Hey Ross i've got my a2 coming up in January and I'm torn between bikes but i'll be on a tight budget, I'm liking the look of an older 400 inline sport bikes as I don't want to risk an SRAD so e.g. cbr400rr or zxr400 or an older curvy sv650s. I had a 2 stroke DT125X as my cbt bike so the powerband of the 2 stroke was similar to how a inline 4 performs and that was amazing but the torque and touring/2 up capabilities of the sv650 also are appealing to me. You've got both engine types so just want some opinions/advice from you as I will only have one bike.
In my opinion Id go for an SV650 as your first A2 bike. They are extremely easy to ride and aren't too quick either (especially compared with the SRAD). The issue with inline 4s is that they need to be revved upto their max to get enjoyment/ actual power from it. I did used to have a CB400 which was awesome but for commuting, touring and usable power Id take the SV!
Getting my rs4 50 and doing my licence next week! AM
Sweet, goodluck!
