Cavett's interviews are some of the most informative and personal views of public figures of the 1960s, '70s and '80s that we have today-- real historical treasures.

It's a shame this doesn't have more views! Dick Cavett is a genius.

One of America's finest conversationalists and raconteurs.

Recently, I have become enamored with watching his interviews on this fine site. Wish I was around back then to watch him as they aired. Some really great stuff.

Finally got round to watching this after saving it in my feed for years. Dick Cavett's show was one of my favorites growing up (I was obviously too young for the originals - I watched reruns), and I've always admired how intelligent he (as well as his show) was. Glad to see he's still going and keeping himself sharp.

Thank heavens for the internet and then thanks for RUclips. Otherwise, being in the UK, growing up in the fifties and sixties, I would never have come across Mr Cavett. Why am I glad that I have? Because it has taken me to some of his shows, which are wonderful - he a marvellous host, a catalyst without hogging the stage - and because it has introduced me to a delightful, self-effacing, intelligent, witty human being par excellence. By delightful, I mean just wonderful to listen to. I'm so glad to discover he is still with us. I will be introducing everyone to him imminently. It will be the best Christmas present they get this year. Possibly ever.

Marvelous. Loved the comment about McCain and Palin - 'he aimed low and missed'. Could be saying the same today about Biden and Harris.

Always a pleasure, you dialouge well painting stories off people, places; as I do as an artist, painter that is. Guess you didn't know that! Be well always.

I found Dicks interviews recently, about 3 years ago, with Mae West being his guest. I find his manner and approach very easy going and interesting. He came across as a man who was genuinely interested in his guests. Janis Joplin was another viewing that was done well. His ability to communicate well was very apparent and placed the attention on the guest , not the hosts personality. Something that is very much lacking in todays hosts. Sadly his style and legacy seems to overshadow the attempts of what is available now and makes me wish for an equivalent I could watch now. Good to see he is in good spirits. I did not know his struggle with depression… although I would be more surprised in our world who didn’t have an episode at some time or another. 😊

It's really too bad that Bruce Lee wasn't on his show. He was supposed to have been there but he died some weeks earlier.
It would have been one of the most interesting people that I know of on one of my favorite talkshows! :-/

Dick is so good at conversation that I’m bored a little by this format

Yeah it's a bit zen, I guess. The upside is that although I find the man really witty he's also very subtle - and the relaxed pace allows my brain enough time to pick up on a lot of hidden gems that I might otherwise fail to fully appreciate. So I just breathe deep and savor the vibes.
