Good first reaction(s) and welcome to the BABYMETAL Foxhole.🦊You don't need to understand Japanese to enjoy the music - as the lead singer Su-metal once said "Don't think. Feel." They can make you feel the emotions of what they are singing without understanding a word of what they are saying - the choreography also helps with translations for those of us who speak no Japanese.
    Now I've said that -
'PA PA YA' is about mixing the right thing into life makes it better, just as you would mix the right spices with a spicy green Thai papaya fruit salad to make that taste better. It is a summer festival song. F Hero is a rapper from Thailand and he was rapping in Thai.
'Gimme Chocolate' is about them wanting some chocolate, but they're a bit worried about their weight - but chocolate, it would be so nice and they would be so happy, so they will eat just a piece of chocolate.
'BxMxC' probably means BABYMETAL Cypher (like a rap battle I think).
'Megitsune' is a female empowerment song. When Su-metal pulled the short blade out of her microphone she quoted a Japanese gangster movie and the daughter of a gang boss - she said "Maidens ... should not be underestimated!"
BABYMETAL formed in 2010 when the Lead singer Su-metal was 12, the other two girls Yuimetal and Moametal were both 11.
'Megitsune' was early 2013, Su was 15, Yui and Moa were 13 (both nearly 14). 'Gimme Chocolate was filmed in December 2013, the day after Su-metal's 16th birthday. 'PA PA YA' and 'BxMxC' are from the 2019 album.
Yui last performed in October 2017, she missed the big shows at the end of 2017 and all of the 2018 tour because of poor health and she left the band in October 2018 as she was still not fully recovered and could not perform.
Su and Moa chose to continue as a duo through to and just beyond their 10th anniversary. From 2019 they were supported by 3 dancers who would take turns dancing in the third spot (you saw Kano, one of those dancers, in the 'Pa Pa Ya' video - that was her first show).
In April 2023 the last remaining dancer of the three was revealed as the official new third member - she is Momoko now known as Momometal.
BABYMETAL are unique, there is nobody else quite like them. They have fused Metal with JPop hooks, melodies and aesthetics - including bringing choreographed dance to metal. They will also mix so many more musical styles and genres with the metal.
Nearly 70 songs now, each one different to the last - they never get boring.
The official videos are all very good, but you will see and hear them at their best in live performances.
You already have some good suggestions for more songs from @rah2287 in the comments below.

Well, you’ve opened a can of worms!
BABYMETAL has an extensive history (and lore) which I won’t get into but a quick synopsis: they’ve been around for a bit over thirteen years now (they started when their lead singer - known as Su-metal (Suzuka Nakamoto) - was about twelve, and the two "cheerleaders" (officially "scream and dance" (backing vocals)) - Moametal (Moa Kikuchi) and Yuimetal (Yui Mizuno) - were both around eleven. Unfortunately, Yui left the band in 2018 because of health concerns, and early in 2023 Momometal (Momoko Okazaki) was named a member of the group. They do not play instruments but are backed by the Kami Band - session musicians who are among the best that Japan (and the U.S.) has to offer.
BABYMETAL started a brand new genre of music ("kawaii metal" - cute metal), and they cannot be pigeon-holed - they are almost always thinking and moving outside box; they made listening to metal FUN! They have, to date, four studio albums, and have been on a number of world tours. It is common knowledge among their devoted fans (known as "The One") that BABYMETAL is best served live, but they do have several music videos that are real works of art. I suggest you go back to the beginning, and react to their first two music videos, "Doki Doki Morning" and "Iine!" (pronounced "E-nay"), both released in 2012. You’ll notice those are the first two on this list of these recommended songs (along with suggested versions):
Doki Doki Morning (official music video)
    Iine! (official MV)
Gimme Chocolate!! (official MV or Legend 1997 Apocalypse version)
    Megitsune (official MV)
BABYMETAL Death (Legend 1997 Apocalypse version) [for those who are religiously sensitive, see the Budokan Black Night 2014 version]
Onedari Daisakusen (Legend 1997 Apocalypse version)
Song 4 No Uta (Budokan Black Night 2014 version)
Uki Uki * Midnight (Budokan Black Night 2014 version)
Catch Me If You Can (Budokan Black Night 2014 version)
Ijime, Dame, Zettai (Live at Sonisphere 2014 version)
    Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!! (Legend 1997 Apocalypse version)
Road of Resistance (Legend 2015 New Year Fox Festival version)
    Karate (official MV)
Meta Taro (Five Fox Festival version)
    GJ! (Fox Festival 2017 version)
Sis Anger (Fox Festival 2017 version)
    Shanti Shanti Shanti (official MV)
    Pa Pa Ya!! (official MV)
    BxMxC (official MV)
    Metalizm (official MV)
    Metali!! (official MV)
I would include the links but, for some reason, RUclips sometimes thinks I'm posting spam and will delete my comment. For the links, see the RUclips playlist “BABYMETAL Top Twenty”; it is a mix of MV’s and live performances, is more or less in historical sequence, and could be considered a road map down the BABYMETAL foxhole. If nothing else, it can be used as a reference to find high quality versions of BABYMETAL songs without mucking about - if they are on the list. Anyway . . . .
Another recommendation (read "challenge"): react to an entire BABYMETAL concert. I suggest "Legend 1997 Apocalypse" and/or "Budokan Black Night" (2014). There are playlists for both on the HEAD123456 RUclips channel. Both concerts are, in a word, incredible.
Lastly, with rare exception, BABYMETAL always sing in Japanese. If lyrics are important to you, I recommend that you look up the lyrics to any song you are about to react to. Just sayin'.
Enjoy your trip down the foxhole! (You're in for a wild ride!!!)
Keep rockin' BABYMETAL!!! (Sorry about the wall!)
    KITSUNE UP!!! 🤘🦊🤘

