Tarja will forever be known and widely loved as the founding member and initial course charter (the siren) of NW who made them famous without without constant youtube paid promotions.... and delightfully sets aside a few songs per album to stick it to Tuomas ... NW did not get a shot in the arm until a few years ago when the 2013 wacken concert was splashed all over youtube...and with this new album, their fate among non-diehard NW fans is very much in question
@@dromertv463 Um... Their last few album sucks so idk what you talking about. People only watch to hear how Floor sing the songs of the Tarja and Annette era. Lmao!!
Hmmm very good idea. I thought maybe it's narrated from Tuomas' perspective, accusing her of marrying her own hell (Marcello) and also of being a diva. But I rather like your interpretation
A marriage can also be a contract or agreement. In my opinion this refers to tuomas handing over control of his band to Ewo, Peiju, and Finberg in 2000. I don't know whether you know the story or not, but back then tuomas got pissed off at the original bassist Sami Vanska. It's said that sami lost interest in the direction the music was headed in and started showing up late for practice. Anyway, tuomas got pissed off at him and instead of reacting rationally he just up and fired the entire band coompletely disbanding nightwish. At this time Tarja was away in school, in germany I think. He didn't even bother to tell her, no phone call, email, txt message, not even a letter. She had to hear it from friends and the media. imagine that! Being the vocalist in a band and the so called leader fires everybody and doesn't even have the decency to tell you. That shows that there were already huge leadership and communication issues in this band even way back then. Furthermore, it shows that Tarja was not to blame for those issue, but tuomas total lack of leadership ability was. Anyway, back to the point. After taking this drastic action tuomas goes off hiking in the lapland which is a remote part of Finland from what I gather. He goes off on this escape into the wilderness with his best friend Tony Kakko. During the couple of weeks they spend out there, Tony is able to talk tuomas out of his decision. So, they return and tuomas reforms the band. However, this time he puts his drinking buddies Ewo and Peiju in charge of the management of the band. Ewo's first task as manager is to fire sami with a letter written by tuomas and he does. Later on the Infamous John Finberg gets added to the mix. In my opinion, these are the "rats on board". Like tuomas they are heavy drinkers and according to accounts of some. like Emppu, they were more interested in drinking and partying that anything else and were grossly incompetent in managing the band. Ewo was also a representative of the record label and was employed by them at the same time as being the manager of the band, which is a huge conflict of interest. Emppu also made statements about this as well. Later on, he did resign his position at the record label but for a period he was actually supposed to be representing both at the same time. Ewo was a big player in what happened with the tensions and disagreements that led up to what happened. He hated Marcelo because Marcelo who was older and more experienced in the music business often made him look bad. I believe he and his colleagues knew that tuomas was jealous of Marcelo's intimate relationship with Tarja and that he exploited that and leveraged it against both Tarja and Marcelo. You see, there were other players in this whole thing, apart from the band members who were involved and played a big role as well. Think about rats aboard a ship. They are scavengers who feed off of the cargo and supplies which are there for and as result of the crew onboard. In that way they are kind of like parasites. I think a good argument can be made that the nightwish management team tuomas handed the band over to was like this. They didn't actually play a role in producing the music but they fed off of the profits.
I know this is rather long and I hope I'm not stretching your patience. That's why I'm breaking it up into 2 parts. Anyway, continuing in this discussion of why I think "you married your own hell" refers to tuomas handing the leadership of his band over to King Foo. Here is a quote of Emppu from their very own book "Once upon a Nightwish" that talks about the management tuomas handed control to. He also talks a bit about Marcelo and the contrast between them and the differences in the way they handled things. Emppu from Once upon a Nightwish pg 291, 292 [Quote] 'Sometimes I get the feeling that the most important thing for our managers is to get on tour and party, and the practical arrangements take second place." "If they'd concentrate more on all the little details, everyone would have it better on tour." "Take the US tour, for example-we were obviously there for the first time, so we couldn't demand a whole lot, but the fact there wasn't even a shower at the venue is sure to piss you off. It's the manager's job to see that we don't play at a place like that." "Cabuli was more precise, and as far as I can see, he always did all the things he promised, even on the road. If something was missing from the venue, he would go and shake the local promoter a little. But Ewo and the rest were just like "Yeah yeah' Then the band had to suffer from that. You could be sure that the drinks were always there, but the rest of the things weren't handled as promptly." "Our first recording contract was what it was. Cabuli has been useful in how he has always looked through the contracts, seen to it that there are no loopholes- even contracts that King Foo had already OK'd. He'd also gotten our percentages higher than King Foo did, so Cabuli has been more of a businessman than they have. If he'd had a chance to handle things himself, some things might be better" [end Quote] pg 291, 292 These are the words of Emppu. Notice this line . "You could be sure that the drinks were always there, but the rest of the things weren't handled as promptly." That's why we have the voices of 3 drunk rats in the background of this song. Also notice how he talks about how the band had to suffer as a result of the fact that "the rest of things weren't handled promptly". Tarja suffered most because some of those things like security and having food to eat and the right food were more significant for her. Things happened to her in Guadalajara Mexico because security wasn't promptly taken care of. Food was also a much bigger issue for her because she happens to be diabetic. When you're diabetic, you have to take insulin because your body doesn't produce it on demand as needed. Along with this you MUST eat. If you take insulin, then don't get to eat or don't get to eat on time, you can quite literally die from it. So, you see when she didn't get food, or the right type of food, it was a very serious issue for her!
I disagree.. the line is more likely to be about tuomas. It's right there with "i don't mind all the burning daggers piercing me, shaping me, turning the blade on you" In the end yes tarja strugled (and still is) with the bad image the open letter gave her, but in the long run it was tuomas and the guys who got the worst part. 10 years later and 2 singers dismissed in a very questionable way has people wondering if what this guy says is actually true, now we have interviews with tuomas going publicly "i'm not a tirant". Also...just remembered there's a line in the nw movie when "thomas" daughter (gem) accuses him of being to full of himself all within his own mind. "The band, the tours and the money it all seemed to be more important to my dad that anything that had to do with me or my mom... and even when he was at home he was always lost inside his own mind" so, that tells us. Tuomas also aknowledges this to a certain point, also there's old interviews with tarja and she openly says tuomas is always too lost in his own world.

