Jackson Mississippi when I was looking up cities for people on disability for a friend of mine that I was helping has one of the worst public transportation system because most of the buses shut down early and night and the service even gets lighter on weekends. So if you're looking to get around Jackson don't expect to do much of it without a car or a friend who can help you out
The crime rate per capita in Wichita Falls Texas is almost 50% higher than the national. Very familiar with this area. Then Lawton Oklahoma that is not very far from Wichita Falls Texas has a crime rate per capita that is almost 30% higher than the national.familiar with this area as well. Not a lot of apartments in Lawton. The majority are very old buildings. There are a few decent neighborhoods but a lot of older homes that need serious updates in sketchy areas. It is fully furnished - LR, DR furniture, queen-sized beds, W/D, TV, etc. It is about 3X bigger, much nicer, and about 35% of what I paid in rent on my apt. near Downtown Dallas. The city that has great mass transit - bus ride $0.30, taxi ride is typically less than $2.00 (no car needed). Dining-out for two is typically less than $20. One should note for this list that Lawton, OK and Wichita Falls, TX are only a few miles from each other. It's a very nice area to live in. Also, Killeen, TX and Waco, TX are pretty close to each other. I grew up in Waco and my Mother lived in Killeen.
Too bad. None of those places appeal to me now since Im ready to " hang it up"..... except Lynchburg and Erie. But thats because I've been to those places. I lived in Dayton too but not interested in going back. Erie is cold and expensive to heat in the winter. Lynchburg is the winner!

El Paso is about one of the cheapest US cities I know of any given day I can go on Craigslist and find an apartment for rent in El Paso under 500 bucks a month that is in El Paso not the Mexican side of the Border. Also if you're on disability they're disabled bus pass for a week if you qualify is $3.50 a week one of the cheapest public transit cities I know. The downside is public transportation is mostly once an hour throughout the system a few buses are once every half an hour but not a lot and they have a quick bus that runs every like 10 to 15 minutes down Mesa most party getting around El Paso on the bus is not the best it is not one of the more friendlier cities to those who rely on public transportation also El Paso the bus is usually cut off about 9 p.m. so don't expect to be out lady unless you want to Uber home or have another way

When it was first implemented, the idea was that Social Security was going to be just enough to keep you from being homeless, starving, and naked. The bulk of your retirement cash was supposed to come from your personal savings.
@Christine LaBeach Check the actual text of the speeches by Franklin Delano Roosevelt for proof that I am right. FDR said that Social Security was supposed to be an income floor. He also said that if you wanted more than subsistence living in retirement, you had to rely on personal savings.

