      Eisner was great at the beginning but lost his spark around the late 90s and early 2000s with the parks/attractions getting cheaper and the straight to video sequels being a thing

      I’ve personally have seen it as more of meme than serious. The Eisner era was so wacky, with highs being very high and lows being really low. “Why did the parks do [insert odd thing]?” “Micheal Eisner”. You can’t say the guy lacked creativity and ambition 😂.

    I fully agree with your Fastpass take. There should only be three options Disney should consider:
    1 Make it free again and revert it back to basically a single rider virtual queue but allowing groups so it's no longer seen as a premium service. (And maybe have you go to a location to reserve it because that WAS beneficial)
    2 Raise the price and actually make it a premium service. (Instead of just separating the parks like they're currently doing.)
    3 Get rid of it all together and go back to designing rides to hold people in line for the benefit of the walkways.

    • @tven7on
      @tven7on 10 месяцев назад

      As much as I and many others would love the idea of any of these options coming to fruition, it will unfortunately likely never happen. After doing some math, I found that Disney is now making close to 500 million or more on Disney World alone thanks to this service and its price. They probably won't give that up. And if they decide to increase the price, not enough people will buy it due to its high price, which then results in far less income.

    Yeah Disney needs to take a few hints from Universal and make Lightning Lane a way more exclusive service. Less people would use it, thus making the standby lines move faster. Bonus: no more skipping out on immersive queues that can be integral to the experience.

    • @rrasp1973
      @rrasp1973 10 месяцев назад +4

      Does Universal allow you to ride an unlimited amount of times anytime throughout the day? I would be all for Disney raising the prices if you are able to just jump into any line without having to plan through the app.

    • @adamkell1584
      @adamkell1584 10 месяцев назад +3

      I disagree. Lightning Lane is only really usable in Disneyland and Magic Kingdom. All the other parks just don’t have enough rides. I used it once Epcot and I got two choices before everything was booked up for the entire day. Our last visit to California Adventure we actually ran out of choices midway through the day. At Disneyland and Magic Kingdom I used them heavily and to great advantage.

      There's 2 tiers of universal fast pass. One let's you go on everything once, the other let's you skip lines as many times as you want

      @ethanrichardson2732 9 месяцев назад +1

      I went to universal and Disney about a month ago and the difference with queues was night and day. Universal had you constantly moving, and the only stoppages were for when the ride goes down. Disney was actually AWFUL. The lines were so long solely because of Lightning Lane. All in all, I completely agree. Universal has the method completely nailed down

  • @ThemeParkPassion
    @ThemeParkPassion 10 месяцев назад +28

    2:52, I agree with that. At Universal, Express pass is worth it because you can get everything done. It also benefits stand-by guests because not as many guests use it, lines move so much quicker as you said. Everybody uses Genie, so now it feels like something everybody has. Maybe even include it at some of the mega-deluxe hotels like Contemporary, Grand Floridian, and Animal Kingdom Lodge. Guests could have more flexibility. If they think it is too busy, they can pay a premium price and literally skip every line. With Express Pass, the longest I have ever waited is 15 minutes. Disney needs to implement it.

    • @Mrtfarrugia
      @Mrtfarrugia 10 месяцев назад +1

    • @Crow_Smith
      @Crow_Smith 10 месяцев назад

      @@Mrtfarrugia Sadly there's not much of a slow season for Disney anymore - last 2 times I went post-covid have been an overrun nightmare.
      Which weirdly one of them the lines didn't exist for rides - but that was in October when the 50th celebration had just started so people were more interested in merch I guess?
      But the next time I went it took an hour in line just to pick up my tickets from Will Call [still regret not picking them up the day before] and the place was so crowded my poor partner was constantly overwhelmed and upset. I even sent my dad pictures and he was like "I've never seen that many people at that park in my entire life" - and neither had I. I've gone at least 15 times in my life and they HAD to be over or at capacity - but they had just removed the "you need reservations in the park to go in" policies [or limited them?] so you could just walk up and buy tickets like before covid - it was ... overwhelming to say the least and from what "Inside the Magic" suggests - this is the new norm for WDW

