I've just got an java internship for 3 months at age of 33. I was working as an accountant for several years. I hope to get a junior position after this internship.
@@CARTUNE. Well I would recommend Java Masterclass on Udemy by Tim Buchalka. It's awesome. Than learned MySQL, and Spring and built several web services using Spring Boot. But 90% of the interview was about understanding basic Java concepts
I'm also 33, just started a role as a full software engineer. I dived into coding 2 and a half years ago, I first took CS50 and with that knowledge I landed my first developer role just after 3 months of studying and 1 year later I got a junior position as a data engineer and just switched back to software engineering.
What do you focus on during these hours? Besides work are these hours allocated to projects or challenges? If so what kind? Thank you if you have the time to reply.
1. Deliberate Work with effort Pushing distractions out of arms-reach It takes time to regain focus Push yourself into feeling uncomfortable Code a lot All your efforts and creations should be teaching you something new. 2. Contexts Practive concepts in many other contexts to better understand the underlying concepts 3. Frequent testing (not rereading) Test yourself often, pushing yourself to extract information out of your own brain. By exposing it to this stimulus constantly, youre tricking it into thinking its vital for survival. In coding, focus on creating projects using a specific coding skill set that youre interested in. 4. Timely & Accurate Feedback With coding this is a lot simpler than other aspects of life since you get errors when the coding doesnt work. But the best thing is to apply yourself into a coding workplace. --- Take courses Demonstate your understanding of what youre learning by immediately doing it yourself Wait (takes time for mind to build connections in your brain, sleep is vital for this) After the end of some course for instance, take that knowledge and apply it into something you make
Another thing that people don't mention is diet, a good diet = better brain performance. For me an omnivore base diet(more meat and cooking with animal fat) really improves my brain performance
Currently I'm in code academy learning python. Trying to learn at least an hour every day however it's really hard when you have a full-time job. I'm exhausted at the end of the day and I'm only 22% of the way of the course and it's been a few weeks. Find myself for getting concepts my previously learned and grow frustrated. How do getthe motivation and momentum going

I had to subscribe after this video. I’d love if you could make a video about how to use AI to help you program, while still learning, without letting AI perform all of the work and making you feel like an imposter. I’m a relatively new programmer who can build very minimal apps now. The latest app that I’m building I had to use AI to assist with some chunks that I knew, but didn’t know how to properly type out the syntax in its full extent. The feature ended up working, but I couldn’t help but feel like I cheated and didn’t know what I was doing enough to translate to a career in development. Ultimately, I’m learning to code so I can build startups, but I’d love to be good with my natural ability.
ADHD and Autistic here, I started studying Python a couple weeks ago and finished my first prototype for a program I can use at work to make me 3 times more efficient. The code is basic and probably terrible but it’s functional. From there I’ll rewrite the program to be more efficient as my knowledge base grows.
Excuse me,you said that we try to get feedback.I am currently taking a cs50 class and some of the problem set I don’t an ideal on how to do it and I don’t want to watch a tutorial on solving the problem set.can you please a video on how to Learn things on Google manually.will appreciate it if you respond
Perfect timing bro! I was literally reading Make It Stick this week and wondering how to apply those techniques to coding. Book is a game changer. Great video bro!
Hey Eli, did this book teach you how to remember better? I would imagine so, I'm learning accelerated learning by Jonathan Levi. I believe that remembering is very important in coding. Isn't that common sense?
@@RobertSpiller Yeah the book is a game changer. Is that another good book? I didn't realize how important memory is for learning in general. Memory is involved in everything skill based. It completely changed how I'm learning piano and now I'm able to memorize and play entire songs with less mistakes in like 1-2 days! I can't wait to see how it helps me with coding.
Thanks for these amazing tips! Funny how school don't teach us how to properly learn. I been using the Silva Mind Control techniques and it has helped me tremendously with learning coding.

I recently finished 12h grade and now I am learning coding, I got my result and it not good at all, I am very passionate about coding, and I enjoy it a lot. What Should I do, Should I pursue a degree in computer science (I am never getting an admission in good university), or I should just focus on learning how to code on my own.
Find my passion as a programmer and started working on it. Started learning python with a friends laptop because I don’t have one. I need a laptop to fulfill my dream to become a good programmer 😊
I got a big whiteboard for my room and now every time I walk past it I think about that curious algorithm that I want to explore more and end up write something on the board and test it later. “The best codes are written when you’re supposed to be doing something else”. That’s when your most creative!
i used to believe i could code but after trying and trying i realized that people like myself don't get to do cool stuff. guess it is just how life is.
You’re either not interested enough or not focused enough. Things don’t just magically click, you don’t find hobbies and passions because they just click in your head, you find them by trying and sticking with things. Force yourself to do it every single day. Anybody can code, anybody can learn, the difference that sets people apart is discipline. Don’t pull the whole woe is me, nobody will save you, nobody will do the work for you, only you can do that. Set a timer, put your phone on the other side of the room and code for 30 minutes at least.
