Great episode! I'm a couple dozen lessons back, but jumped ahead to listen to this one. All this is really helpful. I'm curious if you are also doing a sort of "mental" preparation, or thinking slightly ahead of where you are playing to prepare for upcoming passages (if that makes sense!)

@@waylonwillie5736 Good question! Absolutely thinking ahead : )

Ah yes, another thing to think hard about as a beginner! :)
But at least this concept seems to be universally applicable always and probably becomes more automatic, even if it can be always improved, when you've played so much music that the patterns repeat and that your mind if free to think more ahead rather than just fighting for your life in order to play the current note somewhat decently. :)

Absolutely! It definitely does get easier, even if you can always be pickier : )

What do you think of this as a possible preparation in your example measure 1:
2nd finger c (do not lift C), also 3rd finger d (not plucked yet). Then pluck 4th finger d and index c 4th cs, then lift d and c is already held for next pluck.
I can't figure out whether I can attach images here, so I'll send one as a private message.

@@laudonschuett3019 I just made a leaping catch of the bundle of wisdom. I see a lot of broken-field finger runs in my future.
