@@heatherfell_oly you ladies both are incredible despite the all the difference. I think you should appear together more. And I would love to watch both GCN and GTN doing some epic ride, challenge, etc...👍👍
Heather and GTN for the win! Just a quick question, how did the planning discussion go down in the GTN office? “Mark, we want you to head to Kona and drink beer. Heather, we want you to ride and sprint up a steep climb in Girona”. Seems a touch unfair!
Probably something like this. Maya was speaking full sentences quite easily for a lot of that. From RPE we know that she was probably only riding at at about 80-85% of her FTP. Bear in mind. FTP is the maximum power one can hold for an hour, and a 6km climb at 5% isn't going to take anywhere near that long. It's a very short climb for a road cyclist. Even with a low anaerobic capacity she could probably have gone about 30% harder than she was for the entire climb. Back to normal now. This race looked really fun!
Good effort ladies, that looked like fun! You were right about the traffic as well. Don't think I saw 1 car. With that, the scenery, the weather, the company....what a place to train. Take care folks
Wonderful and well done,Heather impressive your performance. I liked this well and for Maya magnifica tú manera de escalar especialmente que fácil aceleraste, the challenger was nice and both looking very well! and what I can say ,pretty well and funny .Thanks for a nice video. Gracias por el vídeo
Sorry to say..... That was so staged...... 😕 A shorter route but running??. I'm not convinced, especially as you crossed the road at exactly the same time....... Maya was already ahead and going faster, no brainer!
I think triathletes are better in a time trail then cylist (accept Remco Evenepoel and Filippo Ganna). I do athletics, but I also cycle alone and there I mainly focus on sprinting, climbing and time trial. I have discovered that I can find a lot more information about time trial on your channel than on the GCN channel.
If I wanted to take all the flair, challenge and technical skill out of cycling, I’d become a triathlete. Amazing from a pure athletic point of view but sport is about so much more than that.
Just watched this again for some reason..... There is no way..... NO WAY... Heather would make up that ground on foot. The side by side map showed both routes to be "similar" and she just so happens to have her running kit to hand...... Then after you cross at the same point...... Really.....
This misses a major advantage of being a triathlete. You can be a mediocre swimmer, cyclist, and runner and still have a respectable overall result. The mediocrity just has to be consistent.
An age old debate about a rivalry between cyclists and triathletes??? What is this based on??? Inventing a prejudice for the sake of marketing is a new low...
06:39 - wait what the fuck?!?!? They have matching speed.... how can human being RUNNING match the speed of someone on a ROAD BICYCLE?!?!? That's gotta be 20 km/h at least 15 km/h. No human being can run at 15 km/h. What's going on?
You welcome!,I follow the videos of the channel. Could you make some video about Rachel Joyce? Wonderful triathlete, she could win I Kiona but Chrissie Wellington was amazing well. I am not sure I wrote the name and the last name to Chrissie well. But you can rectify it. Thanks !
It's been just under 25 years ago, but I was a fanatical cyclist and triathlete. Cyclists are far superior than triathletes. From the level of technical knowledge to levels of fitness. Doing a triathlon was basically like going for a picnic, it took less than year to get fit and people could get into competition after just a few months. In cycling you need about 4 years of training and racing to be doing ok at the time trials. I can strongly recommend doing RTTC time trials, they are really hard.
You're comparing completing with competing, 25 years ago when triathlon had been a sport for only 15 years. Totally different thing, especially nowadays. Do you think it takes less than 4 years now to be competitive in half and full distance events? Think again. The better amateurs still push over 40km/h average over 90km to run a 1:20 half marathon after. I'm not saying cyclists aren't superior to triathletes, but your "analysis" is flawed and does not stand the test of time.
@@martijnvreys2910 as I wrote my experience was a long time ago. However once my brother came to watch one of my races and he was laughing his head off at the lack basic bike handling skills. (My brothers pb for the 50 mile TT was 1:52:40 so he knows a bit about cycling.) He saw two triathletes wearing their helmets backwards and witnessed a crash in this non-drafting event that was on a closed motor racing circuit. What my brother found so funny about the crash is that when he races in crits or road racing they cycle so close it's normal to overlap wheels and handlebars. But in this duathlon the rules stated how many meters separation is required, and still they crashed into each other with meters of separation and on obstacles.
Matthew Baynham Oh absolutely, triathletes are lousy bike handlers (myself included). Less overall time on the bike (because of running and swimming), rarely experience racing in pelotons, often started at a later age, and I think more training hours in solitude or indoors. But in fairness you should then also compare the average cyclist’s running, swimming or overall athletic ability. Then you have a different story.
That’s kind of stupid. You make it sound like nobody ever crashes in a crit because they are cyclists. Emma Pooley had a pretty good career as a runner turned cyclist. It only took Roglic 3 years to make the world tour. Lance Armstrong and Emma were triathletes turned world championship, let’s talk when a cyclist is a triathlon world champion.
A team time trial (GTN VS GCN)would be a treat to watch
I think I should pass that one onto the boys!
What bikes would be allowed? Only UCI legal for GCN and anything goes for GTN
@@Wesrl I think that sounds fair ;)
Who's gonna match up with mark tho, there's really no tt in gcn roster.
Si? Lol
i know it's kinda randomly asking but does anyone know a good website to stream newly released tv shows online?
I'm most impressed with Maya running that fast in clipless shoes.
Richard Haselwood think she’s been practising, I had to find another gear up those steps!
Great fun video but it looked very arranged with Heather first crossing the road within meters and then winning with just a few seconds.
I feel like this was staging , but seriously entertained to watch.
Drone view where Heather and Maya sprinting is the Killer... absolutely doped...
Maya was tough to beat, she's such a strong cyclist!

