Funny enough this was the first Broadway show I saw as a child. I remember sitting in the audience and being mesmerized by the scenery and how well to me as a kid. They had adapted my childhood favorite Disney movie. Glad to see some recordings of this production have made its way to RUclips. I actually think this show is what ignited my love for theatre. Ashman was and is a genius lyrically. More people should appreciate his work imo.
I remember seeing this in college during previews. My jaw dropped for Boggess, Burgess & Scott. Top notch performances. Titus belting UTS (!!!) Cannot wait for the new film 🧜🏾♂️
Sheree was brilliant with how they wrote Ursula. I just hated her arc and how they pretty much took ALL the bite out of Ursula being a villain. Same problem happened in Aladdin. Idk why Disney has gone with this trend of watering down its villains to being more comic relief if anything.
This makes me soooo sad because they had everything to do something wonderful but the creative choices were just sooo bad. The new added songs were sooo good, the cast was wonderful, if only they kept Ursula's tranformation into Vanessa and made some changes on the design of a lot of stuff...
