Hi, We are Jimmy and Tah,
American and Thai Millennials left the career in military and finance to become full-time travelers, documenting our memories along the way. Met in August 2015 in South Korea, kicked off traveling in September 2017 with $4000 in a savings account and first started publishing our journey on the way we live the life we have always dreamt of - traveling and being able to work wherever we love ( as long as there is Wi-Fi and coffee)
☼ CURRENT STATUS: homeless, live the life out of luggage, travel non-stop, and grow love along the way.

I am Taiwanese. I am so grateful that you explain the history of these places and events very well and with a lot of the seldom-seen but accurate photos. The history here has so many layers here and it is so great that you can explore it deeper.
About the Ài yù which translate literally to "Love Jade" is from a plant. So we put the seed into the water and rub it for 10 minute and the jelly texture will come out. So it is all natural and it is also not gelatin (which is from animals).
Thank you so much!
Well say , totally agreed with you.
Taipei is my favorite city in Asia. It used to be Tokyo, but Taipei is better. For me. It's basically a smaller version of Tokyo, love it....
what's your favorite city throughout all continents? Intrigued because Tokyo is my favorite in Asia also
Great intro of the 228 incident. Hope more people know about Taiwan.
Taiwan is such a cool country to visit!
Is it a country or is it China? 🤔
@@darrylk808 we are an independent country!
@@darrylk808 PRC keep saying Taiwan is part of theirs but never rules Taiwan a single day..
Taiwan is flippin' awesome.
Taiwan has its own autonomous government different from China. It has its own military and spending. The written font is different from China.
But who cares! Taiwan, China, they're all just a power struggle game played by the highest ranking officials.
Who could say in 50 years CCP wouldn't collapse, then both China and Taiwan unified under one banner of democracy?
Or who could say that China wouldn't take Taiwan by force in just 5 years? Or Taiwan gave up on its own democracy and instead look towards the other shore for financial support? This is why the CCP daily news development is more exciting to watch than prime time TV series lol!
Taipei is beautiful. Thanks for sharing!
It really is!
@@DivertLiving You forgot the 2 hour trip from the airport to the city.. Just shows how Corrupt and inefficient taiwan government thugs are ( ー̀ωー́ )
This is one of the reasons why we love traveling: learning and experiencing life from the local point of view, not only from what media says.

You guys should RESEARCH on how the NATIVES were MURDERED and almost WIPED OUT to make room for either the Japanese or Chinese...
Seriously enjoyed your recounting of the story behind the monument about the uprising against Chinese oppression started by that one brave tobacco lady. Nice job, both of you. 😎👍
Thank you so so much!
Amazing video! I have seen many vids to tell their stay in Taiwan. Yours is one of the best! Love it from the bottom of heart as Taipei citizen. Keep more coming~
Aww thank you so much!
You are very good at learning the true Taiwan history!
Awww we have a great guide !:D
Taiwan looks so fascinating. I would love to spend the some time over there.
I would definitely recommend it. I've been there 11 times in the past 5 years and stayed a year in total. It's a safe and affordable place with lots to do, and lots of history.
I'm a Taiwanese, I'm really touched that you try to understand our complex history which even a lot of Taiwanese don't know so much about at 2:30 of the Vlog. Hope you can come to Taiwan again, there is a lot of good place around whole island waiting for you to enjoy.
I know! We really want to come back:)
Really going deep into the history guys - the mood and songs were so calming really nice - especially the tobacco lady and thhe uprising
We try to go as deep as we can!
Love taiwan! I enjoyed it the last time. I'd like to return again. There's so much more to explore.
Aww we want to visit again!
Wow, u guys really stay here for one month?
Welcome, we love those who explore more and come close to the daily life we live here.
Enjoy your trip here. Welcome, welcome.
Yes we did :) We try to stay long to show a different side of things most people miss
Very good editing really , well done guys 👍🏾👍🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Thank you so much! Tah does an amazing job editing
Love Taiwan!♡♡
The aesthetics of this video give me chills.
Appreciate the in depth video. Glad we have gone this far today and we really cherish our freedom and democracy. 🙃 oh and I really like your shots. Angle great and color quite saturated, nice!
Thank you so much!
I am Taiwanese but I feel like I need to go on the historic walking tour myself. Thanks for sharing!

