Caro, so much joy and emotion seeing you with your mom in my mother's ancestral land of Puerto Rico! My goal is to do a mother-daughter trip there as well. I love the concept of the "land in our bones" as our family originates from Spain, Ireland, Ecuador and beyond. Born in NY, now i find myself in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia homesteading and feel so connected to my ancestors who lived in the mountains of PR and the homesteads of the other lands. Home is where we make it and find love and connection. Sending you so much love! Thank you
Dear Caro, I believe you when you say you are happy in the Hudson Valley. But seeing you on the beach it really feels like you have come home. So beautiful, so whole❤ Maybe one day you will have your art studio close to the beach😉❤my place of choice would be Albufeira, Portugal. I love the rough winds, the ocean, the city right next to it. I live happily with my family in Biel, Switzerland. We have a forest, a little city, a lake. But we all miss the beach😅we have been living in California for 5 years & my husband is half Seychellois. Honestly, the long grey winters (often not white) get to me since we moved back. But I try to move, run in the forest, do yoga, rest...it all helps. So happy for you you got to do this trip with your mom!

for me resting is for sure easier when i travel (when i'm not in my usual setting - where i see just work to do) and relaxing is for sure easier at the seaside, with sunshine and these ocean-people who are better in "dolce far niente". enjoy your journey with your mum

I want to read The Land in Our Bones! I live downtown now and after 2 years of petitioning the city, was able to get trees planted in our neighborhood. Someone ran one over with their car and I was able to stake it upright again.

Beautiful video Caro, thank you. As a self-employed person I can totally relate to what you were talking about about taking rest without feeling guilty and to be honest, I`m still in a process of learning how to do that. It`s interesting how when I used to work for someone else my rest was everything to me and I had zero guilt, but now when I am my own boss... I don`t know why can`t we rest without guilt but as I said... learning from my own experiences and also from videos like yours. And thank you for mentioning the subject of being a very sensitive person as I just recently discovered these traits in me. I had them from birth of course but now I learned to respect my sensitivity and to realize that there is nothing wrong with me, I am just different. I think sensitivity comes along with guilt we feel. If we would be less sensitive maybe our guilt volume would not be so high ;)
And you know what I remembered now? What most of us read in Eat, Pray, Love: "Dolce far niente". An Italian saying that translates to: "The sweetness of doing nothing." I think I will incorporate this mantra into my life from now on :D

I'm from Israel and I live in Sweden, so I can totally relate to what you were sharing about finding it hard to feel a sense of belonging, and also about finding connection the this land where I live even if it's not where my roots are from.
