I think he means he can't even lift the Chinese weight standards if you switched the 'kg' to 'lb', rather than saying that we should have annotated them as in lbs.
About four years ago, China's sports bureau subjected athletes in all sports to the same fitness tests (such as long-distance running for swimmers), which prevented the best athletes in some events from competing So the Chinese Sports Bureau changed the content of the physical test this year
I'm more interested in the conditioning and jumping than the weights being lifted. A lot of amateur powerlifters can do those lifts, but would fail the cardiovascular test and the jumping. It's fascinating to me the emphasis that the Chinese put on general athleticism.
well from a translation (which i am not 100% sure is correct), for the climbing test it's 65m for a minute for men, it's apparently 500m in less than 2mn15s and for the jumping up and including 73kg class it's 71cm jump, up to 96kg class 63cm, and above it's 55cm
49 yo male, 94 kg bw, I could pass the 89 kg strength requirements, but most probably I will fail the cardio and the jumping big time - bit time fails.
Always great to see my boy Yousefi. The 250 was cake. Unfortunately it appears he is the #3 Iranian so we don’t see him compete as much as I’d like. He did 171-225 as a 15 year old 2019 Jr worlds. I thought he’d be doing that 270 from the floor by now. Genc was very successful at 67, 140-182 at 2022 worlds but didn’t add all that much to it moving up a class and his slightly better teammate ended up in Paris.
I mean, I'm not a weightlifter and was a powerlifter for the longest time but still find it funny how with those standards it goes from "god no, how would I even do that" to "oh yeah, that's easy" from left to right for me xD
I don't hit any of those number in any of the categories and I am afraid I never will. Maybe they have numbers for age groups ? Seb, I think in the female categories you are reading some different number than those tables show. I guess the shown number are correct, at least it seems to make more sense to me?
I snatch grip DL more than I back squat, to me the two numbers in the right column of my respective weight class (SGDL and DL) is doable, no chance in hell I am front squatting 200kg anytime soon if ever.
I could pass these but I’m not a weightlifter. I think that extra shows how incredible it is that China has so many lifters that are not only strong enough to lift those weights, but that also move like weightlifters.
What kind of nonsense is that? Nobody who doesn’t practice serious Olympic weightlifting can pass this test. Nobody does rock bottom squats especially front style except Olympic lifters. Nobody does snatch grip deadlifts with this kind of weight without training. Are you saying you practice the lifts but don’t compete? These are not typical gym lifts.
@@JohnDoherty-dl2fz for the squat perhaps, altough some korean bodybuilders would disagree with you (and prob most asian people having the genetics to do that naturally) for snatch grip, ain't it just a wide grip deadlift lol, not so hard to do if you regularly do deadlifts
Lech you obviously don’t know the difference between a powerlifting deadlift and how snatch/clean deadlifts for Olympic lifting are performed. Just as lifting a snatch/clean flat back is used while pushing with legs from floor. Much more leg is used and consequently less back/lumbar region. 45 years ago when I competed as a 75 my corresponding lifts were ; clean 145 kg, clean deadlift 180 , regular deadlift 215. Ratios will vary according to body dimensions.
Comparing myself to these numbers is depressing at first blush, but then I remember that I'm in the Masters Division and us old farts have lower standards due to age. lol
dang this is hard i have only trained for 3.7 years and im 16 but i think i can pass the strength tests in a few years, my lifts are as follow : front squat: not attempted ( most i've done was 60kg for 10 reps) back sqaut : 110kg atg for 3 reps most i've done was 125kg for one rep but not atg, snatch deadlift: 100kg, clean deadlift: i can do 1 clean deadlift with 140kg but 3 if its not fully clean, im 67kg
At 81 I kinda meet in the middle of 81-89 numbers I wasn't getting blow out of the water until the snatch deadlift ain't hitting that and front squat maybe, maybe I could hit 73 in 10 tries maybe can hit 1 ,,, does are test meaning the bare minimum to enter 😂😂😂...
Seb, there's no "supposedly" when it comes to Pisarenko. @1:21 ruclips.net/video/I5p4trygGx8/видео.html . I was there, just off to Pisarenko's right. That's 265! So 270 in training? Ah, yeah.
Im an American male at 70kgs. My numbers are, frontsquat 220 best ever (200 nowadays), backsquat 240 best ever (220 nowadays), snatch deadlift best ever was 200 and never did again, and i never maxed out for a deadlift… …i suck at weightlifting but at least i have the strength???
You suck at weightlifting??? You front squatted over triple bodyweight and can almost do that now. Snatch deadlifted 200 kg weighing 70 kg. Dude if you had the worst technique in the world you should’ve been doing 130-135/160-165. Not all pure strength lifts convert to Olympic lifting the same way but I see talent here. Get some better coaching. You should be doing things in this sport.

Btw, Nate went and hit a 210kg snatch deadlift to pass the Chinese strength tests!
That's some serious drip! 🤤
Comfortably in the 55kg womens numbers...as an 85kg dude
Was reading the numbers and I was like oh hell yeah I got these. And then I realized those were the women's numbers.
yeah ... same.
Cant even do these in pounds
USA and north Korea use pounds. Rest of the world uses metric.

Got my t,shirt and am very happy😊
I pass everything except the front squat, at 89kg men 😅 😭
My lifts btw 150/240/220/245 kg, and yes I have huge problem with my front squats
109kg man here. I'm between 2-10% away from those numbers, the worst being the clean pull. I thought I was strong before.... now, not so much lol.

At best nearly 73kg men at 117kg bodyweight.
Need to get back to strength training after a long cutting phase
I was pretty close (back in the old 85kgs class) F.squat 190kgs and B.squatted 225kgs
for the 109, i would be out as I don't have the front squat or back squat, but within 20kgs of both. I got the snatch and clean DL though
I'm 255lbs, FS, 455, BS 565, barely do deadlifts but max conventional was only 530
surprisingly the men’s strength standard is quite reasonable. The explosive strength and speed/athleticism must be nuts at the elite level
I mean, I'm not a weightlifter and was a powerlifter for the longest time but still find it funny how with those standards it goes from "god no, how would I even do that" to "oh yeah, that's easy" from left to right for me xD

Fairly certain I can hit those at 73kg - the Snatch DL would be the most difficult without a doubt. Walk around at about 75kg.

Nice, I’m basically at the 73kg men’s standards! And all it took was weighing 93kgs!
(I'm an 89kg man from Poland) front squat 150kg
back squat 170kg
snatch deadlift 145kg
clean deadlift 185kg
so I guess I'm not fit for China 😅
