Hi Brian. I Love gravity dredging. We found that it is best to remove the nozzle and let the line breathe from time to time to maximize the flow rate and let it clear the box. Also we used a crash box on our sluice instead of a flare. It's works great with 4 ft min of fall. The problem with gravity is when a rock gets on the end of the nozzle it slows the flow way down. You can't hog material, you have to sip it. Name of the game is to keep max flow at all times with the occasional let her run free time. Love watching your videos. Wish you all the best.

Smooth pipe also works best for gravity feed.

Would using 4in pipe as the supply, but necked down to supply pressure to a 3in suction nozzle or even a 2in be better or make no difference at all?

Hey Bryan, I suggest increasing the angle of the sluice to allow rocks to flow out. Gushing water over the box will blow out the gold. Your rifles will easily handle a 10-degree pitch. My Gold Rattler operates at 12 degrees and far less water. Give it a try ? 👍 Also, if can get a hold of some punch plate, it will make more slick than that metal grating.

Perfect timing. I was revisiting your zip line video this morning (I’m in the process of setting up a variation on that), and I thought you were about to do another one. 😂 that is, until I saw you wheel the hose down the embankment. 😂. Great stuff, Bryan. Thanks for continuing to put these videos together.

Great video bro, I really appreciate it because I’ve been thinking about setting up a gravity dredge for a long while. After watching numerous videos, most of them encounter a lot of problems. I think in the ideal situation it could work but rally have to have the perfect spot and enough hose, nice gold!

Perhaps some gold collected in the ribs of the flex pipe or you could line the pipe with miners moss. Wonder how yo could check it out. Might end up being the mother of all sluices. It`s very entertaining watching videos of people going out hunting for gold. I want some too.

@Fdeubcfhbbjhfd perhaps turn the pipe inside out and try it and see what happens?
Could use some of the flexible corrugated plastic drainage/agriculture pipe. I think some of it comes with a split down the middle so you could pry it open for a peek.

That was a great vudeo Brian! Looks like NH someplace.
Always wanted to see a gravity fed rig. I wonder if you has stuck with the 66' then tried the smaller box. Rather then adding in additional hose.
Did you need a venturi put on the suck end of the hose, or did the water just flowing into the hose through your metal pipe create the suction? You never showed entire pipe so i didnt know if there is the second curve of venturi on it or not.

Curious if you set it back together and had that bigger sluice at a steeper angle but under water. Have the water in the rapids over the sides completely see if that works. Smaller sluice is the easy answer.
