Fun fact! Adam Driver current age is closer to book snape's canon age. Alan rickman was playing a character who was WAY younger than he actually was. That's how good of an actor alan rickman was.
Watching an SNL monologue usually feels like a very famous person in front of a lot of people standing in pretty much the same spot telling jokes at their own expense (which is fine and i enjoy it). I think the transphobic comment was a joke because of how awkward he was during the sketch and felt self-conscious like most actors are. SNL usually doesn't run bigoted stuff even if they're not politically correct.
At 3:56 he said, "I'm trying to drag this out." I thought it was a silly and clever reference to the joke he was about to tell, which ended with a punchline of two explanations. Python-esque, perhaps?
Man alive!! This really opened my eyes. Not only does he inhabit each one of his characters in a special way, he's really good at comedy, which is very very hard. His timing is immaculate. And he owns the premise from the beginning. Stellar performance.
While he looks so much like snape, actually died when he was about the same age as Adam so for an origin story you would need someone younger because otherwise it would be Alan rickman (who was marvellous ) all over again
He seems more like a Marine that got lucky with acting than a big actor who happens to be a Marine. If that makes sense, he just seems so normal and genuine like us and less scripted and polished like them
When he was 19, he tried the whole move to Hollywood penniless to try and make it as an actor. After failing miserably with that, and having to move back home (embarrassed from his failure, and with no direction or plans for his life) he decided to join the Marines along with many of his high school buddies. He fell in love with it, and made many friends due to the camaraderie. But before he was to be shipped off to Afghanistan, he suffered injuries which not only kept him from going, but was also discharged from the Marines entirely. Feeling guilty being left behind while his friends went to risk their lives, he returned home. It was then that he decided to try acting again, and this time he got into Julliard. I highly recommend watching his Ted talk about how being a Marine helped him become a better actor. It's not too long, and he's a great storyteller. If you enjoy Adam Driver, you'll enjoy this too!

I could watch him monologue like this for hours with no end goal in sight
"I'm in a movie with Scarlett Johansson so I've basically kissed Colin Jost"
HailG3 I don’t get it
@@GakeJaskin Scarlett Johannsen is engaged to Colin Jost (another actor on SNL). Adam is saying he kissed Colin because obviously Colin has kissed Scarlett at some point. They've "swapped spit," so to speak.
@@nataliefreeman5237 Will their nickname be JoJo? I hope so.
An indirect kiss he is the most closeted tsundere anime boy ever
Holy fuck Colin and Scarlett? Damn! Good for him
Oh no! This poor man has been kidnapped! Somebody call the police!
I've done a movie with Scarlett Johansson so _I've basically kissed Colin Jost_ if you think about it
I would love that part time job! I mean...Really? Yes!
@@richardcallaway4093 Part-time job doing a movie with Scarlett or part-time job kissing Colin Jost?
@@josephhodges9819 por que no los dos?
*finishes 10 movies*
Agent:" Adam, you're hosting SNL tonight. Have a monologue ready "
Adam;" Ok......Nah I'm to tired I'll just talk about random things and the audience will still smile"
P.S I totally smiled lmao
The funny thing is Bill Hader has said the monologue is the last thing they do so I like to think Lorne was just like “idk figure it out”
I mean he hosted so recently he probably WAS like “dang I already promoted my movies last time, guess I’ll just talk about kissing Colin Jost” lol
He nailed that. These things usually have a forced air to them as the actor is out of their wheelhouse trying comedy, but Driver makes this looks effortless.
Something I just realized, Adam Driver does all these sketches on TV (be it Kylo Ren in Undercover Boss, the John Oliver bit, etc.) and it feels real. I don't know if he just has that much talent or if he is just really committed to everything he does. I guess a mix of both.
I laughed more at this than most SNL monologues. Adam is so perfect.
He needs to host... a lot. I never thought he'd become one of my favorite SNL hosts. From his acting to his timing, he's amazing.
Love you Chelsea....This is Adam's Uncle. I adore him. He's come so so so far. Thanks for your sweet comments!
His "I've acted so much, and so hard" always makes me laugh
So this is why the show went long...
I wonder if he was serious about making the show long to avoid the sketch he mentioned. Maybe it will be released as "cut for time."
@@wadebarnett2542
I think it might be true because if you see the closing of the episode some of the cast members appear to be dressed for another sketch that we didn't see happen, like they were just about to do it and then got cut.
Or they actually planned for it. Though it would be funny to find out Adam Driver really pulled an Andy Kauffman.
“Adam from Girls or Kylo Ren from ... the space one”
Forrest Orla Green lmao jokes
Adam Driver might be the most underrated man in Hollywood today, this man is golden.