    My biggest concern is the current price hike to even go to Disney world. I mainly went during the mid and late 90's. Tickets were about $80. Now it's 3x or more 😢. I would have to save up more than $1,000 to even have a great experience. The last time I went in 2000 I remember taking a little over $100 and it actually lasted the 2 days I was there. @@danielcurren2119honestly, I would hate a zootopia land in animal kingdom. Aside from teaching about predator-prey relationships, I feel like its entire setting would clash too much with nature and conservation, since the entire setting is a built-up city where animals are essentially humans. It wouldn’t necessarily offer anything to the animal aspect of animal kingdom. A lot of people are of the opinion that AK is in need of rides, but I disagree, since that was never the intent behind the park. A couple of attractions that are tied to the area are ok, but I don’t want animal kingdom to become like Epcot, where innovative and interactive elements are sacrificed for the presence of more Disney IPs.

      Epcot rn is currently the most skippable imho because all the damn "We're making something new" walls make it feel too enclosed and claustrophobic! I get it they wanna cover up the construction and such but there are areas where the walls are where they're not building/destroying anything behind them and I think those should have something interesting to look at or something so the park doesn't feel so crowded at the entrance.

      I agree! I was so nervous about genie+ and truly didn’t understand it no matter how many videos I watched. I tested out genie+ in animal kingdom first which worked out great because it’s more laid back and you don’t have to necessarily rush to a lot of rides. It helped me get the hang of it fast so I was better prepared to plan in busier parks like Magic Kingdom! I thought it was definitely worth it

    7) I totally agree. Eisner had his issues, but he was WAY better than Iger and Chapek. Like you mention, he was passionate about the parks. Iger and Chapek need to be running a bank, not theme parks and movie studios.
    6) After thinking about it, I agree. I remember the days before fast pass and all the queues moved. Fastpass only slowed down queues.
    5) Definitely agree, especially with what the parks make.
    4) Agreed. Space Mountain in the Magic Kingdom needs overhauling. Last time I was there (a while ago) it wasn't as bad as Space Mountain in Disneyland was pre 2003 refurb, but it was bad.
    3) I haven't been in MGM Studios at Disney World for a while, but I definitely liked the back lot tour, and even though many of the animatronics needed work, the Great Movie ride definitely belonged in the park, and was a good attraction. I'd say you are spot on with how they should have added things to that park.
    2) I really like Peter Pan, but I rarely ever do it because of the wait time. It definitely needs an upgrade to increase throughput. If they could double the throughput then I'd probably try to ride it more often, and it would help get the ride more money since they all split the main gate to get their cash.
    1) I loved Animal Kingdom. So many animals to watch, which is what the park is suppose to be about: Animals. Our only problem wasn't anything Disney could control, which was the weather. We got dumped on and it took a while for the park to get back to normal, due to all the water.

    I know people are gonna disagree but I agree with the Genie because A LOT of people buy Genie+ because me and a cousin went to Hollywood Studios and got in line for Tower of Terror, said it was 45min, literally took less than 15 min to get on the ride and that 15 min was PLUS the ride time and the best part was… THE GENIE+ LINE WAS LONGER!! And we waited in STAND-BY! It kinda just depends when you get in line and if you get in line during one of those Genie+ waves.

    Animal Kingdom is honestly the best park. When I was younger, I got captured in the magic of the other parks, but once I got older the fantasy and sci fi stuff seemed faded and fake to me, probably because they ARE, and I just started maturing enough to see it. But animals never lose their magic. They're literally the best and most interesting thing we have on this planet, and it's so chill to see them not only in a naturalistic environment, but also an environment that immerses us as guests in the cultures and places we're meant to be exploring. No other park has theming or landscaping as detailed and beautiful as Animal Kingdom's. And yeah, some areas do leave a bit to desire, like you said with the dinoland area. But I would also go further to say that Avatar land is a complete waste and also isn't even that immersive in itself. Avatar land should have been put in Magic Kingdom's fantasyland (or heck, even just put flights of passage and scrap the rest of it). Pandora has its beautiful areas, but it doesn't feel like it belongs in a park called "Animal Kingdom", although the same could be said for the yeti AND the giant dragon head mounted on the entrance

