    Moving there next summer, before you buy property check it on the flood map. Might save you a lot

    Thank you Robert for this video- My husband and I own the farm in the first 5 minutes of the video. We are grateful you took this even though I cried the entire time while watching it. You have saved a memory for us and we are thankful. Beautiful footage and hopefully soon you will be able to retake it and there will be no water! We are all praying!

      Abby, I live in Woodridge County Estate just down the road. Robert is a friend of mine and he came and did this for us. I knew we had water but until you see it like this you just don't get the full spectrum. I have been contacting county commissioners and anyone who will listen for assistance. Keep sharing the video, we need people to see it! Nothing they can do is not an answer I am happy with! Something needs to be done.

    That was my farm once. I recorded a notice at the clerk of courts to warn future buyers but nobody took it seriously when I warned the citrus county realtors association either 😐 they need to open spillway to lower the groundwater that connects these sinkhole ponds to lake Rousseau

    • @runkstar79
      @runkstar79 3 года назад

      Michael- we are the current owners of the farm and there is nothing on record that we were given so you are correct no one listened. We were told the pastures hold water but the house had never flooded. We are devastated.

      Abby Runk I was referring to 9160 N Rainelle - I wrote an owner last time it flooded. Corner of Adirondack only had runoff in low spot behind house. We pumped that out no problem in 2005. I determined from SWFMD topo aerials that the water level at 9160 exactly matched the level recorded at the locks in Inglis. It is a hydraulic connection to the lake via limestone tunnels without a doubt. I tried to get help from Nancy Argenziano but apparently she was too busy with late night meetings in dark booths of the corner bar from what I saw…. Get them to lower the lake level to drain this fast. Good luck. It only gets worse

      @@freiherrvonstein sorry but your address is quite far away from Abby's placce, so what is the connection ?

    • @freiherrvonstein
      @freiherrvonstein 3 года назад

      Michael Barth I don’t know abbys place. Rainelle is on left edge of your video. All those ponds along 495 are sinkholes that connects to lake Rousseau whose drainage is impeded by man made and govt controlled dam which could be adjusted to drain area faster but they did not respond to pleas for help in 2005. That is the connection. Just look at a topo

    There has to be something our government or state officials can do to fix the drainage issues. I've heard back in the day the Army Core Engineers created drainage which in our area allowed most the water to flow to Lake Russo then the dam pushed the water out to the Gulf. Something has changed. Why aren't they allowed to open the dam wide open? Other communities down south (Tampa bay, Okeechobee, etc) do it with a slap on their hands by the media after the fact if there are environmental impacts (fish are more important than ppls homes and lives in CC?). Or is the latest issue due to land development (example the power plants new solar fields). Also I know when the dam is open it naturally causes the surrounding areas water levels to go down too I.E. in the drier seasons when the dam is open our ponds on the farm dry up.

    They said it’s the 3rd worst summer with rain in 100 years. If citrus gets 2 1/2 more inches it will be the worst on record. Praying that the rains end soon and that it dries up. Most don’t have flood insurance because it was not a flood zone area. 🙏 for sunnier days

      Matthew, the small area that is shown is roughly along N Citrus Ave and the intersections of W Adirondack St and W Tolle Ln. I was covering this area specifically for a friend who lives in that area. N Citrus Ave is the main road shown at the beginning few minutes of the video. Hope that helps.

    Sadly this area has flooded before. Maybe not this bad but as they add houses, and roads and redirect water the area of flooding gets worse. It's terrible that realtors are not required to tell people that the property they are buying floods. Lived here all my life it is not the first time this area has flooded and it will not be the last. So sorry for all the people all over the state that buy land and they don't know that it floods.

      When a property is listed for sale there is a Sellers Property Disclosure form completed by the owner. The first page asks about water intrusion, drainage, and flooding. It is the sellers legal obligation to disclose any known issues. Buyers should carefully read the disclosure form and do research before buying property.
