    Thought for sure I needed a whole new valve, $$$.! Took mine apart and saw my nylon washer is toast. Put a new one on and I'm good to go for cheap. Thank you. Also, when I tried compressing my valve to reinsert the pin there was no way I could do it with my foot, and tap the pin in without killing myself. I was worried I'd never get it back in. Then I found that if I reassembled the valve top to the base first the spring was already compressed most of the way, and getting the pin in was pretty easy. Caution once reassembled tap the pin in gently.

    Great video, very helpful! I did notice that the plastic spacer o--ring washer was on top of the spring when you took it apart, but then you put in on the bottom (under the spring) when you reassembled. I guess it does not make any difference, but i will put it back the way it came off. I also replaced the other O-rings with new ones as my multiport is almost 13 years old, --especially the big top one that goes under the lid that seemed to be leaking. Again, very helpful to me on the little details.....

    Hi Mark, I noticed at 2:44 the spring washer is on top of the spring. When you reassembled, at 4:55, you put the spacer under the spring. Which is correct? Thanks.

    • @Marksreviewsandtutorials
      @Marksreviewsandtutorials  4 года назад

      Yeah it doesn’t matter greatly. I normally put it on the bottom as it allows the spring to move on the base. You do need the spacer to give the right spring tension and also so the spring can move. MRT

      Hi Chris. If you are talking about the bolts around the valve. There is an oring that goes there so pull the valve apart again and check and clean the oring. Just a small bit of grit or stick can cause it to leak. Or of course if you forget the oring. MRT

    Thank you Mark 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟All I needed to do was replace the nylon washer on my port. Found it at PoolZoom for $2.90. Your tutorial was GREAT! My experience was different in that I had to jump on the unit like it was a pogo stick to get the spring to loosen up and squish down all the way so I could get the pin back in 😅Another thing, I had already opened my pool so water was flowing out of the filter until I put it back together. 💦💦💦It wasn’t a problem, though. The replacement went quickly.

    Thanks for the video Mark, very insightful, I was able to rebuild my valve and replace the rubber parts per your excellent instructions. I attempted to compress the spring and drive the pin by brute force, but ended up putting fender washers on 4 of the bolt holes and running long screws through them and into a thick wood plank pulling each screw down a little at a time. Once the spring was compressed and the valve head secured to the wood, I lined up the pin and drove it in. With any luck, I won’t be doing one of these again for a long long time. Thanks again

      I know that you replaced the nylon washer right under the handle. When you pulled the housing off to expose the o rings, it looks like a nylon washer was on top of the spring. When you reassembled it You put the nylon washer under the spring and not back on top which would let the metal spring rub on the plastic top.

    • @Marksreviewsandtutorials
      @Marksreviewsandtutorials  5 лет назад

      Ralph Gardner Hi Ralph. Normally there are both metal and a nylon washer that go with the spring. It doesn’t matter if the nylon is to the top or bottom as it is under tension. The spring does need a washer both ends though. Then the larger nylon washer needs to go under the handle

I want to make certain that it turns out all of the way for removal or do I need to remove the multiport and replace O Ring from the inside?

    • @Marksreviewsandtutorials
      @Marksreviewsandtutorials  6 лет назад

      Jean Rodino Hi Jean. Most airbleed valves screw all the way out and some don’t. Normally those that don’t are split at the end so you can pinch that with some pointy nose pliers to get it out.

    • @Marksreviewsandtutorials
      @Marksreviewsandtutorials  6 лет назад +1

      Wild Weasel It may be possible at a pinch but I would not do that. If the handle is broken then most likely the valve is very tight and if you don’t clean and lube the valve then other parts will wear and break as well.

    • @fasousa4798
      @fasousa4798 6 лет назад

      Thanks for the prompt reply Mark. The handle is not smooth to operate. It drags a bit and one of the 2 arms is broken. So you think i should just remove the top? I would have to drain the water though? I think it needs to be turned to winter mode to drain

    • @Marksreviewsandtutorials
      @Marksreviewsandtutorials  6 лет назад

      Wild Weasel If the filter is below water level then hopefully there will be some isolation valves to stop the water flow.
      If not then shove rags into the return pipes to block them and also remove the skimmer basket and jamb a rag in that pipe as well. That should reduce the flow to a few drops or a trickle then you can remove the filter valave head and service it. What country are you in?
