I think the discussion on Drake V The Culture is interesting, because if Black consumers of music are an indication of how the culture’s feeling, Drake is still up there. This is why he’s played at Black clubs and gatherings, on Black radio, but most importantly Black Artists are always mentioning him as a source of inspiration. All of that for Drake more than Kendrick. He’s the culture, his take and give is even. I don’t think the culture will be his demise. If anything it’s his embarrassment of a team (or his “need to be the overseer” mindset). But realistically Drake’s not going anywhere. Especially looking at his involvement with UMG as more than an artist.