The concert of the Gimme Chocolate song was held for the sixteenth birthday of the singer (the other two girls were fourteen). These are video performances with the official audio tracks over them. In the Megitsune video they were even younger, but generally it isn't so important to understand the lyrics.

Welcome to the Foxhole and BabyMetal's journey 🦊🤘🔥
Great selection of songs to start your journey. Be careful to not burnout with so many songs in a row, try it with just one song per reaction, it's also better to prevent copyright blocked.
Anyway see you next time 🦊🤘❤

Nice reaction. Welcome to the foxhole. This is Babymetal short version. Jpop vocals over metal music base. With just about everything in the middle. They do choreography to every song the perform. They have been active since 2010. Put out their first album in 2014. They mostly sing in Japanese. But as you heard they do mix English in to the lyrics.
PaPaYa is about spicy papaya salad. Ok it's about more than that. Living life and experience you best life. Over the years they have become know for their strong positive uplift lyrics.
Give me chocolate is the first big hit from their first album and made them internationally known. Fun bit about it the sounds Moa and Yui make at the start of the song are what kids in Japan make for gun sounds. They're not asking for chocolate. They're demanding it. Lol in a kid friendly Kawaii kind of way of course.
Which brings us to Kawaii Metal which started with Babymetal. Kawaii means cute and is a whole vib in Japan. More adorable to me.
BMC Su-metal the lead singer this is her first time trying to rap. Nailed it. Song is mostly kind of a dis track for all those metal gatekeepers out there who didn't like 3 Japanese girls doing metal in a Kawaii way.
Megitsune is everything that Babymetal is about. Done at almost every show.
That was a great start down the foxhole and into the Babymetal galaxy of music

Quick little intro the original 3 members where Su-metal lead vocalist and oldest member Yui-metal scream and dance(backing vocals) and Moametal scream and dance(backing vocals). They started off as a subunit of the girl group Sakura gakuin.
Gimmie chocolate and megitsune featured the original three. They started when their first song doki doki mornywas recorded when su was 12 and Yui and Moa were 11.
The original trio have 2 albums together Babymetal and Metal resistance. In 2017 before the legend s baptism xx concert to celebrate Su’s 20th birthday they announced Yui had begun her health hiatus.
In 2018 the went on their first tour as a duo since Yui was on hiatus they restructured their formation to have them both in center with two dances on the sides in October Yui left the group and they returned to trio formation with 5 dancers in her spot. One of the dancers fished the world tour with them and had a mic but didn’t sing. Fans constantly harassed her for not being Yui.
In 2019 they held two concerts which were supposed to be legend y to celebrate Yui’s 20th birthday. They then introduced 3 dancers called the avengers to alternate in Yui’s spot.
Riho sayashi was the first avenger and is a Jpop icon. She was a 9th generation member of the girl group morning Musume which is one of the bestselling girl groups of all time. She didn’t finish the 2019 tour since halfway through she went back to Japan to negotiate a solo contract with Japan music entertainment.
Second one is Kano fujihira the youngest avenger born in 2004. She is in the papaya music video you watched. She only did shows in Japan and is now in a group called @onefive.
The last avenger was momoko Okazaki she was the only avenger to complete the world tour and the only one to appear after 2020. On April 1st 2023 they gave the announcement everyone was expecting that Momoko was now a member of babymetal with the stage name Momometal scream and dance(backing vocals). Momo is only featured on one song Metali which she does the spoken rap part in the song.
On march 2 and 3 2024 they celebrated momo’s 21 birthday at the Yokohama arena. Momo took over singing the second half of headbanger and sang the intro to meta taro by herself.
Moa also sang the lead to head banger at legend m in 2019 to celebrate her 20th birthday.
Momo is the only member to have an actual member color which is pink
After legend mm they did an interview which had the members names in different colors su was red Moa was blue and momo was pink so su and Moa may now have member colors.

