I Feel like he does what artists need to do cause I dont care about what he eats, where he travels or whom he talks to. When he drops his album it needs to do BIG numbers to justify the massive amount of hype around his name. If it drops and the numbers are tepid, he will lose some of that “aura” and mystique he’s taken so long to cultivate, bc the *new* narrative about Carti will be that once it came time to “show and prove”, he couldn’t meet the moment, and all his aura will seem like “hot air”…So the pressure is on. Carti’s album would have to at least outsell Tyler’s ‘Chromakopia’. 🤷🏾♂️ otherwise the hip hop commentariat will be asking: “Is this really the new generation’s king of hip-hop, maybe he’s not ready for that king spotlight yet”? The doubt around him will be louder than ever.

No, his new music is extremely dope. Every feature and every single release on ig has been great, dope dark sound, great beats, new fire voice. Something I find strange tho is that I dont know who is telling him to drop his albums when they do but he usually drops albums outside of the time frame where it cant be up for album of the year. He needs to start dropping in better time frames. I never believe him with the albums but with 2024, backrooms, evil jordan, ketamine and a few other straight up leaks I have pretty much a cool little mixtape from him. I do want the album but Its better with these certain artists not to think too much about it. Those kanye delays and listening parties and all that killed my hype for a few of his albums so I try to just not invest too much in it. Why do you think he posts the streamers reactions to the songs on his finsta? This also explains why the songs all sound different sonically and vocally from him. It’s all just to see what the public likes and doesn’t like so that when he does drop the album it is “perfect” in his eyes.

The title… it’s always been this way. As a Carti fan who been around since way before self titled. Since he was fw awful, you see even during those days he was just the cool dude in the background behind the bigger names, but you always wanted to see what he had in store and what was next. All his drops prior to self titled were dj exclusive drops or leaks.
