@@mikestackz854 Understandable, basically the answer is like I said, every car either has a problem or the potential for problems. I traded my 2015 VW GTI that just went out of warranty because if a water pump or turbo went out, which could cost hundreds for the former and thousands for the latter, I'd feel horrible because while I liked the car I didn't love it. If I have to invest a couple thousand in the Mercedes C55 in the next couple of years, I'll be happy with that and perhaps even proud of it because I have a strong love and emotional attachment to the car. I get so much more joy out of this car with a problem here and there than a problem free car. If I could afford a problem free car that would excited me in the way that this does I would be all for it, but for my situation and priorities this makes sense for me! 👍👍

It started life as a run of the mill 225 horsepower C320, albeit one with a not that common cobalt blue metallic paint. The cobalt blue color is a really nice subdued blue that looks elegant, but not as boring as black. The car was sent to Renntech where the 3.2 was boredout to 3.8 and some additional enhancements, such as exhaust, intake, and rims were added. All completed the car is running a significant bump in horsepower all lag free and normally aspirated. Specs aren’t given, but I beleive the 3.8 is rated at 291 bhp and 305 lb-ft of torque and the cost of that increase from Renntech was $19,000. That is a lot of cash for the same amount of horsepower to be had from a 50 shot of NOS. Total upgrades on the car according to the seller total $25,000.
What makes this a bit of an odd duck, is unlike other monster horsepower Renntech vehicles the horsepower isn’t huge, and the gains put it right into competition with the AMG C32 that also came out in 2001. The C32 pumps out 50 more horsepower from its supercharger making this Renntech model a bit superfluous.

MB C32 AMG brakes will bolt right across to any R170 or Chrysler Crossfire. *All* those vehicles already use the same master cylinder. I bought the parts brand-new from a MB dealer and did it for the front brakes. The C32 calipers are 4-piston fixed and replace single-piston sliding calipers. 345mm rotors replace 300mm rotors. It makes for a nice little upgrade that's super simple to do.

Car was abused by a stock broker and repoed so was in poor shape when I got it, brakes were toast, wheels were wasted, hydraulic leveling blown out but I got it back together, was leased to someone else and never saw it again, absolutely loved that car!

Also the wheels have those little holes for the wheel alignment thing Mercedes uses. As far as I know only Mercedes uses those type of wheel alignment machine where it has long thin spokes which go into the small holes on the wheel. Usually aftermarket ones would not have those holes and if it was by a reputable tuner they would probably make a wheel with it if it was for a Mercedes. Other wheels without those holes use the normal clamp style wheel alignment thing.

The intake setup was such a botch setup. There was quite a bit of performance loss with the setup Mercedes did.
Just because its carbon fiber does not mean it actually added any hp.
My nephew has an 2004 c240, we did quite a bit of work on the car overall.
He definitely needed new air filters. The intake pipes from OEM were soo bad they had duct tape on them instead of just removing them.
Deleted the filter cover, and the crappy pipes.
Bought 2 universal cold air intakes off the shelf, 90 degree elbow, an extra rubber boot, and xl cone filer.
Results were night and day, we didn't realize the car was soo restricted with that POS OEM air filter cover.
We even tested a quick drive with the air filters removed out of the cover and still was less response and power.
Seen a gain in fuel mileage as well, not super lots. Just city driving was able to pull 3 more miles a gallon out of the car.
CAI is the way to go on these cars, the motor breathes better. Not all that air trapped in the stock oem air cover getting heated up before passing through the throttle body.

    Great video, Alex.
We recently bought at an estate sale, a 2007 C280 4Matic with 120k miles. It was in very good shape with newer tires and while there were few repair records, my friend's shop looked up the VIN and found it had received regular maint. at local shops and the dealer, since new. So, the only things I had to do were: new brakes and rotors all around, new serp. belt, air filters, an oil change (I used Mobil 1 since it's my son's car) and coolant change. While on the lift, before buying it, we never saw anything bad or worn... ball joints were all okay and it appeared that all 8 CV joints were good as well. Only after buying it, when I was doing the front brakes, did I discover a torn CV boot on the left front side. I took it in and while they were going to replace the boot, a less expensive option was to replace the entire axle. It takes less labor hours to replace the entire axle than it does to replace just a boot and maybe a lone CV joint. So, we installed a new LF axle and all is good. It had a broken shifter plate so I found one on eBay which easily fit in. There were a few other minor issues but all in all, it's a great car. I popped off the air cleaner housing and showed my son about how easy it will someday be to change plugs. It's a helluva lot less work than on my M276 engine in the 2013 C300 4Matic. Oh, the VIN check found that the engine had no cam or crank sensor issues as well. The CARFAX was clean. The estate was asking $5800 for it, but they sold it to me for $5400. I thought it was a decent deal and while I spent some money on repairs, I am happy we spent the money.
Our son, who lives up around DeKalb, now has a much better car than the old 1996 C220 with a lot of paint issues and a little rust. I now have that one and will be fixing the rust and trying to get the heat to work before selling it.

WTF are you talking about...my C32 was delivered late Sep 2001...the 350 motor was years after that...if I recall, Kleemann used the OEM IHI S/C once the AMG version hit the market, and their tuner kits are pulley swaps, ECU mapping, free flow exhausts and cam swaps...Kleemann DID NOT swap the S/C on the C32 or SLK32...Kleemann has ALWAYS been a forced induction tuner, but AMG w/IHI was what they tuned after those cars hit the market...at best your talking about lower boost and an arguably better intercooler, therefore less heat stress, but the AMG was an ON DEMAND S/C while the original Kleemann was an ALWAYS-boosted blower...check their site and you'll see they don't install a new S/C with their K1, K2 or K3 packages, but re-tune the OEM S/C from IHI.

@@gatorbuilt lol, not even sure why you are angry. i wasn't even talking about kleemann. i was talking about the people overseas in HK and Taiwan swapping out the heads on the m112 with the 3.7 and use the m113 pistons. no one kept the IHI because even tho it may out spec'd others at the same displacement, it wasn't enough for the 3.7l. i've known at least 5 different C32 in Taiwan that ran whipples after the swap (maybe they did it more for thermo efficiency, but shows the IHI stock unit was pretty maxed out) and also the E37 M112 started productions mid 2002, not years after the E32 came out.

Back in the day, my daily was a W115 240D. I found a mid to late 80's AMG690 in Aurora at U-pull it. Front brakes were direct fit, other than bleeder location. A 2x4 to stop the pistons with the bleeder up top worked. Best stopping car ever. I also had hella round h4's with a 100a gm alternator

@@kylephipps8989 its called criticism my friend, sorry if i insulted you.. I am not "diss" (not sure i get what it means anyway) i just get annoyed by the lack of inspiration when comes to the creator asking for engagement. He is not asking his audience to engage for a real reason but just to create traffic. This is how you loosing the interest of your audience. you asking them to engage but you never reply back, so the audience member feels betrayed.
*by the way except my wording there , for sure plenty of grammar and mistakes in my comments, since English is not my first language. I do try though. Also if you want to let me know how to correct say what i want, i would honesty appreciate it..

Nice find! W203’s have those rust points, especially the pre-facelifted ones. It doesn’t have the extended AMG detail on the interior and the gauge cluster. I drive a C32, the M112k can take on the top end of the 350 motor to increase the displacement similar to had Renntech did. The M112 shake is common, replace the sparks and wires to them, usually solves it. It’s worth 8k to 12k. C32’s go for 3k in Canada :(