1:16 - hm, full EF kit wonder who they caught heading to a training ride
Would actually like to know...
Same here. With a team issue bike and pink tacx bottle, I'm guessing it wasn't just a fan of the team.
It could actually be any of them as Girona is one of there main training base for Europe. I'd say its definitely a team rider though.
My guess is Mike Woods. He moved there about a year ago I believe
Well spotted, wish we had noticed at the time!
Heather and GTN for the win!

Girona wasn't a bad consolation prize :)
Seems fair, mark's beem carrying their asses
Regardless of which side you take, this was an awesome video. Very well put together! Props to the editing crew!
So she choose the route “because it suits her”. Talk about tipping the scales 😂
Greatt video. Next challenge I think Heather taking on the GCN boys in the weight room ;)

PPP - Prior Proper Planning and then execution on race day. Awesome planning ahead Heather and racing to your advantage!
I had to think outside of the box otherwise I had no chance!
That video was cool and i appreciate the friendly rivalry but i was annoyed how she ran instead of losing with pride
Great video you absolutly need to do a time trial on the flat with all both team
3 GTN guys vs over 10 GCN presenters including many ex-pros. I wonder who will win.??
Great idea, i'll put it to the boys!
Fair play. Cyclists define dominate in cycling parts of triathlon events, and suck at the other 2 disciplines so it's only fair. Well done you ladies.
That was awesome! Honestly didn’t see that plot twist coming.
Awesome job ladies. I love these cross overs.
Thanks greengonzonz :)
Always enjoy watching Heather and Maya team up for some great videos
Thanks Len :)
Great location, great participación, you both are winers.

Thank you for your reply GTN you are awesome

One thing that triathletes are really better is complaning/giving excuses for the bad performance even before the race starts

I've had a thought. As there was no swim. Shouldn't be GCN v GDN ( Global Duathlon Network)?
What about a relay race with gtn and gcn together😎
It's on the cards, but think GCN are scared ;)
@@heatherfell_oly rooting for you to convince them:-)
Great video ... we’ll done to both 👍🏻😁
Heather is fast but only won cuz Maia was pacing based on dropping her(Heather). Maia would have smashed her if she gave more effort.
Yeah sure talking while racing....clearly a real situation
My legs are my limiting factor not my lungs unless it's a sprint!
Clearly scripted, whats the point?

There was a better way to decide, who is better. Tricycle, if you know what I mean.
I would have taken that running trail up with a cycle-cross bike.
Triathletes > Cyclists
Imagine doing only one sport...
Ro Atre imagine sucking at three different sports and using rule breaking aerodynamics and call your self “fast”
If I wanted to take all the flair, challenge and technical skill out of cycling, I’d become a triathlete. Amazing from a pure athletic point of view but sport is about so much more than that.
*spanish music*...and it's salsa. Fire the one who put that subtitle NOW
I would do a triathalon if not for all that running and swimming.
and gmbn would have offroaded the section that Heather ran through
If only I had a MTB to hand ;)
should include swimming & running too...plus weights lifting too at the gym ; )
I'd be up for including swimming, but Maya is pretty good at that too!