    Re: ride maintenance. I would 100% rather have NO NEW ATTRACTIONS for 5 years if it meant all of the existing attractions (ALL OF THEM) got a proper maintenance check. Not like a couple weeks here or there for touch ups and making sure it "works". Take a ride, shut it down for 3 months, fix it top to bottom, then move to the next. Or however long it takes. I'd rather have everything in the whole park operating at close to max functionality than to have a new attraction and the rest is at 60%

    Hollywood Studios is my favorite park and it is where I discovered that I would love to be an actress and work in the theater or in movies. All of that feeling is gone except in the little area next to Muppet Vision where Newsies was filmed. I hate what’s happened to my favorite park and I’m glad most agree.

    We definitely gonna need a part 2 for this! Lol one of the most common hot takes about the Disney Parks: “The Disney Parks rely on IPs. “IPs are ruining Disney Parks”.
    IPs in my opinion helps the Disney Parks. I mean whats the point of having all these movies, characters, and franchises and not display them in the parks?

    My Disney hot take: I feel like I could’ve come up with a better plot for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure than what’s been released by Disney.
    Here’s my pitch for a ride story:
    Tiana and Naveen learn about other people who’ve been cursed by Dr. Facilier in the past. They now live in the bayou as outcasts. They learn a way to break the curses from Mama Odie, and they venture through the bayou with help from Louis to find them and break their curses.
    What do you all think.

I went to Disney Land last year and went on that ride for the first time since I’ve never been interested before, we waited an hour, and to me it was so boring! Peter Pans Flight is overrated! This is just my own opinion! ❤

    Phantom Manor pre refurb was the MUCH better attraction. Melanie was the lead, she had the tragic story with her beau, and it was more melancholy. This new update from a few years ago put Le Phantom as a co lead and tried to merge her with Connie. And while I appreciate the TLC, we didn't really get too much new! The Melanie greeting animatronic got moved to the entry way and Leota STILL does not float! Plus they merged the old PM sweeping, full loop track with something that's a merge with HM's music loop. It loses all of it's tragic, Romantic, Gothic (old school literary version of the terms) in this update to try to make something that appeals to wider HM fans... but it''s uniqueness is what made the ride special. We didn't even get a full Vincent Price back, but that one at least is understandable.

    I fully agree with the genie plus take. It would make everything so much better, and maybe it wouldn't be so hard to get on rides if you DO decide to purchase it. Last time I got it, we only used it to get on like 4 rides because every reservation got taken so fast. Not worth it for a "premium service"

    I’m glad others feel the same way about Peter Pan. When we went to DisneyWorld the wait everyday was about 2 hours (note we went to Disney for 2 weeks) so we never rode it. Finally on our last day at Magic Kingdom, the wait got down to 20 mins and we were so excited to try it because we assumed the ride must be amazing to rack up wait times over 2 hrs. Just to be thrown into a slow moving dark ride of the films plotline from a somewhat creative ride vehicle. It was a major let down and boring. Maybe more magical for younger kids or bigger Peter Pan fans, but we were so happy we waited until the wait time got to under half an hour ! lol

    I agree with your takes on these takes TPM. Everything you've said are pretty much what I've thought as well about these topics. I must add, if Genie were to be upped to the price level of similar line skip programs, such as Express, they should also not limit guests to only one ride every two hours. As far as I know with Express, it's an all day, all rides that accept it at least once. I haven't used it so I'm not sure if it's as many times as you want on rides or just once per ride per day. I can totally see if you've seen the queues and gone many times how Express is a valid means of getting your trip done without the waits and not losing any of the experience. I also fully agree that MMRR should've gone in the Animation Courtyard area and Great Movie Ride should've been updated with new films instead of just scrapped. I also love Animal Kingdom and would also rather go there than MK anyday, but especially over DHS at this point. Great video!
