- Information to help you avoid Diesel engine failure. Toyota prado hilux cracked piston and oil starvation due to blocked oil pickups can be avoided in most cases. Other diesels pistons often look the same when they are cracked. The 1kd-ftv is likely one of the most popular Diesel engines used for long distance and remote touring & towing. It may seem they are the worst, but they are very reliable all being considered. Other brands have multiple failures at lower klms & often not even used as tugs. Avoid cracked piston. Watch till the end, search other videos on our channel & get educated. Blocked oil pickups can be avoided. Find your blocked oil pickup early.

1. Jeez, my Hilux is a 2012 with 390000ks, original injectors never been out
2. I called my local Toyota dealer about the "valve clearance test" they told me that the just rev the engine and listen to them, lol
Great vid. Shame the hilux body work is crap as is the chassis. No pre prep on the chassis in particular to stop it rusting .. talking 2016 mk8
Let alone the shitty dpf burns that cause more pollution and use more fuel.

I am confused as to why a 3l turbo diesel in a Prado is considered a small diesel? The Prado has a GVM of just under 3000kg and a GCM of about 5500kg. Yet Isuzu will put a 3l turbo engine in a a small truck with a GVM of 4500kg and a GCM of 8000kg. What is different about these two motors that makes it small in a 5500kg GCM vehicle but fine in a vehicle that is designed to carry big loads? Is it gearing? Is it tune? I am sure I am missing something cause I tow with my Prado and I am paranoid every time I go away with it yet companies will put there livelihood on the back of an Isuzu light truck?
Doesn’t matter what I towing capacity is a trucks got a large diesel a car with a four-cylinder of that size is a very small engine that’s what it is larger would be a six cylinder larger again would be a V-8 and then you going to your big stuff
Gearing is the answer you seek. And the Isuzu is a much better engine, just sayin' :)
Where is the best place to replace my injectors in Perth? I’ve got a 2010 Prado with 220k. Country car that does long trips generally. Or just go straight to Toyota dealership at my local town for replacement?
