    My Amputation Story!
    Fourteen years of pain and failed ankle surgeries brought me to 2018, when I made the difficult decision to become a twenty-seven-year-old below-the-knee elective amputee.     I have watched this multiple times just to keep hearing the sound of the liner coming off your leg. Every time I hear it I make this noise of delighted disgust. It’s amazing. Thank you for sharing

    Love that a fellow cycler happened by just in time to see you pop off your liner. That made me hysterical for some reason.
    As a person with Large assets on the front, iykyk, i use body powder spray to keep the sweat at a manageable level on super hot days in Denver.

      The powder could mess with the seal from the liner to keep the prosthetic on unfortunately 😅.

      @@grey6703 just walmart brand body powder spray. Unscented antiperspirant also works wonders in the humidity

    I had the same thing happen to me about 4 years ago. I literally sweated my leg off. When I remember to do it, I use some really strong anti perspirant to prevent it.

    The amount of core control you have, removing your leg and not falling over! 🤯 I have two legs and I can’t raise one without falling over.

    I found the pin socket pulled off more when sweaty versus the compression sleeve. For me it also started to mishape the bottom of my residual limb and stretch it out. Had to change away from it

    Two things, carry a small (2oz) spray bottle of alcohol, spray some on your leg & some inside the liner. Wipe off with your hands & put everything back together.
    Next try Dove Dry spray antiperspirant & spray on your leg in the morning let dry 100% and put in as normal. 20 years as a below the knee amputee both practices really work.😊

    I work at Walmart and I get so hot and sweaty that my liner falls alot!!! I have to fix my leg 2 to 4 times in a shift during the summer.

      There's a video of her, where she talks about the cost of her (then) new prosthetics, liners, footshells ect. But I can't remember the exact title by now 😅

    I wear special sweat socks that I got from my prosthetist under my liner. They work pretty well.

      This might be quite a challenge, since it's basically the airtight fit of the liner that's keeping it on.

      @daanwilmer agreed. I got some promising results using silicone bands you'd find in thigh stockings. I'm trying to determine "grip strength" differences between horizontal vs. Vertical placement. Kind of a pain to measure.

    I have similar liners,they are popular. I think that is one of the few flaws in them. You sweat you come flying out! 😅

    So a pair of liners might help-clip one on the handlebars. When the one you're wearing gets drenched, swap out, put the other one up on the handlebars to air dry.

    Had that problem when working out, I stopped trimming the length of my liners and it's way better.

    Get liner liners. Basically they are absorbent socks that go inside the liner to soak the sweat. You lose a lot of skin contact to the liner, so have less surface area holding it in place, but the thick band you have holding it is less likely to get wet and slippery. I don't know if I would want one for 5 hours of intense activity, since there is a little more friction on the skin at times, but they are nice for a more normal length workout or for a longer time of less intense activity where you may still be swearing just from the heat, but not moving as much.

    Prosthetic legs look so badass. If there wasn't any pain connected to the whole situation it would be perfect I'd imagine. And if it was like screwed to one's remaining leg so it can't come off 😅

    This is why I still feel comfortable with a waist belt as an above knee amputee. The thought of it coming off gives me anxiety.

    I'd try some spray on antiperspirant?
    If it works for chub rub it might stop your leg from falling off

    I feel like this should make me feel more motivated to do stuff, exercising, even just biking here and there. (Because you are freaking awesome amazing and inspiring!)
    But I still can’t be bothered to put the new handlebar grips on my bike 🫣.
    You go get ‘em! Conquer the world- (we’d all be better off for it)- I will loyally cheer you on, loudly, but from a fixed position 😬.

    My father says that the pulling away on the bottom creates a pull on the skin at the top which can lead to soreness and skin irritation but Vaseline around the top helps

    I surf with a guy we call 1 Foot Frank.
    Hes got a leg he wears just for surfing. Its got probably 12 inches or rubbery neoprene cuff to hold it on in the water and when he wipes out.
    It makes a big sound like that when he takes it off.

    Put a sweat band just above your liner. It'll catch the sweat running down your leg before it gets to the liner

    Was giving some antiperspirant that is applied the night before to cut back on that. Have yet to try it, but it's worth looking into. Better then the leg farts. 😅

    I carry a small refillable perfume bottle size of lipstick with rubbing alcohol in it just for those occasions! Wipe squirt squirt and wipe and good to go

    Whenever I'm at gym and working out, I definitely sweat more inside my liner just because the skin can't breath and everything is so tight inside. But AKA here and can't just take it off that easily 😂 wish I was a BK instead

    A now late friend had had his leg removed a little below the hip. His problem with heat was that his prosthetic had hydraulic lines that ran near the leg, and when it got hot, they got really hot.

    I used to hate when that happened actually come to think of it. That's why I stopped using a prostatic leg at all. Now I use my 2 cruchs to get around no hassle No leg coming off after few minutes hot day's freedom
