  • This is a fly designed and tied by Ray Stout of Maine. This fly is used all across Maine to catch land lock salmon chasing smelts.

    This man is a Maine fishing legend. So glad to have artifacts like this to better understand our sport's history. If only there were some videos of Carrie Stevens!

    What is he using for the body? Is that foam?

      Yes. It’s a very particular type of closed cell foam-the kind that comes protecting electronics sometimes. He uses a piece of pipe to cut the cylinders. If you’re in Maine, Annika Rod and Fly in Brewer sells the foam pre cut.
