All I can say is God bless you. I started in analog in the 80s and mixing totally in the box does smush or "constipate" a mix. This actually made be teary-eyed. Well done indeed.
I have learnt a lot from Mark over the years and his attention to detail is what always impresses me most. He having worked with Bill Schnee says it all. Congratulations on your new plugin.
I tried the demo and have to say that it sounds pretty fantastic. However, I put it on a mix and replaced my usual mixbus EQ Knif Audio Soma with the Sidecar with it and got it to 98% sounding the same. The harmonic distortion modeling on the Pulsar is second to none and the additional compressor certainly rounds of the transients beautifully. When I blind tested both versions of my mix I was hardly able to distinguish between the two, however when I did a blind shootout, I preferred the Knif Soma version 100% of the time. What I found particularly interesting was, that I had to put on 120% stereo spread and the mono maker to 60Hz to achieve similarity. So that’s probably something of the special sauce happening in the Pulsar. Nonetheless great sounding plugin, albeit pretty pricey.
You had already finished the mix with the Knif, so your ears have already got accustomed to that EQ. Knif is tube based EQ while ours are virtual op-amp based. So it has a different character. Update this thread once you start on a new mix and now in reverse, use the P455 EQ and at the end take it out and use the Knif and see how you feel about it.
I think the plugin looks beautiful mostly, but the top bar looks like Waves in an unpleasant way. Strange, as Pulsar usually does suuuuch a top notch job with the design of their stuff.
Loving this on busses and master! I would really recommend the ability to bypass the A/D as an option AND more wet/dry options esp when we are using on a master....sometimes I want a little of the color but still some transparency from before. Preferring the Line Amp off on the master to keep it super open. Also wet/dry on the compressor :) Anyway, loving how smooth and beautiful it sounds.
Sounds great in terms of eq & overall colour, but the absence of a proper easily relatable gain reduction meter, the unnecessarily clunky procedure for output gain compensation and the price are just silly, IMHO. 🚫 Also, I would worry if my choices of A/D conversion made such an audible difference as the two being emulated (??) in this plugin seem to exhibit. To each their own, I guess. 🤷🏼♂️
The Gain Reduction read out is clear as day giving you exact number down to the 10th of a decimal point. Hitting SHIFT to get Auto gain is not at all clunky when you are wanting to use it on and off on the fly versus having to hit a button to turn it on and off. The opposite really. Price for 2 plugins is very fair.

@@retromograph3893 There are now programs that take a full song and separate each stem. So why you see it hard that a plugin is able to recreate the separation and summing?

Hi Marc Daniel & Pulsar. If you truly wanted to show how accurate of an emulation this plugin is you should have done a proper A/B test. another "best in a market" one.... .5 years of development, etc..Right! Anyway - these are .too expensive no matter how good they are. Pulsar Modular prices are ridiculous. I wonder if anyone paid them money they ask for their very "special" products. If you want analog - get hardware , don't trust "emulation algorithm" and other B.S.
You should stop fooling people! Teach them how to mix properly (so the mix would not sound "constipated in the first place") instead of turd polishing with $250 plugin - that's how I really feel.
No one, absolutely, no one! Can "teach" you how to mix a record. Maybe you're just not good at mixing. Reason being... this product is phenomenal, and I heard it as soon as I inserted it. If placed on submix or master bus of a project that's "mixed" well, it shines bright like diamond. Seriously, I own a lot of plugins and some hardware, and this thing is the real deal. Despite the price tag, it's worth science put behind it.
250 is more than fair for the bundle and 189 into price is a steal. The plugins have excellent audio quality and that will save you money the long way, as those tools will sit in your folder a very long time; and they will replace a lot of stuff, if you start to compare.
You sound like you are a paid plant for Pulsar modular. I've never heard a normal person spit out so many numbers to convince a total stranger why they "need" something. It's similar to the Jedi mind trick approach where one simply tells another "what you say is too expensive is actually a bargain. you will buy it and it will make your life better. You will feel whole again after buying 200- 400 dollar plugins that make such a small difference that only other producers and engineers will be able to discern, but trust me you need this." @@nichttuntun3364

So happy for you Marc, very well deserved!
It just sounds so good on a 2bus! Can't wait to discover where else I will use it 🙂! Great job!
Bravo for your work. Fantastic plugin!
Congrats y'all, sounds great. 🔥
can we just take a step back and really enjoy the way Mark explains how this plugin works? its so natural and the examples are so high quality it makes everything just feel so natural.
Fantastic Ziad and Marc, sounds fantastic!! Im a deep P42 User plus the P65 and the Lunar lander, great for special sauce!!
Great plugin!! Bravo Marc
If Marc Daniel Nelson condones it, I buy it. Trust that man completely. This sounds great and awesome to see a collaboration between you guys!
velvety puffiness. :)
That's the one I caught as well :)
Been testing this on some mixes for different clients and it’s exactly what I have been looking for for so long 👏🏼👏🏼🥹 incredible incredible job on this. Love all the different colors and how the bands react when cut or pushed, and the analog openness is so great. Almost went for the UAD Mastering Comp for a similar effect but this has way more. Sorry I’m rambling.. THANK YOU!
wow - fantastic! great presentation
Tested couple of days and this plugin is just amazing! Make tiny steps in each section and after that press on/off you can hear huge difference - thanks MDN!
Im so close to buying a 5500. I probably still will, but this thing is cooool
access analog?
@@jorykevinberger7047 love it, use it all the time. But i like to own my favorite gear
Exciting news!
Sounds amazing and Marc seems like a genuine guy backing this plugin. No snake oil. I pulled the trigger, the separation, depth and sheen it brings sounds very professional.
Awesome
watching Marc's excitement throughout this is just infectious. I know he doesn't connect his name to many brands or companies, so to see him so pumped about this is a massive endorsement of authenticity!
another "best in a market" one.... .5 years of development, etc..Right! Anyway - these are .too expensive no matter how good they are. Pulsar Modular prices are ridiculous. I wonder if anyone paid them money they ask for their very "special" products. If you want analog - get hardware , don't trust "emulation algorithm" and other B.S.
tell me how you really feel?