A basic idea of what the songs mean I'm sure there's more context that could be added.
PAPAYA - boys and girls having fun in the summer, with food
Gimmie Chocolate - Wanting Chocolate but worried about weight
BxMxC - it’s a throw down for rap battle
Megitsune - Women hiding their real selves behind the image of being traditional Japanese women

A good channel to get videos with subtitles added is "For The Fox God" channel.
The girls were 11/12 years old when they started. Out of the 4 videos "Megitsune" was the earliest released (I think) in 2011 (I see Grington said 2013 and I trust his knowledge better than mine) 😉and is still the top ranked fan favorite.
Next is "Gimme Chocolate" released in 2014. The video was recorded at lead singer Su-metal's 16th birthday concert in January 2013. Moa and Yui were 14 at the time.
"BxMxC" was released in 2019 and it was the duo of Su-metal and Moametal as Yui left the group in 2018.
"Pa Pa Ya!" Was also released I believe in 2019 and in this video, you see Kano Fujihara dancing in the third spot.
Finally, a Babymetal show is not a spectator sport. It is very much a participatory event as the audience will often have chants and choreography to perform along with the girls (this is why we are called The ONE. At BM shows we are all ONE with Babymetal).

BabyMetal began in 2010 there were Suzuka Nakamoto age 12 Moa Kikuchi and Yui Mizuno. Both Moa and Yui were 11 years old. All three girls were friends and classmates who attended an idol group (Sakura Gakuin) founded in 2010 by Amuse Talent Agency for girls 10 to 15. Themed around school life (they attended regular school as well) the girls would learn and train at vocals, dancing, public speaking and etiquette, etc., graduate at age 15 and then move onto whatever entertainment path they chose or that suited their talents.
Key Kobayashi was a music producer for Amuse and heard Suzuka sing at age 9 and was impressed with her strong vocals and stage presence. Kobayashi was a fan of heavy metal but believed that the genre had become stale and tired (especially in Japan) with metal bands getting old Kobayashi believed the genre needed to be reborn (BabyMetal means the birth of a new metal genre). Kobayashi felt that Suzuka had the ability to front a metal band and that her vocals and presence could withstand the metal guitars and drums. The fusion of Jpop and Metal began. He placed Moa and Yui as backup singers/dancers and a phenomenon was about to result.
In the beginning Amuse showed little interest and the girls had minimal financing. They performed at strip malls and small venues borrowing clothes for shows from friends and family. No money for a real band they had friends dressed in homemade skeleton costumes pretending to play instruments to a backtrack.
They quickly became a sensation (these young ladies paid their dues).
Amuse saw the potential and in 2012 hired the best session musicians Japan had to offer (The Kami Band) who tours with them today (now includes world class musicians from the USA for tours outside of Asia).
If you choose to explore more of BabyMetal I suggest reacting to HQ pro shot videos of LIVE performances instead of official MV's (the reason is that the vast majority of MV's use studio audio over LIVE footage AND without the awesome Kami Band instrumentals)
They have over 60 LIVE songs/performances and each one is different. They are fearless exploring many genres and have the respect of the legends of Metal such as Metallica, Slipknot, Rob Zombie, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Judas Priest and more.
Avoid Glastonbury LIVE performances as the sound production by the BBC (who was in charge of that festival did a terrible job - mics not turned on, incorrect volume levels, etc.)
Yui Mizuno left BabyMetal in 2018 due to health reasons and at their concert in Yokohama on April 1 it was announced that a permanent third member Momoko Okazaki (who is also a graduate of Sakura Gakuin and has been appearing with them LIVE since 2019 after Yui's departure) has officially become the third member.
Their new album in my opinion that released March 24 is amazing with so many different styles.
Good luck and hope to see you again.

