Exactly. If we only get a few songs a month, then it'll be ages before we get all of the tracks we actually want. I can already think of so many good soundtracks that aren't on there yet.
The sound library is huge, so I would hope they're more frequent than NSO classic games, or at least in bigger chunks. I'd also like it if: soundtracks get released on the same day a game comes out, or even a little bit later (like 1 week).
My only hope is that it is updated more frequently than the NSO apps, otherwise it will take me some time to adapt. I’m not expecting the Super Paper Mario soundtrack to come anytime soon, but within the year would be nice.
YES. Absolutely this, that's the main thing that has me skeptical about this even though I LOVE that they're finally making this after all these years. If they add more than like one soundtrack a month than maybe it could be worth it but given it's nintendo, idk how often they'll add to it
I hope we at least get every new game soundtrack as it releases. Kinda like NSO icons. Maybe we could also get two drops of a few game soundtracks a month.
I hope they're more frequent too considering how enormous the music library is. Maybe I'm asking for too much, but if they wanna get crazy with it, have a sound library too with some sound effects. Why? I don't know, but it'd be neat.
YES. To be honest, every Paper Mario game has astounding music, no matter how good the actual game is. I'm surprised we didn't even get The Origami King at launch.
Look Nintendo is comically anti-consumer but not that comically anti-consumer. Also I that was something they used to do and stopped because it kept pissing people off
We should also be worried about Restoration OST RUclipsrs like Jammin' Sam Miller, Cloou, and Aqua MIDI. They could NOW be in danger by Nintendo's wrath.
I'm just worried the "add to the service over time" will be like how they release like 3 games on NSO a month, and like a year from now we'll only have like 60 soundtracks from the most popular games.
considering the large lineup of "upcoming" OSTs shown in the trailer I'm gonna go out on a limb and assume they'll upload these way faster than NSO games. In fairness getting a classic game running well on their Switch emulation is probably a bit harder than uploading the .wav files of an OST and calling it a day.
I downloaded the app: One of the biggest issues that I'm currently running in with Nintendo Music is that it doesn't have Nintendo's full soundtrack library, which shouldn't be a problem since they're gonna add more music as the days go by, and that's fine. Unfortunately, not all soundtracks like Breath of the Wild have every single song on there, and if its like that for one soundtrack, it'll probably be like that for others. Another problem that I am running into is, "Why?" "Why make their own service?" They should have released it on already pre-existing music streaming devices, so that everyone, not just people have an NSO account, can enjoy it." (And I get it, its probably for... money obviously, but, if you're gonna take the time to release the music on here, you may as well talk to other music streaming services to reach a wider audience). And the third thing, which is a question I think that is running in my mind is, is Nintendo gonna take down all of these songs that are already on RUclips that you can listen to for free? Fair question I think. Edited: It does have all the tracks of BOTW.
So what I'm getting from this comments section is: - No composer credits - Pathetically small selection - Locked behind NSO which probably means incredibly slow updates Yup. It is ABSOLUTELY a smokescreen to justify more brash music takedowns. This isn't an app, it's an alibi.
Yeah, I could kinda see this coming considering how much they've been cracking down on music channels this year. I just hope they don't start taking down videos that use their music in general (They probably will), if they do, a significant portion of RUclips in general will be lost. I saw a streamer earlier today utterly panic when the app was announced due to the implications it has for his VOD channel.
I truly believe Nintendo sees people engaging in fun and goes, "Not unless we say so." They'll stop something they never had an interest in, then replace it with their own thing just to justify it.
The selection of games is pretty thin at the moment, but I'm seeing a few games listed with 100+ tracks. The biggest one at the moment appears to be Animal Crossing: The KK Slider collection for Animal Crossing looks complete, and it has both performance and instrumental variants for the tracks. Add on top of that the hourly tracks and the normal game tracks - there's a list of all of them with a count - 407 tracks in Animal Crossing. The KK Slider lists are worth checking out, there's a big variety of music styles - I think most people will find a few tracks they'll like.
So many people are about to discover the absolute PEAK that is moebius battle theme... As soon as they add xenoblade games to the library nintendo please I'm suffering FEED IT DIRECTLT INTO MY BLOOD STREAM