It would be interesting to see recent updates of the TX border towns on rents and livability .....
I live in Hot Springs National Park AR, it's really cheap to live here. Property taxes are low, utilities are low, we have lots to do here, housing is very cheap. I did live in Birmingham AL, hated it, Houston TX, to big, to crowded, Charleston SC it was OK, Memphis, yuck. My home is just over 2,400 sqft.. In a good neighborhood located in the city. I purchased this house in 2004 for $125K, put $40 in remodeling. Current value $235,000.
4 beautiful lakes, a National Park, most weekend there is something going on. If schools aren't a problem it a great place to live.
What does rent run there
How are you able to live in a national park????
They failed to list all the bridges you could live under if you had to rely on social security alone. There are literally thousands of them.
Great job!
The Philippines is 50 cent on the dollar double your money as soon as you hit the tarmac .
No acceptance of medicare so guam is a few hours away .
South america has nice places too.
As far as the usa its got to be warm have public trans and maybe near college towns for free or discounted medical and don't tax social security or pension.
One should note for this list that Lawton, OK and Wichita Falls, TX are only a few miles from each other. It's a very nice area to live in. Also, Killeen, TX and Waco, TX are pretty close to each other. I grew up in Waco and my Mother lived in Killeen.
Great video, there is one more opportunity. Retire outside of the USA, American dollar goes a lot further in other countries
Iam retiring in the Philippines as soon as air travel is possible
@@markmessick9856 I'm looking at Mexico or Thailand.
It would be great to add the best states to live in for the same reason.
Too bad. None of those places appeal to me now since Im ready to " hang it up"..... except Lynchburg and Erie. But thats because I've been to those places. I lived in Dayton too but not interested in going back.
Erie is cold and expensive to heat in the winter. Lynchburg is the winner!
Thank you, keep up the good work.
Thanks, will do!
Interesting, but really narrow search criteria, but I guess if you own nothing and are looking to live of SS alone, then things like state taxes won't mater but heating bills would in the norther choices. Also cities are not necessarily the best choices
for retirement. No mention of crime rates either.
Ty! I wouldn't want to live in Any if those. Sad. I'm sorry for the one living in their Car!! God bless and Help you!! Only way I can make it is Family,!!!
Most SSI checks are only $900 .
Mine is lower 😢
@@candylaw1780 It's okay as long as you paid off your house and you have other sources like 401K.
Augusta Ga is low rent,
There no c in Akron Ohio
No, but thank you for your time and effort, on all.
How would a federal Housing Voucher factor into this considering it is either increased or decreased depending on the area you're moving to?
Most places have senior places and also you may be able to find a rent-subsidized place that goes by your income
Well, sir, thanks for the list. I have to say that none of those places would be a good place for me and my family. Due to weather conditions, I will have to stay put in Florida. But the Philippines is also very high in my view.
Iam retiring in the Philippines as soon as air travel is possible. You can live very well on social security
I found Florida to be way too expensive, especially just on SS. I’ve lived in south Florida and north Florida 30 years
@@rhondasview1230 The key is to find a wealthy retiree in the Villages.
The downside is public transportation is mostly once an hour throughout the system a few buses are once every half an hour but not a lot and they have a quick bus that runs every like 10 to 15 minutes down Mesa most party getting around El Paso on the bus is not the best it is not one of the more friendlier cities to those who rely on public transportation also El Paso the bus is usually cut off about 9 p.m. so don't expect to be out lady unless you want to Uber home or have another way
Interesting program. There is no letter c in Akron Ohio
He must have meant the acorn farms in central ohio.
Bet it is not Minneapolis Minnesota!
I can live on my 955 social security in Wheeling, WV.
Just a note, Ackron, Oh. is misspelled. It should be "Akron, Ohio".
Thank you, very interesting!
I hope that you update this soon. Things are changing quickly.
MANY HAVE TO LIVE IN THEIR CARS. VANS. HOW CAN ONE MAKE IT ON A 77O DOLLARS CHECK? THEY CAN'T IT'S SAD😯😯😯😩😩
You get exactly what you earned. The sad part is people that failed to earn.
A stay at home mom ... fails to earn.... 40 hour a week worker who makes less than 40k a year ... fails to earn One size does not fit all
@@mn2mx563 A stay at home mom can get 50% of her spouse's social security benefit when they are eligible. That can be a nice chunk of change, but you must apply for it SS will never tell you about it or automatically give it to you.
Why isn't any cities in South Carolina or Florida on the list??
Why would anybody want to live in a city, give me information for living in green acres in the country, where I don't have to watch my back and can run off vermin with a shotgun, I have lived in Lynchburg, Va. years ago, small city, still got to watch your back, live out side in the county now, looking to move to Appomattox County which is more business friendly than Campbell Co. and Lynchburg Va. Lynchburg, Va charges around 10 percent food prepared tax, Campbell Co. started doing the same, don't eat out much anymore because of that. Some places in Lynchburg are not old people friendly.
Almost all these need a snow shovel. To shovel snow or phentanol.
Thank you for sharing this wonderful information. Please continue with your great inspiration for all 🇺🇸🇱🇷🙏
Did you not check anywhere west of Texas and Oklahoma? Or they (we) just aren't on your radar.
Did you even check the western states I don't know how big your city's are I from Oregon moving back to Pendlton pop 17000 most likely one of low cost city in Oregon can't afford to move home Portland/Tigard area
Hi Devin.Love your channel. I plan to retire early at 62.My dob is 11/29/60 . If I submit 3.5 months before 11/29 to get early payments would my first SS check be in December or January 2023 ?
That would be AKRON Ohio - no c in the name. You are right. Cheap and good living here.
QUESTION,,my wife died at age 63,,she was retired already, im 56,,can I collect her benefits? Thanks
Are the rents for 1, 2 or 3 Bedrooms?
Hey Devin, the volume on this vid needs to be louder, check it out. 😊
U left out a big item about lawton, ok, its home of ft. Still ok. (Which the lagest field artillery base the military has) also it's my understanding it the 1st post to go west. The old fort is still there. Also geronimo cell is on post. Use to be people could visit these places on post.
Actually…I did include that but screwed it up so it had to be cut in post editing 😂
@@gwillis01 So, as your comment, how many retirees have personal savings?
@@TriNguyen-ug1qv Saving money is possible if you make it a priority, You have to want to do it intensely. Those who can plan ahead and believe in delayed gratification are able to save money.
Those who believe in self indulgence without thought for the future will have to work until they die on the job.
@gwillis01 Knowing FDR, it was just the highest amount he could get passed by Congress. He was a nice guy, but he used a lot of politicking and bs. in the process of getting things done.
Where?
Great video topic Sir!👍
What's the medium SS pay? With rent around $800, I don't know if you can really live on SS alone.
Forget it. If one is going to rent then something went wrong. One has 40 years to pay off a house be it a small townhouse like mine (1400sqft). I paid it off in 13y and now inflation is working on my favor not against me. Buy Don't Rent is the key.
If you half your check for rent plus pay utilities car insurance phone bill fuel for car your in big trouble.
What about states that charge taxes on your retirement payments?
Ok Devin, here we go, I hate to differ with your, BUUUTTTT, FLORIDA INDIAN RIVER CITRUS is #1, as has been for around 100 yrs now. We grow Oranges, Grapefruit, Tangerines, an a whole host of other fruit. I ought to know a I live in the county of INDIAN RIVER. Had to be one of us that stuck up for Florida, Lame. Thx for the vid
And if you want to keep it that way, I highly recommend you not tell people that.
@@jeffa7671 Its to late, our northern cousins found it already, think like NY'ers, lol. Oh well, can't blame them for wanting to be here to.
Sorry but I still disagree Texas has been the BEST, but there have been recent freezes that have hurt Texas Citrus at times. My dad was a federal fruit inspector in the 70s and we always had the best in those days
I disagree with this all these places are terrible high on rent how could you afford to live in any of the places on one person ss. Impossible!!
Many things are considered, not just rent. You can go to many small towns in Missouri, Kentucky and Tennessee and find rent for $400 dollars, but the nearest hospital is over an hour away.
Thanks
Bro it's like you read mind I was just thinking of this
If you move to McAllen, TX you better learn Spanish. No joke, my sister lives there and most people speak Spanish.
Why the heck Im I moving to Florida for. No Florida city on the chart.
what you save on cost of living and rent you will be spending on a car, car insurance, energy bills, taxes. Lot's of those on social security are disabled or elderly and don't drive therefore any savings they earn on rent goes to other shit
Even the fly over States are starting to get expensive. Greedy landlords are the culprit. I don't want Government in my bed but they need to do something about rent control or were all gonna be homeless.
People that receive $1000. A month can’t afford these rents
"Ackron", Ohio?
I like your info, but it's hard to hear you.
You didn't mention San Antonio Texas
Red states ... or in VA's case, pink.
VOLUME IS VERY LOW.....
