  • These windows where fitted professionally but if you feel you can weld stainless really well then do it yourself as you can buy the glass from most manufacturers although its not cheap this windows was about £1000 and the other was a bit cheaper because its smaller.

    What about condensation? I tried a glass aquarium outdoors and being the water was so much colder then the air..it was like a Coke bottle on a summer day. Also,is it glass or plastic glass? How do you keep algae off it? Chemicals? Which?

    Hi Adam, love the pond and comments of the fish liking the window more than you. I'm building similar outside, built the pond 2m x 4m x 2m with a 2m x 800mm 316 stainless steel frame 3mm thick 4cm wide. How did you prep your fame before fibreglassing onto it, thinking rud down with wet and dry then degrease? Any comements would be greatly appreciated.

    Thats great. 1 inch thick, what thickness is a minimum, i got 10.8mm laminated for a size of 470mm x 340mm. Small window and a small pond, 3000 litres.

    • @AdamJulyan
      @AdamJulyan  7 лет назад

      I don’t really know for me it’s more of how thick do you feel comfortable that you won’t accidentally break it for example a normal double glazed window might not break if you hit it with a ball but if you hit a pond window that is already stressed how hard do you think you can hit it before it breaks. In my case quite hard as before I fitted mine I tested it by supporting it at each end and standing in the middle it had no issue so I don’t think I will ever accidentally break it.

    give us some dimensions in mm of that particular window thickness length width as a reference point since I have a very large polycarp window on my pond but I want to replace it with glass that I need to kind of figure out the economics of health IQ since it's a very long window it's a 1.4 m long window 500mm high and then there's a 45° short piece that I can make for a pillow and then it's another 800 m section now I've got a single piece of polycarb 5 mm thick going all around and it works fine but I wanna replace the polycarp with glass eventually my bottom window which 62 my down below is fully framed and that's 17 mm thick armour-plated glass but not low oxide so I'm thinking I can get away on the top section which is 500mm high even though it's wide but it is supported left right and bottom and with a sword of funky pillar pushing it right in the centre of the weakest point but not a full pillar just a spot pillar that like a hand holding the glass in the middle on the 1.4 m long or wide section so I'm thinking I can get away with armour-plated glass 10 mm thick since it is well supported I wish I could give you a photograph

    Hello Adam silly question I know ur glass is 1 inch thick how wide is the from becouse time you put the silicone in should the frame be bigger then the 1 inch glass??

    kevin

    • @AdamJulyan
      @AdamJulyan  8 лет назад +1

      Hi, not really no as the silicone is not that thick and there is a render and fibreglass onto the frame so that makes it thicker anyway. if you make it bigger the glass wont be level with the fibreglass.

      Adam

    • @rosscartwright89
      @rosscartwright89 8 лет назад

      Thanks for the reply Adam. Last question, do you put the gold label on the glass and stick to the fibreglass frame or do you put the gold label on the frame and stick the glass to it? Or does it really not matter? Thanks again

    • @AdamJulyan
      @AdamJulyan  8 лет назад

      I would put the glue on the frame so that you don't get it in the wrong position on the glass also you can see through the glass that it has made a good contact but you cannot see through the frame. so if it's on the frame first you will know it has a good contact with the frame. It's one of those things where you have to just go for it there is no right or wrong way unless it leaks then you did it the wrong way. but it wont leak unless you forget to use glue (Gold label).

    Hi Adam, really like your pond. I'm planning on fixing a viewing window to my raised garden pond. Can I order a normal laminated window from a window company or does it need to be ordered specially from a pond window company? The size of the window is approx 810mm x 420mm.

    • @AdamJulyan
      @AdamJulyan  8 лет назад +1

      +Asif Adam If you contact a glass company they will know what you need. they will ask the dimensions and amount of water it will be holding back and depth under water and they will tell you what glass to use. If they dont do that find another glass company.

    Hello Adam sorry to bother you hopefully my pond build will be starting at the end of June or the first 2 weeks in July once pond is done how long do I have to wait until I can start adding kio ?? and what do u think about under water lighting ? as I am new to this what should my ph and ammonia levels be at all times please?
    best wish
    kevin

    • @AdamJulyan
      @AdamJulyan  8 лет назад +1

      Hi, If you use a dechlorinator you can put the fish in straight away checkout my video on mains drinking water and koi. I don’t believe in putting lights under the water in some cases it looks good in most it looks tacky but most importantly fish do not have eye lids and having bright lighting shining at them is a little cruel. Your ph level should be around 7.5 no lower than 7 no higher than 8 and your good. Ammonia should be as close to 0mg/l as possible watch this video - ruclips.net/video/ZLtXdCRrACo/видео.html on my water testing levels and what I expect. Although be careful with the stocking levels for the first year until the pond is mature as you could struggle with ammonia etc until everything has settled.

    hi Adam ok thank you mate I was thinking of adding 2 fish at a time and I get what ur saying about under water lighting. so I am not going to add any. so the pond is going to be 20ft long by 12ft wide by 6ft deep with a profi drum self cleaning bakki shower and a heater two bottom drains so I'm hoping the water waste a crystal Clear 95% of the time. I am having grp to fiberglassing the pond they said do not get it rendered as they use like a sponge token first then the fiberglass what do you think.
    best wishes
    kevin

    • @AdamJulyan
      @AdamJulyan  8 лет назад

      Sounds awesome. That’s the same volume as my pond 9000gal. To be honest with that filter system and volume of water you want to get it loaded heavy. Fill it up get the pumps running leave it 24hours then put all your fish in let the ammonia get really high keep feeding for 1-2weeks if the ammonia is still high then stop feeding but after 2-3weeks it will be In good condition. That is the best way to kick start ceramic media if you had plastic media then I would only add 2 fish a day. And yes I would imagine it would clear 100% of the time unless you add something to make it not clear.

    You have the largest indoor koi pond that I know of that has a window. I gotta ask, would you ever build another koi pond without a window? Indoors or not?

    • @AdamJulyan
      @AdamJulyan  7 лет назад

      This is an easy question. No i would never build another pond without a window even my QT tank has a window i think its great for the fish to be able to see what is going on it's great for seeing if the fish have any issues. It relaxes the fish and gives a much better chance of them being social or at least not scared because they can see you as if you are in the tank rather than hanging over it.
      Adam

    • @KyleenDrake
      @KyleenDrake 7 лет назад

      I am still thinking about building a koi tank with window, bottom drain, the works, kind of like yours. But starting to add up the starting costs and costs of running it, food costs and supplies you need to keep the water clean and trouble shooting supplies just in case.. not to mention back up funds in case the pump fails, or a generator in case the electric goes out awhile.. Not to mention, going on vacation seems harder than usual. Make ya think again. And thanks. From the people I've spoken to so far, everyone says the same thing. Only regret they have is that they didn't make the window bigger. lol

This tank was preformed = ruclips.net/user/edit?o=U&video_id=0rJ7FZ2HVpw but its only 1000gal instead of 9000gal they where both made by kcfiberglass in Barnsley.
