  • Overstocked on guppy fry so I create an outdoor fish tank to grow them out. Simple set up using a laundry tub and a sponge filter that anyone can do. This is a breeding for profit set up so once the guppies are adults I will sell them off.

      Go for it! I think you will enjoy it, so far I have. It really is pretty simple, just make sure you have a plan for all those fish once you cant keep them out there anymore. Thanks for watching!

    Digging the whole vibe on your channel. Delivery is on point as well.. I use those same sponge filters they are very versatile.

      That really means a lot coming from you, I have been watching your channel for a while now and have gotten some great info off of there. Those sponge filters are pretty great so far, and they are cheap too.

    Great video Aqua Apprentice. Really enjoyed watching, good editing and video quality. Gave me an idea as well, I'm in Miami so worried a little about the heat.

    • @AquaApprentice
      @AquaApprentice  7 лет назад +1

      Thanks that really means a lot to me! The heat can be challenging here so I think a full shade set up is definitely best and you could also bury it a little if you need it even cooler. FYI for some reason your comment on my other video came up as spam so I ignored it. Since it was obviously not spam I went ahead and subbed your channel and will check it out after work today.

      Aqua Apprentice Yea, my backyard is actually tile, and not too much shade. How about putting a partial lid on the container? What do you do if it rains? Thinking water level might rise too much,PH swings idk

    • @AquaApprentice
      @AquaApprentice  7 лет назад +1

      I think a partial lid may work but floating plants would probably be optimal if you can find some. So I used Cory from aquarium coop's technique to handle rain over flow, simply just drilled a few small holes towards the top of the bin so it can drain if it rains to much. The PH swings I am not sure about but wasnt to worried about since they are guppies, but you did make me curious so I will do a PH test after a while and see how much it has been affected.

    This setup reminds me of my own system. I use a lot of water lilies instead of heavily filtering mini ponds

    • @AquaApprentice
      @AquaApprentice  6 лет назад

      Yea it worked great, as you can see though my plant idea didn’t work so well. When I try again I will give it another shot. I saw that most things you do are outside, which I enjoy.

    A note on the included airline stick: It does connect to standard 1/4" tubing like you showed but you need to push it onto the lip of the stick from an angle to open the end of the tube. Then, you slowly and carefully work the end of the tubing onto the rest of the lip. The tubing should expand around the stick and keep a tight fit. I have a bunch of these XinYou filters and they're all like this.

    • @AquaApprentice
      @AquaApprentice  5 лет назад

      Thanks yes I actually finally figured it out myself as well. Used hot water on the airline first and it made it more pliable and attached fairly easy. Appreciate the info though.

    awesome vid budro you did a great job on your 1st video, if you looking for a place to house some
    guppies you can hit me up I just set up a 30 gal with just 5 guppies for a start up & if you need to let some of
    your guppy grass go I could surely use a pinch of it to get a start on my little guppy start up I'll pay the shipping.

    • @AquaApprentice

      Congrats on the new set up. 30 Gallons full of guppies should be a lot once your breeding 😁. I actually got rid of most of everything because I just moved. Almost settled so I will need to build back up and start my hobby again. Thanks for watching, glad you liked it.

    chlorine will evaporate in time depending on volume but defiantly 6 hours to over night. my prof of this is my 40 gallon goldfish tank which i have been running for 2 years.l hear him say it a few times. he has a mass carbonation for his whole fish room that he says manages it. that is also the only buffer he has on his water changes.

    • @AquaApprentice

      shoelesblondlady I don’t think year round will be possible due to the winters just getting down to low. I usually sell mine before winter and bring some indoors.