Commenting at 5-minute mark of the vid. Thank you for that heart-felt history. I love it!
Loved the free walking tours all over Europe and Australia.Best way to get to know a new city and easiest way to find out the chespest bars and restaurants!
Nice job! Love your editing.
Thank you so much!
I went to Taipei last year, and your story in the beginning (first 20 seconds) was the most accurate description of Taipei that I have heard. Great video!
I have to give it to your for your effort on this clip. I have never seen anyone have any interest in Taiwanese history as a routine travel show. Thanks
Aww Thank you so much for watching. We really love it here
Great vlog! Love from Taiwan! :)
I appreciate you put so much information in this one . I'm kind of surprised that tour thing is free.
So were we!
I am visiting Taipei November 2019. Seven nights only.
It is a great video and I like you introduce Taiwan by telling our brief history, as well as great food and boba tea (which reminds me my home!) 228 is a sad history and we really keep that in mind and avoid the same tragedy happened again. Anyway, hope you enjoy the trip. And yes, Typhoon is common to Taiwanese :) Definitely stay inside for your safety.
Thank you for such a great beautiful video sharing what is there to explore in Taipei and our history!
Aww thank you for watching:)
Thank you for your vision of Taiwan .
I really like how you explained the history of Taiwan in the video. It means that you actually care about the real local culture and history, which I rarely see in other RUclipsrs' video. Good content!

In fact, most Taiwanese are the mixture breed of indigenous people and baiya ( 百越,people who used to live in fujian and Guangdong area). In 1786, the Manchurian Chiang officials ordered about 0.76 million so called civilized indigenous people to change their ethnicity records and their surnames. That's about half of the inhabitants population in Taiwan beck then.
welcome to Taiwan and thanks explain Taiwan history. It is important let foreigner to understand.

Just would like to point out that Aiyu (the jelly in the lemon-y drink you had) is made out of a certain kind of fruit seeds. It's totally plant based. It's not gelatin.
Ahhhh its so so good!
Welcome to my home land. Really glad you enjoyed it, . 🙏 Fabulous photo at 2:22 👍👍👍
Typhoons typically make landfall in the Eastern or Southern parts of the island, so normally when they reach Taipei, the intensity would have lessened. They still pour down rains, but without the destructive force
Thanks for the sharing, as a Taiwanese I even don't know the history behind it. what a great and informative video. SUBSCRIBED=)
Thank you so so much!

Nice video.......I really like the Red House and that area......I always go there when I'm in Taiwan.
Its a really beautiful area!
I made it a special point to visit the National 228 Memorial Museum while I was there. I'm glad you enjoy the history and present it because cultures don't instantaneously happen they come from somewhere sometimes dark sometimes light but gives perspective to the here and now and the why it is now.
I love Tah’s clothes and I love your videos ❤️
Aww thank you so much!
If you guys love history, I’m highly recommend you to visit south of Taiwan like Tainan, it was the capital hundred years ago
I've been there many times and I love Kaoshung and Kenting. I'm just waiting for international travel to Taiwan to open. I normally come twice a year for almost 3 months a year. Thank you Taiwanese people for making my trips amazing.
The Red House is in Ximen which is a great area to go
It is a very good area
It’s also know for a haunted house........oops
Officially the martial law was declared on entire China in 1948 at the start of Chinese civil war between the Nationalist Chinese (KMT) and the Communists Chinese (CCP). After the KMT lost China and retreated to Taiwan, the martial law was continually enforced because Taiwan was under state of war against Communist China up through 1980s into the 1990s.
The monument tribute was of the 228 Massacre, which occurred in 1947 (before the declaration of martial law). KMT official Chen-Yi then governor of Taiwan, had planned to defect to the Chinese Communists. From 1945-1947 he froze salaries for all public officials and pilfered public funds given by the Republic of China government that earmarked for post-war reconstruction of Taiwan. This plunged Taiwan into economic chaos and trigger events such as the lady who sold black market tobacco incident that lead to mass protest, and eventually resulted in the 228 massacre in Southern Taiwan. When the KMT retreated to Taiwan in 1949, Chen Yi was caught and was eventually executed for high treason in 1951.
In the 1950s, the Chinese Communists sent thousands of spies attempting to infiltrate and destabilize Taiwan. The ultra-right wing conservative Christian KMT government strictly enforcement of martial law aimed to eradicate all traces of Communism from Taiwan. This resulted in ten of thousands of people executed or jailed for spying or sympathizing with Chinese Communists. There were many collateral damage, ranging from Mainlander ex-KMT politicians / academics who did not agree with the martial law govenment to those who openly supported the Taiwanese independence. This period, lasted through the 1980s was called the "White Terror".
Super informative and interesting insight

