Linda Hardin not necessarily. Words hold meaning. If you could say anything and get the same result regardless of the lyrics, there's no point of having lyrics. That would e like saying there's no meaning. Maybe you only go for the sound, but some people are moved by sound and words/meaning. Some songs have made my cry by what was being said in the songs mixed with the beauty of the music and the passion in the singer's voice. Just like certain movies have made me cry just by what was happening or just said. So no, you can't tell someone that their feelings would be the same with different lyrics. Some people value God and what He's done for them.
levtick J no it's no bull, you bigot. How can you tell someone that they would feel the same regardless of the lyrics if you're not them? Everyone is different. I will say obviously it's more than only the lyrics. I play the piano, sing, write, produce and compose. I can admit, the tone and emotion in the voice are a factor. I would never deny that, but they're only part of it for most people. For some people, maybe you, that's all they need, but for most people, it can also be the quality of the chords in the background or harmonies that are going along with the melody, the fact that the song is building up to a climax, and finally, the words that are coming out of the singer's mouth. Some people get moved more by different aspects of the song or performance. I have had songs where the singing and instrumentation was the same throughout the different verses, but the words that were sang made the difference and made me cry. Doesn't matter what you register first. The lyrics can still make the difference. By your logic, no matter what is being said, if the song sounds good, everyone will love it and the words make no difference. So why even have lyrics if they don't mean anything. If everything woukd be the same while taking something out, It's meaningless and a waste if time. that's what you're implying when you tell someone they would feel the same way regardless of the lyrics. I guess if a poet makes someone cry or compels them, it's just the emotion and time that did it, not what they said. A motivational speech too huh? What is being said means nothing ad long as You have a good tone and emotion huh? You sound like the type who only listens to music that sounds like it has a good beat and get nothing else from the song. are you telling me, if all was the same, and at that part, she sang, "Fruit rollups and juice," the commenter woukd be just as blown away, or do the words matter after all?

Mariah's version of O Holy Night is probably the hardest Christmas song ever. It has everything-low notes, belts, and of course, that B6 whistle note at the end! It requires such a big range, and it also requires you to switch between low notes and high notes and vice versa seamlessly! Mariah does everything so effortlessly it's insane!

The song is very difficult to sing, but the beautiful Mariah Carey sings it very relaxed, with added improvisation which is increasingly difficult, but very beautiful. As far as I know, no one has ever performed this song as beautifully as Mariah Carey. I was very impressed.

this version is like Frankenstein's bride. Very beautiful but stitched together in unnatural way. Half of these vocals wouldn't even be heard in a crowded room like this. The vocal lines are layered on top of eachother in studio (unless Mariah has two sets of mouths). Overall I really love it but again it's a studio creation.

Mariah Carey had such an incredibly amazing, stunning & astounding vocal talent & octave range that none other singers had.
I'd tried & searched hard to find the flaws in her vocal voice on this video, but was absolutely speechless & had no words to describe how intriguingly captivated & fascinated by her high pitch & low notes she'd remarkably displayed flawlessly from the beginning to the end of "O Holy Night".
MC had nailed this Christmas ballad completely & raised the bar so high that no one could ever achieved/accomplished. Just truly blown me away for sure & this uplifting, soulful MC style version will never go outdated & forgotten for future decades to come.

How is it that every time I listen to this my eyes get wet? I am so thankful that i believe in JESUS CHRIST . As much of a sinner I've been, i finally realize that i too might have a shot at seeing him when i pass on. They should play this in schools every where first thing in the morning. It would set the tone for accomplishments and morals.
