@@Rice992 think he probably did have some brain damage from the trolley crash but I don’t think it’s so simple as to say that alone drove him crazy. I reality I think he was the strain of leadership, the lost of loved ones, the crash, Hosea’s death and the slow biting realization that his fight is a unwinnable one. But the ultimate moment I think broke him was Arthur’s death. It’s true he had been getting crazier and crazier before it but I think that was the moment he snapped. It was the moment he realized he made a mistake he couldn’t fix. He had lost, not just the gang, not just the money but someone who was loyal to him and was as a son to him. In that moment I think he had truly “lost faith in everything and everyone” as John put it.
I think Dutch started majorly falling apart when Hosea died because it broke him because they've been best friends for so long but the deaths of everyone impacted him heavily too. and in rdr1 he had nothing, or nobody cause everyone he knew or cared about was dead. but he is such a well written character
damn these are a ton of hidden or deleted cutscenes and dialogue that should've made it into the game. We needed more of dutch and hosea interacting imo
DUTCH was my favorite character after John and Arthur He always protected the gang. And to people saying he didn't care, He had brain damage from the train crash in Saint denis
Wasnt confirmed tho, could just have been all the stress and everyone and everything that was against him. Seeing that slowly but surely they were gonna get kill. Could have made him turn mad
He didn’t get brain damage from the crash he was going insane before that, Javier even mentions Dutch killing an innocent women in a bad way on the ferry in black water, Dutch is my favourite character because of his complexity, he went insane due to the decline of his gang and as time went on he slowly went insane
Dutch is by far a very Sympathetic and Broken villain he lost everyone he ever cared for he lost 2 of his best friends who have been with him from the start when Hosea died Dutch turned crazy when Arthur died Dutch turned insane
Thing about Dutch is he's not an evil man. He started off good, with the best intentions. But as Captain Monroe says "a desperate man is often the most dangerous" thats what Dutch is. He always has a plan, a way out and when he's faced with changing times and the reality the world isn't how it once was, thats something he can't save his family from. So in his fear and desperation he embraces the words of someone who tells him what he wants to hear and panics when everything starts to slip away.
i love dutch more than myself, he was a calm character and i still love him. i wasted so much tears on duth, when he changed, when he was leading his gang to the end, he was trying his best but he really changed to worst. sure, he's a nad guy and now i'm scared everyone will say something on me but i love dutch, and i whised hr would never change. great video, bud.
Dutchs character and his story is so sad. I mean throughout the whole story i always forgave him, no matter what he did. Gotta say though, all i knew was the early RDR2 Dutch, that caring, loving, honourable man. If i had played RDR1 i might think differently. Ingame he was like a father to me, i thought you can't blame him for everything. Micah and Hoseas death were the worst things that could have happened to the gang and especially to him.
@@rastazorastra1772 I meant Micah in general + Hoseas Death. Not Micahs death. At the point of Arthurs death Dutchs real self was already destroyed i think.
Its easy to like and get inspired by Arthur Morgan as he is the pivot of the entire plot, but Dutch is more of a well written character, he did try to do the best for the gang, albeit in his own way abd make the best of the situation.. i guess everyone has a Dutch hidden inside them .
Dutch only betrayed arthur and John because micha told him to and needed all the people dutch trusted dead and for him to think that there turning on him and that's why micha killed miss Grimshaw
I wish Rockstar made a remake of RDR2 and put it different, where they don't end the Gang, but where they're successful, i don't hate Micah, and i don't want Rockstar to put a good ending for Arthur, and not for Micah.
Thankyou guys for watching :)
We are making plans whit this!
Dutch is such a deep character, one of the best antagonists in gaming history

Нет. Всё произошло гораздо раньше. Тот же случай с Анджело Бронте. Или же случай в блекуотере
The dialogue with Hosea hits so hard, amazing work
Thanks! :)

plan in the afterlife
Plan to make Arthur not hate him anymore

I cried while seeing Arthur on the hight mountain and facing the sunrise 😢

Arthur

Arthur is realistically more broken losing everybody he cares about his son his lover his wife.

More of these, with other characters would be dope