Adam: some facts about me, I’m a husband
Me,holding back tears: *oh.... i did not know that. Congrats man*
lmao fr
and a fatherrrr
I’m calling it, Adam Driver is one of the best hosts SNL has ever had. I am sad Abraham H Parnassus did not make a epic comeback. 😢
Next time!
What about edddie Murphy comeback
that abraham skit is unreal. one of the best.
2ndRatePetronius Please god yes!
I didn't know I could love him even more. That guy is awesome, I want one
1:35 adam is literally so good at comedic timing that he made the audience laugh just by taking a breath
You do know they cue the audience to laugh
IAmBear. You know people can genuinely laugh at something right, robot
IAmBear. Dumb bear u dont know anything cause ur a bear
Love this guy. Seems like he’s the chillest humblest guy ever.
He's sooo good. He never breaks, his delivery is flawless. He's amazing!
This guy is better than 90% of the current cast
To be real, it's pretty low bar. I'm surprised he didn't trip over it while he was carrying the entire episode.
Well he's Kylo fucking Ren
Try 100% the current cast is downright awful.
I would rather say 85% but yeah I agree
Blood of Kings6 🤣
Adam: *exists*

He’s so effortlessly funny, and I love that. When people get comedy, they get it. And he does. Yet his roles could be literally anything because he’s so damn talented. Love this guy
I seriously did not know he was a father until watching this. I’m stunned that he managed to keep it from public knowledge for as long as he did. All in all I’m so happy to know that he is a dad. Congrats, Adam!!!! He’s awesome! Thanks for uploading. ❤️❤️
He’s been a dad for 2-3 years.
Hoile T
I did not know he was though. I knew he was married however I never knew he was a father until he talks about his son in this moment. I googled it to be sure; stunned to find out that he kept his son more private from the public which I don’t blame him by how some people are these days with actors and actresses. ❤️❤️❤️
He kept it secret as long as possible press still doesn't know his name
It's important to keep things private.....Said Adam's Uncle no one has ever heard of ......LOL
This is the best monologue ever.
John Mulaney often says that when hosts come on they never fully have the opening monologue finished until the show is 30 mins or less to air. This really shows that off, it also shows that you don’t always need a fully finished monologue😂😂
Honestly I think they gave him a little monologue and he ignored it and did one off improv, based on how the vibe of it feels
How can you not love this man? He's a national treasure!
SPOILER: There's not a little women, there's a LOT of women!
Too many women. If u count the numerous times they've trotted out this outdated ode to white womanhood. Like white ladies corner the market on resilience, passion, strength and love. Seems to me, a regurgitation of a theme best put to bed. Finally.
All movies should have a lot of women
@ We get it, you hate women
@ Why shouldn't movies have a lot of women?
@ They already do
Only Adam Driver can pull off this type of chill monologue 🥰 he always delivers!!
He's so funny without trying
liarandhislove That’s why he’s so brilliant: he only makes it *look* like he’s not trying. His timing is impeccable
He DELIVERS 10000% EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.
YES INDEED .....since 84 and going strong!
You are giving math professors ulcers right now.
Even in a sketch show monologue, he gives an unparalleled performance. I friggin love Adam Driver.
Adam Driver just gets better and better with age. This monologue’s hilarious.
"You look like a Star Wars fan, no offense" honestly, where's the lie? 😂❤
I don’t think any of us expected Adam Driver to be one of the best SNL hosts of all time, but here we are!
Genuinely over the last couple years hes become my favourite actor in the world; Ben solo, Flip, Charlie, Paterson, Clyde etc so many great characthers
FLIP 💗💗💗
I am right there with ya! Adam's Uncle (except we like the high school plays too!)
