey at the arcade to the point I stand out and often get open challenged
    I use my own gameplay and when it’s adults I analyze and learn theirs
    Often I will do a few of the things:
    1. Hold the mallet the way most people do simply cause that’s my play style and I switch it up to the other way around to put more power on a shot mid-swing
    2. I purposely create rally with myself to confuse the opponent
    3. I slam the puck against the wall at points to induce a heavy sense of friction
    Any other advice?

    • @blaze_tron8241
      @blaze_tron8241 2 года назад +4

      yeah i made it to my school and regional finals and won with holding the mallet normally but yes that is a good idea of style. I use it to

      @@blaze_tron8241 Niceeeee, I changed it up now and the best strategy is *practice*
      I treat hits as punches (straights-Jabs, banks-hooks) and it’s helped incredibly. I can Van Halen it (both hands) and I’ve also beat a former world champ. *Practice is one’s best friend*

      @@Ace_729 I played against this robot and beat it 5-0 in air hockey. It’s weakness, like most people, is when you hit it at a certain angle on the left side of the wall that it bounces fast and hits the side of the goal just so it goes in. For the other person it goes so fast and is too hard to react. I remember one guy tried to 1v1 me at the arcade confident that they’d win and they got thrashed.

      I kept a 100 win streak a while back at my town skating rink

    • @Ace_729
      @Ace_729 Год назад +2

      I completely switched up my style and it’s got me an ongoing 52 game win streak. I start left handed for testing out players, and when I use my right hand I go crazy. If they aren’t good usually my straight (relatively my most efficient move) gets them 7-0’d. If they’re good I got a bunch of alternatives that gradually degrade the mental state.
      1. Faking a bank shot to put spin on the puck sending it straight
      2. Banking it early off my own wall to hit it closer to the line
      3. Random straights
      4. Hitting it closer to the line to throw off timing
      5. Hitting the sweet spot bank (not very reliable at it tho)
      6. If all else fails I just resort to puck control, if I hit it then it must come back so I can go offensive again. Just playing keep away basically but it takes a lot of patience for me to resort to it

    Hey Colin Cummings, help me understand the "charging" rule, as in, me, the defensive player, hitting an opponent's shot right back.

    • @Airhockey1
      @Airhockey1  2 года назад +6

      Hello gggnumber1! A “Charge” in air hockey occurs when the defensive player immediately hits the puck back towards their opponent right after the offensive player hit their shot. A “Charge” basically just means forward motion on defense, as opposed to standing still or retreating. If a player hits the puck off the table while they are “Charging” then the puck is given to the opposite player, and the game begins again from there. If the puck goes of the table while the defender is static or retreating, then the puck goes to them since they didn’t directly cause the puck to fly off the table.
      I hope this helps! Good question, let me know if there’s anyway I can help clarify :)