First off I was really enjoying your reaction. Fun energy with good comments. Jumping in at the deep end of the pool with four songs on a first reaction. Basically a good solid job. Frustratingly I couldn't finish your reaction. I just find it so jarring when numerous cuts are made to the songs. That's for copyright I guess. Anyways I'm glad you seemed to be enjoying Babymetal. They are phenomenal. Best wishes.

I suggest you should check their live versions instead. Non of these are live, two of them used live concert footage as music video but studio audio.
And BxMxC live is on whole another level, Suzuka Nakamoto aka SU-METAL - the lead singer, always better live than studio.

"Pa-Pa-Ya" is all about summer festivals. One word that is repeatedly used in the song is "matsuri," which means "festival." The papaya fruit is a staple of summer festivals, hence the name of the song. "Gimme Chocolate" is all about the struggle of women being expected to watch their weight and stay thin while craving fun foods like chocolate. It's about personal impulses versus societal expectations. BxMxC is a rap battle that is represented like a video game boss battle in the music video. The phrase "tekina metaru saifa" is repeated: "tekina" means "enemy" or "opponent" in this context, "metaru" means "metal," and "saifa" (or "cipher" in English) is kind of freestyle rap that passes the rap between multiple people; so they are literally saying this is a heavy metal rap battle with Su-metal and Moametal teaming up against the boss. The last song "Megitsune" is about the social struggles of being a young woman having to hide their tears and insecurities behind smiles, which results in some people thinking women are being deceptive when they're just trying to be strong and make everyone happy. The words "kitsune" and "megitsune" are repeated several times. A kitsune is a fox, and is also a fox spirit that is an important part of Japanese mythology. The kitsune (the "Fox God") figures heavily into BABYMETAL's own lore, including the hand sign they use in concerts, which is a variation on the traditional "metal horns," but theirs looks like a fox head. A "megitsune" is a female fox. They are likening themselves to foxes, due to foxes being viewed as tricksters. The four videos you chose represent two different eras of BABYMETAL. "Megitsune" and "Gimme Chocolate" feature the original three members Su-metal (Suzuka Nakamoto), Moametal (Moa Kikuchi) and Yui-metal (Yui Mizuno). Su was 15, and Moa and Yui were 13 in the Megitsune video (it was released the day before Yui's 14th birthday, and two weeks before Moa's). They were 16 and 14 respectively in the "Gimme Chocolate" video (it was filmed during Su's 16th birthday concert). Yui left the group in 2018, and Su and Moa continued officially as a duo, joined live by a trio of rotating backup dancers called the Avengers on stage, but their non-live music video releases during this time featured only the two, as seen in the BxMxC video, which came out in 2020, which Su was 22 (she would turn 23 a couple months later) and Moa was 21. The Pa-Pa-Ya video shows live clips that feature one of the Avengers, Kano-metal (Kano Fujihara), who is also a member of the J-pop idol group @onefive. Su is 22, and Moa is just a few days shy of her 20th birthday in the Pa-Pa-Ya video. So of the four videos, they are youngest in the Megitsune video, and oldest in the BxMxC video. In 2023, they became an official trio again, with former Avenger Momo-metal (Momoko Okazaki) being elevated to full member status in Yui's place.

You're more likely to get subtitles if you avoid MVs or "official" videos - or look for one with subs if you really need them. It's not easy to read them always and pay ful attention to the performance maybe - but there's plenty out there. BMC is amazing live btw. Only Megitsune had any real meaning - and if you look you'll easily find a live performance with subtitles. Great reaction anyway :)

With Babymetal, it is best to react to their concert performances. They are better live than their recorded tracks. The music videos are fun, but they don't top the live performance with their vocals. You will understand once you see it. Welcome to the foxhole. (Foxhole is another way to say rabbit hole but it is said only by Babymetal fans. We say fox because Babymetal has a story behind it and the Fox Gods brought them together. They talk about foxes in Megitsune which is a combination of the words maiden and fox in Japanese. A fox maiden.) Also, the lead singer Su-Metal (Suzuka Nakamoto) is 26, Moa-Metal (Moa Kikuchi) is 24, and Yui-Metal (Yui Mizuno) is 24 as well. Yui is in the Gimme Chocolate and Megitsune music videos, but she left the band in 2018 for health reasons. Babymetal had officially got a third member in 2023 named Momo-Metal (Momoko Okazaki). At the time of this comment, she is 20 but will be turning 21 on March 3rd. There is a lot of backstory with this group so I will leave it at that.

