    I own several Martin guitars, but I've grown to appreciate Santa Cruz guitars. Thanks for the nice chat with Richard.

    Greetings from Finland. My OM from 1994 is just getting better all the time. Thanks to Richard for the factory tour in 1996. Precious memories.

    I just purchased a pre-owned left-handed 2017 H13 and my other guitars are unhappy. Richard is my HERO! To think my guitar came from that place makes makes me happy. Matt (Darwin Australia)

    I can recall going to a guitar shop in Massachusetts about 20 years ago and seeing a Santa Cruz for the 1st time. It was a pre-war style D and the sound was amazing! I find myself wanting to be in that shop and being around all of the people and creativity that create these beautiful instruments. Absolutely Amazing! :) Some day!! :)

    Great video. Just ordered my first Santa Cruz guitar - a second hand 2002 D-model. They're extremely expensive in general here, but the ones I've heard are absolutely at the top, with a few other boutique builders, for giving you the Martin sound with extra balance and complexity. It's wonderful to see they're using reclaimed woods. Those sinker logs can become very special.
    Loved the philosophy, and the ethos and decency of the company. Mind you, how could you be anything but wise and good if you're building such great guitars.

    Great video. My local custom luthier recommended Santa Cruz guitars as the best of the best. I respect him. So, that’s good enough for me. Thanks.

    I have owned dozens of acoustic guitars in my life, including a Santa Cruz that I bought about 5 years ago. It was a fine guitar but at the time I also owned a pair of Collings instruments. So, after playing them and thinking about them I realized that note for note they were too similar to make a choice but the playability of the Collings guitars was much more to my liking than the SC. Also, and this was the thing that bugged me the most: SC tends to add a plastic or vinyl binding along the edges of their guitar necks whereas most makers of expensive instruments do not usually add that. I have always disliked white binding along the edges of necks and in the end, that contributed to my desire to let that SC find a new home.

    You cannot compare the Martin guitars to the Santa Cruz ones. Martin is assembling most guitars en mass whereas Santa Cruz does it very carefully with thought and precision

      My goal is to some day own a Santa Cruz custom 12 fret!

    Very generous. I like my 2 martins very much but my next guitar will be Santa Cruz or Preston Thompson. I am leaning towards SC because he didn't name his company after himself (very telling :-))

      Those Thompsons seem amazing as well. I find when you get to this level of quality, the differences are not between good and bad, everything is good, they're just also each their own unique entity.

    I would LOVE to "See and Hear" a Pro Santa Cruz Guitar made from Solid NON-TONE WOODS. (No Ply)
    And then Compare how the Guitar Sounds to the same Model Guitar made with Real Solid Tone-Woods. (No Ply)

      @@geezusLive-OF Hardly pointless 'generally joe'. If you know guitars, particularly high end acoustics and you play enough, eventually you will come to a place where you know what you want and like over others and that decision, usually conscious, will affect everything you do including the way you play. The only pointless comment was your own, chappy.

    Look at the dude in the background at 9:06. Looks like Will fucked up the binding.

    • @58landman
      @58landman 2 года назад

      He should not worry. SC keeps miles of that stuff on hand and I'm surprised that it doesn't offer a model made completely of binding.