I just don’t understand why can Tuomas wife be his muse, why he “want his tears back?” Why is so obsessed with that feeling I had about Tarja? 75% of nightwish lyrics are made of love/hate to Tarja, but there is not a single one I can see for his wife, maybe slow love slow but I’m not so sure. I think something big (I don’t know what) happened there but Tarja has many songs inspired in nightwish too.
slow love slow is part of imaginaerum the movie, it makes a reference to the movie in the song "come and share this painting with me the poet that never failed" the movie it's basically about tarja's dissmisal and tuomas and "nightwish" suffering losing the wife and mother of gem. About johanna his wife i guess that sort of of feeling tarja caused in him is or was once in a life time for him (i know what i'm talking about). so yeah. no saying he doesn't love her but his inspiration lies in the hurt and loss of a platonic feeling intead of a the fulfillment of his marriage

Man 1 is tuomas, man 2 emppu. The second time that we hear "not sure about it "is the 3 man(jukka) and the one talking about beer and vodka is marco Emppu and jukka are saying not sure cause is a way to say they meant nothing in the bands important decisions Thats disgusting tarja
No, the voice are tuomas and the nightwish managers, Ewo and Finberg. And it's a true and accurate representation of their behavior. In their very own book, Emppu talks about the management of the band and how their primary concern is simply drinking and partying all the time and not taking care of practical arrangements. See page 291, 292 of their very own book. You will find this quote from Emppu. [Quote] "Sometimes I get the feeling that the most important thing for our managers isto get on tour and party, and the practical arrangements take second place." "If they'd concentrate more on all the little details, everyone would have it better on tour." "Take the US tour, for example-we were obviously there for the first time, so we couldn't demand a whole lot, but the fact there wasn't even a shower at the venue is sure to piss you off. [Quote] Emppu pg 291, 292 Once upon a nightwish This is the words of Emppu telling us exactly the same thing. He's telling us the bands management is a bunch drunks who only care about partying and not doing their job.
In my opinion, Emppu's the most polite member of NM 'cause he does his own thing and doesn't participate actively into the band's dramas & troubles, that's really smart from him.
HOMBRE 1: Is this garbage bag big enough? HOMBRE 2: Not sure about it. HOMBRE 1: How much we got? HOMBRE 2: Not sure about it. HOMBRE 3: Hey! No beer, no show! HOMBRE 1: Should we check some page instead? HOMBRE 2: Hah, I prefer to play here naked with you. HOMBRE 3: Why is all vodka gone? Where is my vodka?!
Sorry, I don't read pink tabloids. On the other hand, if she would have overcome NW, she wouldn't have released the song or at least she would have changed the lyrics. But she didn't. Therefore, here we are.
@@mr.maulen6577 Besides the meaning of the song. I feel like it doesn't exactly fit into the sound of My Winter Storm or What Lies Beneath and I think Diva was written around the time those albums were created and released though
If ever there was a song that confirmed some of the sentiments and statements in the original public rejection letter signed by all the other band members of nightwish - this is it. Musical content, and delivery = well done. Enchanting verse and chorus melodies, executed as only Tarja can with her gorgeous voice. Lyrical content = From Hell's heart I stab at thee? Diva - as defined by urban dictionary - 2nd definition. Nightwish isn't sinking, she doesn't "hold the key", and the rest of the lyrical content is nothing but an ugly narcissism expressed in a beautiful voice, which mars the whole thing. Thumbs down.
In my opinion, it is more like Tarja now walk out of her past and all the drama. I think she is trying to say she is not part of the 'drama play' anymore, as 'the ship is sinking' and 'the curtain fall down'. The ship is not Nightwish, but the story they wrote about her. Because the band Nightwish is not the cause for her to doubt about herself, it is what they said about her hurt her a lot. And if you watch the interview clip when she just got fired, there is a part she said that she would question the reason they did that to her forever. Now she over come it, so she write this song. By the way it is just my opinion :)
