EP 01: How To Build A Tent Deck Foundation: Its Official We Are Now Well On Our Way To Glamping!

We decided it would be nice to have a tent deck for several reasons. First it provides a consistent place to set your tent up and always has a level floor. In our case slightly it is slightly elevated off the ground to help keep the tent floor dry and minimize the chances of the deck rotting.
Originally I was going to build the deck the exact dimensions to fit the tent however after careful consideration I have decided to make it wider and longer than the tent itself. In this case the deck will be 12' X 16'. Originally in my plan I was going to build 5' walls and a basic roof frame so i could just put the tent on top of the structure and not have to set up the poles, however I think now I will build 8' walls and eventually put a roof on the structure with long term plans of utilizing it as a shed. In the mean time we can use it instead of the tent and it could serve as a nice shelter as we work on the actual cabin restoration!