The guide did not lead you to the North gate ? The railroad museum and the old Post office building surround the gate are good spots to go if you like history.
Hey, could you guys put like the name of the place in the corner of the screen when you get there? It’s very hard to find where ‘this’ is located. Or put it in the description please!
True democracy and rule of law are the most important value in Taiwan. Many people sacrifice their safety and lives in the past. Our teachers teach us"give me liberty or give me death"since we were little.
Taiwan!
Love it so much!
Amazing editing! Keep it up!
Thank you! Tah spends tons of time to make these the best videos possible for you guys!
Definitely will visit Taiwan again soon.
Yea you should!
You put the history of 228 Uprising well. That very piece of history was not allowed to be discussed in any public places in 30 years ago during the world-record longest martial law period in Taiwan. Chinese, or Chiang Kai-sek, administration wanted to remain power and legitimacy to rule the island by suppressing any Taiwanese symbolic things such as Taiwanese languages, self-identity, history and the uprising event.
The characterization was incorrect. You weren't allowed to speak Taiwanese only in schools. You can still speak Taiwanese at home and everyday communication. In my family everyone spoke Taiwanese during the martial law era. It was fine and no one got in trouble for it.
My cousin rremembers being punished for speaking Taiwanese in school. He was made to wear a sign around his neck that said, "I will not speak Taiwanese".
Such an amazing place my fiance and me want to have vacation there someday thank you for sharing sounds silly but you're kind of living my dream
Aww well you can live it as well! Thanks so much for watching!
nice tour 👍💕
Thats what we thought!
Glad that you’re interested about the local history. Here’s some information, you can visit the office of the president this Saturday (9/21). It‘s only open to visitors once a month from 8:00-16:00. However, I’m not sure whether they have English tour guide.
Oohh my friend and i been there last monday, same spot, try to visit taipei 101 its amazing, over looking, spectacular view i love it😘
And Night market (ximinding night market) theres a lot of good food, specialy boba tea😋 (craving for bake cheesy lobster😋) ooohhhh bono
Aww we really love this city! Taipei 101 is amazing:)
Yeah.. my friend i planning to back taipei, enjoy!! And the local really aproachable and kind..😘
The story of the monument about what the Chinese government did to Taiwanese reminds me of the current status in Hong Kong.
Nice of you to include some historic facts but things are more nuanced and complicated than that. When you say "the Chinese", it's the Nationalist party, not the Communists as we think of today of China. In addition even before "the Chinese" came to the island, most of Taiwan inhabitants were Chinese from China who arrived a couple of hundreds years ago from across the strait. And lastly Taiwan did develop economically during martial law. It was a capitalistic country even then with people earning they own money, studying, investing, starting own businesses, going abroad... so yes dark history but not black & white, good vs. bad. It's complex.
I am really eager to visit Taiwan.. I ❤ you Taiwan

I want to try this walking tour. Im going to Taipei in October. Im so excited, your vlogs are helpful and shares alot of information. Thanm you so much! 😊 I want to ask, coz its my first time, where did you change currency to NTD? Or did you withdra straight from AtM?
You can change your currency at Taipei Airport as long as you are a major currency holder such as US dollars/Euros/AUSD/Japanese Yen/Korean Won. As for ATM, all ATM can withdraw foreign currencies as long as your debit card has "Plus" logo sign and your debit card has already enabled foreign withdraw mode before your trip with your local bank.
Maxwell-Luis Y. Law THANKS! But is the value in airport higher or lower than banks?
@@kristelmagdael11 Actually I don't think it matters that much as you are not exchanging with couple of thousands USD worth of money for a single trip. With hotel booked, you would probably spend less than 2000 NT per day, which is equivalent of 65 US dollars per day for food and transportation, excluding heavy shopping. I would say exchange most of the money in your country first, the rest exchange in Taipei, either in airport or withdraw from ATM. Airport is more convenient as the staffs speak English but other currency exchange places in Taipei are not really easy to find like you do in HK or Japan. All the hassles you spend finding currency exchange shop would probably only save you say 3~5 USD per exchange.
She said "Jimmy it's sooo good" 😉 sorry my mind is wandering 😂
hahahahhahahha