The only thing this confirms is that the nightwish leadership is a bunch of dishonest lying drunkards and that's the truth. It's the truth because there's tons of evidence to support it to anybody but the brainwashed die-hard nightwish fan base. That evidence not only exists is the dishonest underhanded things they did to try and slander the character of this lady but also in what they did to their next vocalist, who replaced her. Then when they fired her they even tried to lie to their fans about that and at first claimed she left of her choosing. When they first fired Anette they tried to deceive the fans into believing she left of her own accord. However, she spoke out in a Blabbermouth interview and told the truth that she was actually fired. At that point they couldn't keep up the lie, so they changed their story and admitted they fired her. Anyway, this shows their dishonesty . Then there's their fake "Indian" John Two Hawks. Remember him? Did you know he's really just a white guy with a tan whose real name is John Allen Hill? Did you know that poem he wrote that's in the song "Mary Creek's Blood" which is supposed to Lakota is really just a bunch of nonsense gibberish? It's the truth. Don't believe me? Google 'John Two Hawks fraud". The whole thing was another nightwish lie. Some native Americans even started a thread about this in the nightwish forums and provided links to experts who denounced him as a fraud. What was nightwish response to this? They had that thread closed and buried. However, if you do that google search you can still find cached remnants of the thread despite nightwish's attempt to cover it up. Want another example of a nightwish lying to their fans? Remember last summer when john Finberg said some outrageous things on his facbook page about Greece, because of their economic issues and the fact he feared it might cost him a few bucks of profit from the upcoming shows the band had there? Remember how the band tried to distance themselves from him whenever that story broke and fans in Greece became angry about it. The bands response was that Finberg was not a "manager" but was only a booking agent for them. Well, I can provide you with links to at least 2 interviews that happened prior to this where Finberg himself, with his own mouth flat out states that he is not just their booking agent but is indeed a "management partner in Foo King". For those who don't know that's the management company that manages nightwish. So, he is indeed more than a "booking agent" for them and is a member of their management or else he certainly thinks he is. Of course after he embarrassed them, they tried to make that seem untrue to the fans. Anyway, anytime something like this happens their first instinct and response is to try and lie their way out of it. They have a long pattern of this kind of dishonesty.
John Two Hawks' issue and statement about Greece are dark episodes, but NW always manage to clean the band's image towards their fans (or at least most of them).
Elanorelle Yes, but the way they "clean" their image is through deception. That's the point of the John Two Hawks issue. Perhaps tuomas himself was misled by Two hawks and truly believed him a native American originally. The issue is that when it became clear he was not what he appeared to be, their response was not to admit the truth and be honest with their fans. Their response was to hide and conceal the truth. That's the problem. Their first instinct in situation like this is not to be honest and admit they may have made an honest mistake. Their first instinct is to instead weave a tangled web of lies to conceal the truth. It's a sign of 2 character flaws, Insecurity and dishonesty and it's a reflection of the character of their leadership and the way they choose to lead.

We can laugh at it now
I don't mind all the burning daggers
Piercing me, shaping me
Turning the blade on you.
I revealed my escape
Sweetest mutiny, ship was sinking
Deeper and deeper and deeper
On top of you
Oohh, how does it feel?
Now when there's no way out
You married your own hell
Couldn't get out of your own mind.
Now I have the key
Out of the downwards spiralling conspiracy
Just look at me
Just look at
DIVA, DIVA, DIVA, DIVA.
When you chiselled your scene
So delusional, almost got me
Started to question my sanity
'Cos of you.
I've been tasting the salt
Couldn't stand all the rats on board