This is actually crazy. On one hand it would probably be better if they just put everything on Spotify but on the other hand this is a really cool option to have with all the customizations
Think about it like this: The cost to make and maintain this app is probably so much less than a deal with Spotify that they'll probably *make* money off of this, just by letting the music advertise the games
I like the Spotify idea on paper. And I don't know if it's true, but apparently at least the Xenoblade 3 soundtrack is on there. I am beyond hyped for this. I’ve been making RUclips playlists of Nintendo music for YEARS, and replacing the copyrighted music every year lol. Finally a legal (from Nintendo’s pov lol) and stable way to listen to Nintendo music. Now they only need to add all the other games’ soundtracks. The smash soundtrack would be a good start, because it has a bit of everything.
I could see Smash taking a while, and maybe even being incomplete if/when it is added, because of how many different companies they have to get licenses from. For every SNK, there's a Square Enix
My mind was blown like everyone else at this announcement, but my excitement got cut short when I signed in and saw just how limited the current library is. I hate them drip feeding NSO "Virtual Console" games, but in their defense, limiting the availability of those makes it that much more hype when big games are announced since it's APPARENTLY not straightforward trying to play those games by other means. But limiting music when I'm several seconds away from looking up the Wind Waker OST here on RUclips when I WANT to use this new app!?!?!? Completely idiotic
as someone who has done a significant amount of manually looping music, the currently limited selection might actually not just be completely arbitrary-- depending on how they're setting up the loops, getting songs ready for the extension feature could be *_very_* tedious work. if they're looping preexisting mp3s, that involves a lot of very precise trial and error to find perfect loop points, and if they're reconstructing streamable audio from the looping audio files that are actually in the games, even that would probably require a _lot_ of data entry at _least._
@@ThePoltergust5000 I can totally see that, but the amount of songs they started with is so few, they could've added way more with probably only a bit longer of a wait time
only thing about this that i find digusting is the creditting and maybe the dripfeeding of music. and that they apparantly deem themselves to o good to just put their music on youtube or spotify. like why do i need ANOTHER app to listen to music
I LOVE the detail that each individual track has its own unique image associated with the track. Like, they could've just put the box art for each song and called it a day, but they went ahead and added that extra touch. It adds so much personality and individuality.
For one thing, it's about freaking time. For another thing, I gotta give them props for thinking of the one thing that actually makes this useful to me and not a novelty: YOU CAN EXTEND THE SONGS! No more having to stream 30 minute extensions on RUclips for Nintendo music. It's seriously the end of an era, for better or worse.
Great... what will always be a way more limited selection we won't be able to mix with anything else, and they now have every reason to target RUclips uploads even harder. Just fantastic.

this is a genius marketing move, but this will rain hell upon anyone who dares use nintendo music in videos now. and anyone who dares archive nintendo music. and will screw over anyone who doesn't have the money for NSO. or anyone who wants to listen to soundtracks not included in the app, which is most of them. or anyone who wants to listen to nintendo music alongside other not-nintendo music. the lack of credits for the real life humans that made the goddamn music is telling. seeing people so excited for this is disappointing.
Yeah, to meet it still feels that we consumers are on the losing side, and that Nintendo is only reforcing their way of giving the middle finger to the fans. actually they are just joining on the practices of a old and awful industry, the music one. :/
Nintendo not allowing their music to be used in copyright detectors has been a godsend for youtubers, including Arlo. I really hope this doesn’t prelude to a mass erasure of videos that used Nintendo music because they were as good as royalty free…
Who doesnt have $20.00/year for NSO? Get real. The app is awesome and they didnt have to do this. Excuse the f out of Nintendo for protecting their copyrighted material.
The credits are an issue but no different from any other music service, I have apple music and see nothing outside the composer for most OST. Otherwise, it literally does not change a single thing, Nintendo has always enforced their music rights in a number of ways. You think the Nintendo that sues everyone leaves music alone? Giving a legal way to listen to old songs is just Nintendo finally offering what fans have wanted for years.
As somebody who puts game music in RUclips and Deepcut playlists all the time, this can only be bad news. Litigious Nintendo didn't need an excuse to bully music channels and now they got one. I bounce between game music and bands I like constantly, I'm not downloading an app that only lets me listen to the former I'm gonna stay on RUclips.