    Welcome to the Foxhole! 🤘🦊🤘
Most of the truly important information has been or will be given in other comments, so I like to give the fun titles and nicknames given by The ONE (Babymetal’s Fan-base) as well as other (un)important information.
BABYMETAL started in 2010 as an experimental sub-unit of the larger JPop/JRock group Sakura Gakuin (Cherry Blossom Academy)
    Babymetal is:
Suzuka Nakamoto\Su-Metal (Vocals and Dance): Angel of Song, Queen Su, Queen of Kawaii, Metal Queen, and Metal Goddess.
Before Sakura Gakuin, she performed in a stage production of "The Adventurers" and was a member of the JPop trio, Karen Girls.
Fun Fact: Bullfrogs are her Kryptonite
Yui Mizuno\Yuimetal (Scream and Dance) left the group in 2018 due to India closed health issues: Angel of Dance, Princess Yui, Yui-bot, Tomato Princess, Tomato-Kun, Kawaii Princess and Devourer of Souls (or at least she stares into your soul). Yui had a minor role as a child actor in a Japanese TV Drama before joining Sakura Gakuin. She has cute, chubby cheeks.
Fun Fact: Yui is tickled by Bullfrogs.
** WARNING ** Do NOT, ever, under any circumstances call her “small”, "smol", “short” or “tiny” (same rule applies to Moametal).
Moa Kikuchi\Moametal (Scream and Dance): Angel of Love\Smile, Queen of Hearts, Princess Moa, Kawaii Princess, Super Moa-chan, Maiden of Mischief, and Headmistress of Hedabon. She has huge dimples and a smile that melts the hardest of hearts.
Fun Fact: Loves to troll Su-metal on-stage with little pranks as well as torment Su-metal with Bullfrogs.
Momoko Okazaki\Momometal (Scream and Dance): Angel of Joy, Kawaii Princess, Princess Peach, Vampire Slayer, Kabuki Queen. Also a Sakura Gakuin graduate. Was a contestant on the Korean reality survival program "Girls Planet 999" (which thankfully for The ONE, she was eliminated from early on) and performed in a stage musical production of "Black Butler". Momoko was the only “Avenger” (see below) to perform in the “10 BABYMETAL Budokan” shows in 2021 and was officially named Momometal and made a permanent member in April 2023. She deserves the spot!
Fun Fact: Momoko's father is a popular comedian in Japan known for making dead-pan jokes. Momoko worked very hard to make her way without using his name as a crutch.
BLACK BABYMETAL: Yuimetal and Moametal performing as a duet while Su-metal takes a breather. Also known as “MoiMoi”. There are 4 BBM songs (GJ!, Onedari Daiskusen, 4 No Uta\Song 4, and Sis. Anger) some of which Moametal performed solo a few times after Yui's departure. Now that Momometal is a member, we are hoping for more BBM songs with MoMoa! But only the Fox God knows.
AVENGERS: 3 Dancers who took turns performing the choreography in Yuimetal’s spot after her departure. They were not official members did not have microphones and were not even named. It was the fans who quickly figured out who they were and you will see them in live performances between 2018 and 2021.
    They were:
    Momoko Okazaki (see above).
Riho Sayashi: Suzuka’s former rival at Actors School Hiroshima, often competing for the same roles. Former “Ultimate Ace” of the JPop Idol group Morning Musume. Now a solo artist.
Kano Fujihara: Former Member of Sakura Gakuin, the school-aged Idol group that BABYMETAL was born out of. Like Suzuka and Moa before her, Kano was Student Council President her last year in Sakura Gakuin and like Yui, was considered arguably the best dancer in SG during her time there. She is now a member of the Idol group @onefive, which is comprised of 4 Sakura Gakuin graduates (Kano, Momo, Soyo and Gumi). Kano only performed with BABYMETAL in Japan as she could not travel, likely due to her commitments to Sakura Gakuin and the then developing @onefive.
    We are #notacult.

Papaya the fruit the song is basically about fruit salad (paraphrasing here), Gimme Chocolate is about the struggle girls go through with body image but just want some chocolate, only Babymetal can make songs about food sound like the coolest thing you have heard, most of their songs are about positive messages especially for girls, and just an FYI the Name Babymetal has nothing to do with the age of the girls, they are called Babymetal because it is a genre (Jpop, Rap, Dance, back up with Metal music and choreo) of music they created

Even if you understood Korean you still might not understand the lyrics because Babymetal is Japanese. If you want subtitles you need to set the translation in CC to Japanese > English because it seems yours is set wrong.