Perfeita demais ❤

Excelente, me suscribo
wow, me han gustado mucho tus traducciones ojala puedas subtitular Calling from the wild. n.n
Powerfull song! Tarja´s answer who were responsible by her forced departure in 2005! Tuomas, Jukka, Emppu, and Ewo. Sorry for the bad English.
Well done.
I wonder what prompted her to write this song, after 11 years.
actually, she wrote a backlash song in each of her albums..
She needs to keep reminding people that she was in NW. NW is growing without her. It's just good publicity.
Lmao!!
@@XiuFeanaro6 sooo true! nobody cares for the song nw made with floor she’s know mainly for her covers of tarja and anette albums hahahahaha
Tremenda canción ! esta va dirigida a tuomas..
! Diva! 🎶👍🎶👍🎶👍💯💯💯💯💯💯💔🖤
But what do the lines "Oh how does it feel, now when theres no way out, you married your own hell, couldn't get out of your own mind" mean?
Perhaps it refers to all the fandom drama they created with the split letter, 'cause nowadays it's still goin' on, internet's full of it.
Emppu from Once upon a Nightwish pg 291, 292
[Quote]
'Sometimes I get the feeling that the most important thing for our managers is to get on tour and party, and the practical arrangements take second place."
"If they'd concentrate more on all the little details, everyone would have it better on tour."
"Take the US tour, for example-we were obviously there for the first time, so we couldn't demand a whole lot, but the fact there wasn't even a shower at the venue is sure to piss you off. It's the manager's job to see that we don't play at a place like that."
"Cabuli was more precise, and as far as I can see, he always did all the things he promised, even on the road. If something was missing from the venue, he would go and shake the local promoter a little. But Ewo and the rest were just like "Yeah yeah' Then the band had to suffer from that. You could be sure that the drinks were always there, but the rest of the things weren't handled as promptly."
"Our first recording contract was what it was. Cabuli has been useful in how he has always looked through the contracts, seen to it that there are no loopholes- even contracts that King Foo had already OK'd. He'd also gotten our percentages higher than King Foo did, so Cabuli has been more of a businessman than they have. If he'd had a chance to handle things himself, some things might be better"
[end Quote]
pg 291, 292
These are the words of Emppu. Notice this line .
"You could be sure that the drinks were always there, but the rest of the things weren't handled as promptly."
That's why we have the voices of 3 drunk rats in the background of this song.
It's right there with "i don't mind all the burning daggers piercing me, shaping me, turning the blade on you"
In the end yes tarja strugled (and still is) with the bad image the open letter gave her, but in the long run it was tuomas and the guys who got the worst part.
"The band, the tours and the money it all seemed to be more important to my dad that anything that had to do with me or my mom... and even when he was at home he was always lost inside his own mind"
so, that tells us. Tuomas also aknowledges this to a certain point, also there's old interviews with tarja and she openly says tuomas is always too lost in his own world.
La melodía del comienzo me recuerda mucho a Sopor Aeternus & the ensamble of Shadows . Xd

I raped the replay button ^_^
About johanna his wife i guess that sort of of feeling tarja caused in him is or was once in a life time for him (i know what i'm talking about). so yeah. no saying he doesn't love her but his inspiration lies in the hurt and loss of a platonic feeling intead of a the fulfillment of his marriage
yes... and "I wan't my tears back" has nothing to do with Tarja...
I don't think Imaginaerum is about Tarja at all. When you search for that kind of songtexts you gotta look into Dark Passion Play.
zRaven naaa the movie is full of of hints too, also is funny the actress has tarja looks lol
@@didido5245 the actress was the vocalist anette, tarjas replacement lol

Emppu and jukka are saying not sure cause is a way to say they meant nothing in the bands important decisions
Thats disgusting tarja
No, the voice are tuomas and the nightwish managers, Ewo and Finberg. And it's a true and accurate representation of their behavior. In their very own book, Emppu talks about the management of the band and how their primary concern is simply drinking and partying all the time and not taking care of practical arrangements. See page 291, 292 of their very own book. You will find this quote from Emppu.

This is the words of Emppu telling us exactly the same thing. He's telling us the bands management is a bunch drunks who only care about partying and not doing their job.
In my opinion, Emppu's the most polite member of NM 'cause he does his own thing and doesn't participate actively into the band's dramas & troubles, that's really smart from him.

That laugh

You know... Sadly, haters gonna hate.
its me aquil i guess they are post-era nightwish fans and can't stand song meaning
ya,this cannot stop the essence and meaning of this song HAHAHA
How salty must you be to release a song with these lyrics more than 10 years after all that happened?
Good song, though.
Sorry, I don't read pink tabloids. On the other hand, if she would have overcome NW, she wouldn't have released the song or at least she would have changed the lyrics.
But she didn't.
Therefore, here we are.
🙄🤦♀️....
@@mr.maulen6577 Besides the meaning of the song. I feel like it doesn't exactly fit into the sound of My Winter Storm or What Lies Beneath and I think Diva was written around the time those albums were created and released though
loco qué onda? siempre a los palos, me cansa -.-
If ever there was a song that confirmed some of the sentiments and statements in the original public rejection letter signed by all the other band members of nightwish - this is it.
Anyway, this shows their dishonesty
Elanorelle
Yes, but the way they "clean" their image is through deception.
Yep, I've never believed in NW justifications: always cheap and disrespectful.
At first I tought it was inspired in a circus music, but it is oriental.. kkk
