I'm not Christian but I went to a Catholic high school and was in the orchestra my entire high school career. By my senior year, I was pretty much the only clarinet in the entire band, aside from one other senior girl who barely knew how to play and never showed up to rehearsals, so the director had a special place in her heart for me. At our Christmas concert my senior year, the the choir sang this as their final number, and the director surprised all of us by inviting the orchestra members up on stage to sing with the teachers and the choir. The little auditorium rang with all of our voices and I remember feeling so proud of our school, and of our music program, and of my achievements during my high school career. It made me so happy to sing with all my friends and my teachers on stage the final night before our final winter break of high school and that's why this will always be one of my favorite Christmas songs. I'm not Christian but I went to a Catholic high school and was in the orchestra my entire high school career. By my senior year, I was pretty much the only clarinet in the entire band, aside from one other senior girl who barely knew how to play and never showed up to rehearsals, so the director had a special place in her heart for me. At our Christmas concert my senior year, the the choir sang this as their final number, and the director surprised all of us by inviting the orchestra members up on stage to sing with the teachers and the choir. The little auditorium rang with all of our voices and I remember feeling so proud of our school, and of our music program, and of my achievements during my high school career. It made me so happy to sing with all my friends and my teachers on stage the final night before our final winter break of high school and that's why this will always be one of my favorite Christmas songs.
