I had never taken apart a chainsaw before, and your video was perfect. The chain had come off my Remington pole chainsaw and your video showed me how to open the chainsaw, clean it, adjust the chain and reassemble it. I couldn't have done it without your video. Thank you!
Thank you very much for this video! My parents had bought this and I had no idea what to do when the chain came off. After watching this video and cleaning and putting the chain back on, I now know what to watch for with the chain and not to waste oil that leaks everywhere!! I need to learn how to sharpen the chain next.
What a helpful video! I have a different Remington polesaw model but the principles are the same. I was getting ready to throw it away and buy a new one until I saw this. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
I was just about to take mines to the shop to see why it was leaking oil until I saw your video. Saved me alot of money for a expensive repair. Thank you.
Thank you on review. I was about to tear mine apart to see why it constantly leaks bar oil after I finished using it. I thought possibly a bad oil line, or cap leak but this is just common for these?? I don't think I ever had an issue before on it leaking out.
when the chain is too loose and you have to pull out the bar (guide plate), doesn't that unalign the nut that is suppose to appear in the hole on the guide plate? I guess it all works out in the end! Very helpful video, thank you! I'm having trouble tightening the chain. I'll try it again now.
YES! This is my exact issue. I did notice that in another video the guide bar was installed upside down (I was trying to use the numbers on the guide) bar so that they were right side up. Hell. Idk. I’m about to throw the shit out and say screw it
Hay is that oil supposed to really square out alot. When I first bought mine it was gushing out? Now it barley comes out. I cleaned everything like you did and the pumper works. It just comes out a little I see it on the inner part of the bar. I didn't know the oil drained out and used it for a short time till I realized I didn't have any oil in it. Just for a real.short time. What do you think does yours gush out oil or just a little?
Phillip, it is a constant battle to keep the groove clean and keep the oil flowing. Sometimes I just dip my finger in oil and spread along the blade directly. Thanks for watching and let us know if you figure out a better way to do this?
I am not sure, Chad, but what you are saying makes since unless they have baked that into the design? Otherwise, experiment on it, I guess? Let us know what you find out? Thanks for watching!
@@harrison4803 Thanks so much for the reply.I found and watched your second video...great stuff/detail! How great is RUclips?I've gone from being not very mechanically inclined and wary of working on anything to enjoying taking everything apart and maintaining it. Safe cutting!
An air compressor works wonders and saves time. I have a new oiler cap and 10" chain coming. Your nuts must be loose when taking up the slack and the bar must be pulled upward when tightening the bar once you get 1/16" of play.
@@harrison4803 thanks for the information O.will remember you.if I ever.get.a.pole saw I do have a 14 " Remington electric limb &trim which I'd like to know how.chain is installed on it
Never considered doing that, Johnathan? I would guess that everything, ie., motor size, etc. would not be designed for a larger bar, chain, etc., but not sure. Maybe someone can chime in on this?
Like its my weeder were u can put different attachments on it and I was wondering if I can go to a bigger bar to attend then she has a 8 inch bar and chain on my call attachment for it the engine is 28 CC I just want to go to the king inch bar and chain Sony 2 inches bigger just one another if it will fit on work route changing anything inside of the pole saw it's self
The oiler is SO bad I keep a can of motorcycle chain lube spray out when I use the saw. It keeps from burning the bar up I suppose. I'm getting ready to tear the entire saw down in a day or two, all the way to the armature & bearings or bushings to lube those also. I plan to see if I can improve the flow of oil from the plastic reservoir by maybe enlarging the port in it a bit. As I figure, it can't possibly hurt and if I ream it out too much I can always melt some plastic back with my soldering iron . It's a shame Remington hasn't got something better like the old "thumb pump" lever like the little McCullochs had 40 years ago.
@@pipedreams57 Good points and I too just dip my finger in the reservoir, periodically, and run it over the blade. I got mine used & am not sure how much it was used. Let us know how your plastic work does. Thanks for the feedback!
I took EVERYTHING apart today and cleaned it. I was right about the oil reservoir. It only has a hole about .005 for oil to flow through, which is way too small. I heated a piece of very fine wire and reamed it just a little. Seems to work much better now. There are also 2 or 3 sets of sleeve bearings in the saw that needed fresh grease. If you pull the armature to get to those end cap bearings you may need an extra set of hands to retract the brushes upon reassembly, but everything else is really simple and easy.
Don't know? Bought it from my neighbor & he never kept receipts or manuals. Here is what I found in a google search: www.google.com/search?q=REMINGTON+POLE+SAW%2FCHAIN+SAW&rlz=1C1CHBF_enUS1041US1042&oq=REMINGTON+POLE+SAW%2FCHAIN+SAW&aqs=chrome..69i57j69i61l3.1874j0j15&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

Yeah, JV, I lay mine in my oil drain pan, when not using it or make sure all of the oil is out of it before hanging it up on my pegboard.

How tight should the 2 nuts at the base of the Guide be? It seems like if they are too tight , the adjustment screw won’t turn.

Mine never oils the bar enough. My oil cap also split too. Rotten rubber I guess.
Yes, it is tricky and you have to keep the opening clear. I had to buy a new cap, also. It is fragile.
