Agreed. Also 10ly is a decent distance for what is likely a universe full of civilian ships. I doubt the general population is piloting mad specs like the CMDRs do. I hope the bubble starts stretching a bit "north" towards Colonia and "east" towards many of the old guardian areas. It would be pretty cool having guardian sites within the new bigger bubble.
Literally couldn't disagree more. That pitiful range is a deal-breaker, for most players. People want a daisy chained to a desired system. And they're asking for a whopping _4 weeks_ (potentially) wait period between those systems acquired? No chance that survives the beta. 100lys is a more agreeable range
@@Windrake101 it's not even possible to get 100ly in a single jump afaik. I also couldn't disagree more 😅. 4 weeks is the time limit so you can't just snag a system and sit on it. I'd love a significantly more expensive option that's location-independent, allowing remote systems players have discovered while exploring to be set up as little islands of civilization in a similar vein to the DSSA. Or at the very least the ability to construct and operate personal bases on planet surfaces without the need for the whole colonization system. A customizable home base that can be gradually upgraded and expanded is something I'm sure a lot of players would be into.
I'm a little interested to see if anyone is going to try to organize a daisy chain of colonized systems all the way out to HD 76133 or Ishum's Reach. It could be like one of the Distant World expeditions, but with a landgrab/race element.
I wonder how this will affect PowerPlay. If we can form an unbroken chain of inhabited systems all the way to Colonia, couldn't powers fight over those systems? And wouldn't that mean that PowerPlay will eventually reach Colonia? That would be really neat. I'd actually bother trying to expand Li-Yong Rui's influence the whole way just so I have a thousand more places I can get double exploration data money.
Until we know what materials and how much are needed to start a colony it makes sense to keep the number low. While the range for the location might only be 10ly, I'm imagining that the actual materials you'll need to collect for building will not all be located 10ly away. If the amount needed for everything is such that you need a FC to haul everything to the location, then it would make sense why the range is that low.