This seems like a great thing on the surface level. But in the end this is a temporary access on your device for select games only. Unless Nintendo suddenly becomes gracious and kind we are going to lose more then gain. Nintendo will now be able to claim "We are providing access so ALL our music elsewhere is illegal." This is going to give them the power to purge because they might add it later with people defending it because they have access to their game songs. This turns us against each other, giving Nintendo more control with less access to music.
I was surprised to see music from the Wii channels like News, Forecast, and Everybody Votes on there. Already made a short relaxing Wii channels playlist. What random thing will Nintendo do next 😂
2:54 this THIS, this feels just about right, cus like on one hand, I am upset it doesn’t just let us have all the important stuff from the start, absolutely, yes, BUT when ya face facts, that is very simply just a way of looking at it, a possible attitude to take about it. And the other is that the anticipation is fun in itself, so even tho I wished it weren’t the case, if you just look at it from a different angle, that makes it sort of alright.
It would have been so much easier and make so much more sense for them to just add their music to spotify and apple music. It just feels like they're re-inventing the wheel.
I love it.. I suspect the reason they’re releasing it now is because of that investor meeting. Profits probably aren’t as anticipated and I’m guessing the next console isn’t ready to be shown, so they’re releasing little things to increase revenue for the rest of the year (alarm sales and this to drive new nso subscriptions)
This still feels more like a spiteful action than an actual service. Assuming this works like other music streaming services, Nintendo isn’t making that much money from this at all since the subscription fee is still NSO, which the vast majority of users are already paying for. Not only are they gatekeeping the music still, they aren’t even making as much money as they could by just putting the music on RUclips or Spotify. Also making it so that we have to choose between listening to Nintendo music and listening to other music SUUUUUCKS, again most people are just gonna stick to RUclips
The older games audio quality seems to vary a bit and that doesn’t really bode well for me. And I don’t think taking an NSO approach of adding music over time is gonna work for this kinda service

Now I am in a position where Nintendo strikes music videos in my country but also makes this app no available.
😭 thats awful, what country?
My only hope is that it is updated more frequently than the NSO apps, otherwise it will take me some time to adapt.
I’m not expecting the Super Paper Mario soundtrack to come anytime soon, but within the year would be nice.
Having the super paper Mario ost on this would be amazing! I’m hoping that at least the origami king or thousand year door ost is on there at least.
I predict Nintendo will now start DMCA striking old videos that use Nintendo background music.
I hope not. I'm playing through Wonder right now.
There is a reason, Nintendo didn't put their music in RUclipss Content ID system.
don't think so if its only in the background...would be millions of videos they have to take down, makes no sense
@@Jasperr9999They do also add in screenshots of the games for a lot of the tracks, but still not much.
There’s way more than that on the app already
I downloaded the app:
One of the biggest issues that I'm currently running in with Nintendo Music is that it doesn't have Nintendo's full soundtrack library, which shouldn't be a problem since they're gonna add more music as the days go by, and that's fine.
Is it free? Or how much?
Actually the whole soundtrack is there, inside the game there's an option "all tracks" and there's like 200+ tracks in Botw alone 😂

- Pathetically small selection
- Locked behind NSO which probably means incredibly slow updates
Yup.
You think they need an alibi to remove songs from RUclips? You must be kidding.
TBH this is exactly how I expected Nintendo uploading their music to pan out.
You forgot "Even if you pay other music streaming services, you need to swap apps if you want to listen to Nintendo music"
@@LG555 they dont need it, but it certainly helps
I truly believe Nintendo sees people engaging in fun and goes, "Not unless we say so." They'll stop something they never had an interest in, then replace it with their own thing just to justify it.
Sees the Notification: NINTENDO MUSIC? HUH? FINALLY?!?!?!!
Opens the app and there are only like 20 soundtracks: Oh...

Can’t believe they actually did it. This is incredible!
They've announced so much stuff this week. A direct must have been postponed.
Between this and Alarmo, you're definitely right about Nintendo wanting to move into the general lifestyle space.
It would have been so much easier and make so much more sense for them to just add their music to spotify and apple music. It just feels like they're re-inventing the wheel.
Spotify is way more expensive than NSO. And most Nintendo fans already have NSO so it’s essentially free.
I’m honestly so so stoked about this
The older games audio quality seems to vary a bit and that doesn’t really bode well for me. And I don’t think taking an NSO approach of adding music over time is gonna work for this kinda service
