All jokes aside, this song has a good message, it's simple, has probably one of the best tunes ever, and is criminally underrated.

This song was written because of gun violence in schools. Particularly an event with Damons daughter's school. It's really sad to still see these things happening all these years later. This song would've really had more of an impact if it came out more recently with the rise in gun violence in schools.

I used to have this song in damaged mp3 file which abruptly ended after 20 seconds. After the first phrase "Kids with guns". I thought that's the whole song. And I thought it's really nice metaphor because the song started lit but ended quickly and abruptly. Like a kid with a gun.

As someone who lives in America, this song really hits hard. Ever since Columbine, school shooting just have been getting worse and worse here in the States. Especially down in the south, and I swear, nobody wants to do anything about it. We don't have to get rid of guns entirely, but we need to change the rules for guns. Its not a free country if INNOCENT lives are being lost.
school shootings have been bad even before Columbine
With 3D printed guns there's nothing people can do, I'm glad to be going to high school next year so I can get this shit down with and not worry about losing my life, hopefully I can get enrolled online. But I still worry about the current and future generations, they still have to risk their life when heading to school which is awful, hopefully something can be done about this but I don't know I don't see it slowing down as mental illness is rising.

I know what the song is about, but I have a loose theory that this song is loosely based on the deaths of Russel's Highschool friends.
1: Guns. It was a shooting. That one is kinda self explanatory.
2: At some points in the song you can hear a roar of a car. The shooting was a drive by shooting.

It's part of the brutalization of a generation that's going on at the moment."
I did that once. A teach let me borrow his pocket knife and I was trying to return it but ended up getting called to the principal's office. Whoops. Lucky for me, nobody cared as much as they do now and I got off with a stern warning.

It was more about the album advocating opinions the listener disagreed with. Say what you want about the world, but one thing that can't be denied is that its people will be mad when someone with a bigger voice than them states an opinion they disagree with
