You are a fabulous artist! You do the most realistic drawn on hair I have ever seen. I kept expecting his hair to get messed up as you worked! Thank you for sharing your techniques!
Have to say i think your drawn hair is about the best, ive watched a lot of videos and you get the crown just perfect, ive seen a lot who leave a hole with nothing on it and it looks so unrealistic, some are too elaborate over the top, i really like your style x
Thank you, your tutorial is very very helpful. You demonstrate your skill very clearly. I feel much more confident about attempting to draw prismatic pencil hair. Thank you again.
Thankyou so much for your helpful tutorial….very easy to understand. Your English is really good! I have ordered my pencils so that I can try this as I find painting hair difficult. Merci beacoup!! 💕
Hi I love your tutorials! Are there a better type of pencil to use for the hair? I have pastels pencils and regular colored pencils and they do not work well at all - what kind of pencils specifically to you recommend
Could you tell me what colors you use. I’m trying to learn to paint and draw hair. I’ve watched your video several times already. If I ever have any problems I always go back and watch your videos 🌹
Hi ! In the part one of this tutorial I show all the material I use. The colors of pencil I prefer are beige, 90%french gray and black. I also use dark umber and dark brown.
Amazing tutorial, thank you so much! I‘ve been doing my first pencil hair painting, but as I was applying varnish, I found it was taking away the colour! How do I avoid this? Do you seal before the painting as well? Or will the pencil stick better if I don‘t seal before the drawing? 🤔 thank you so much for answering my Stupid question 🙈
That's not a stupid question at all. You have to seal before, during and after. Go over gently with as little pressure as you can. If you wait a few days before the final varnish it can help avoid too much removal of the pencil.
I have more control over pencils than paint but for certain artists is the contrary. The advantage of pencils is that it's easier to erase if you make mistakes !
The beauty of ART: sometimes (well, many times) you don't need words to show (teach or explain) something. Thanks!!. For me also English is a second language. I have a question: with prismacolor at the end we do varnish, It is need to be bake? bye I am going to practice now!!
I want to thank you for your tutorials, have been very useful. Also, I will like to ask if the doll need to be sealed with the matte finish before you paint the hair and eyebrows, or you paint the hair and eyebrows and then seal it as a final step. I am not sure about that, please
Thanks! It's better to varnish first for the pencil to grab on the vinyl. If not it may be difficult to draw. If you don't use pencil but just paint hair,, it's not necessary to varnish first. It can be helpful tho if you need to remove the hair painted without affecting too much the paint underneath.

I cure my paint in the oven after each paint layer. My prisma pencils dont hold well, if i use a varnish before the pencils, will i be able to cure in the oven or will it make the varnish chalky.
I don't know with a heat set varnish, but with airdry varnish it should not be a problem. I am not very knowledgeable about heatset paint though. You can ask on the Bountiful Baby's forum, you will get more accurate information.
Hello, that looks great. I wanted to try it. Unfortunately it doesn't work for me. The vinyl didn't take on the color. I try to paint, but you can't see anything.
That is beautiful, I love your accent.

Hello, excellent tutorial, thank you! What colors would you have to apply in each layer if I want blonde hair?
Thanks! It depends on what kind of blond, but I usually use either french gray 90% plus beige on the top, or a light brown than beige.

It's Realborn Michael!
Hi there,
Thank you for sharing your talent. What is the white pencil called that you map with?
Hi ! It's the Prismacolor Premier beige (pC997) but any can work for the mapping. If I do dark hair I use 90% french gray.
Amazing art !! So realistic !!!
Is it obligatory to apply varnish on the dyed hair?
Will it be erased if I do not cover it with varnish?
Thanks! Yes you will need to varnish over the pencil.
You do amazing work! I have to paint some hair on a custom order but I am wondering if I should go with pencils instead
I have more control over pencils than paint but for certain artists is the contrary. The advantage of pencils is that it's easier to erase if you make mistakes !
Precioso 😍

No need to bake pencils, unless you use Genesis varnish. Some artists do bake them tho, but I don't think it change anything.

Bonjour Isabelle! You sound like you are from Montreal or Outaouais. Prismacolor is very expensive! What do you suggest that's affordable?
Hi ! I am from north of Montreal! You can try any brand, but high quality pencils with soft core work the best.
What did you use to map it out in the white
I usually map with beige or french grey pencil

Have you tried to put a very matt varnish first ? The pencil need something that is not smooth to grab on. Pastel pencils work nice too.
