Fast forward 34 years, and the very same thing has now happened to Kathy's son Ben in the very same room.
💔💔💔
I just watched the episode and it’s left me shook :/
this is what EastEnders should always be like. gritty kitchen sink drama.
I keep meeting her in Tesco having got the guts to say hi lol
@no name i heard she is a lovely person i got her autograph a few years ago
Can’t believe Wilmott Brown is back. Nobody had seen the guy apparently since 1992 and hes back in 2017 haunting Kathy once more.
The music playing in the background when Den finds her on the floor makes this scene all the more sad and haunting.
@The Death March Willmott Brown had a rotten taste in music. I bet he was a fan of Dido as well.
James Wilmott Brown is playing Side A of the Elkie Brooks ‘Pearls’ album from 1981. When Kathy and James argue, you hear ‘Superstar’ and ‘Fool if You Think It’s Over’ (Tracks 1 and 2) then when Den finds Kathy it’s moved into ‘Warm and Tender Love’ (Track 5). Clever attention to detail.
@@francofan100 I only liked Pearl's A Singer and Sunshine After The Rain, the rest of Elkie Brooks music was tedious. She was quite tidy, though.
Den may have been many things but he was so good to Kathy and looked after her during this ordeal
Anyone here to see who this guy is and why he has returned to the square?
Sean Nielsen stop being nosey see what happened to the sphynx in eygpt
Sean Nielsen I was too young when he was in EE in the 80s. But I remember him from 92.
@@anonymousidentity2024 his character got killed off last year
Its brilliant for the show to bring back the very same person to play the same character after over 25 years of absence. I wasn’t even born when this guy was last seen.
Poor Kathy she didn't deserve what happened to her I hope 29 years later Willmot-Brown will admit what he did to Kathy
ellenkingsley doubt it. He never believed he did a thing wrong.
Rapists are in denial they don't believe in the truth.Willmott Brown only believes he loves Kathy and that Kathy never wanted him
Collette Post Exactly!
He never denied it per say. Just didn’t think anything was wrong with it
And now her son got the same faith 🥺
The return of wilmott Brown
Am I the only one seeing some young Boris Johnson similarities here?
wjp666 Wilmott brown probably voted conservative
😂😂😂
So JWB is going to become the mayor? Ohh no!!!
No, actually! Hmmm....!
A Tory posh guy
I love his voice - his accent was so seductive. Unfortunately, in Eastendersland, if you're not a cockney, you'll turn out to be a villain.
Messylin Typical Tory that's why.Sleaze was rife and the Lefty BBC loved to make the Tories villains in shows.See the bad Cameron on Emmerdale...
2:40 - 3:05 No-one seems to have noticed that the same loop of audio is used. 'LEAVE IT AHT! I'M WARNIN' YA! LET'S 'AVE IT! KEEP YER 'AIR ON, LADS! LET'S 'AVE IT! I'M WARNIN' YA! LEAVE IT AHT! I'M WARNIN' YA! KEEP YER 'AIR ON, LADS!'
Stephen O'Donnell yeah😂😂
Classic ‘80s yobbo dialogue!
The filming and acting style is so different than it is today. Even though Eastenders isn't usually referred to as 'classy', you do get that sort of feeling from this episode (I'm talking about the acting and their accents by the way). It's like watching a clip from an English 80's period-drama movie, I prefer it.
Kai Johnson It was exactly the Thatcherite yuppy era Young Upwardly Professional Person is what a Yuppy is.
And after a lifetime away, he is back.
That was difficult for me to watch!!Poor Kathy!
Cheryl SmithC this was the 2nd time her character was raped.
Chimpanzee Kathy's back story was, she was raped at 14. She was abducted off the street by her music teacher. He drove by in his car and pulled her in. She got pregnant as a result. Her daughter showed up in 1988. Her name Donna Ludlow. She kept her identity a secret at first but then eventually told Kathy who she was. She wanted to know who her father was. She mistakenly thought they were in a relationship or something and that Kathy knew where he was. Kathy then admitted to her the circumstances of her conception. Donna was devastated.
Chimpanzee you're very welcome! I was too young to watch it then too. I faintly remember Donna from 1989, although I was only 4 lol. But i found out the info from old clips. Agreed, a lot has happened to poor Kathy.
Chimpanzee I was born in 2004 so my mum thinks I'm too young for this kind of stuff, I watch it anyway.
ComplicatedPanda I started watching when I was 5 back in 1990. My mum was watching it too, so I'd just join her. It was when Phil and Grant first arrived.
wilmott Brown is back
had to come see what happened on the night, they both were having a chat on tonights episode
this makes tonight episode far more interesting
Narcissistic man who couldn’t take no for an answer.
Cathy was just being polite when in hindsight she should’ve been very rude and dismissive; I get why some women have that demeanour around men now; a girl was like this with me and if it happened now I’d have much more courage to be very assertive/rude/insistent on NO.
He is back 20years later
Esther A 25*
29 years, 30 years next year.
Mo Shah no it wasn’t you idiot it was 25 years
Anyone who watches eastenders now(2017) and only came back and watched this to understand the story line coz I’m only 15 so didn’t see this at the time
And now her son got the same faith 🥺
BBC Classic EastEnders ❤
He's such a charmer
Kathy was back in EastEnders Tonight
James Wilmott Brown was back in EastEnders Tonight
DaviesPlays When Kathy was presumed dead, she actually wasn't. Please let James Wilmott Brown's death be for real whenever it happens!
BUSTY69 yes
I hope ben is not dead
can't wait for kathy to comee back. she maybe coming back in 2013
Think he was the one who left a floral tribute for Steven yesterday ( really to get at Kathy).
On tonight's episode of eastenders he came
For any horror movie geeks, the movie that Pauline is sleeping through is the excellent 'Fear In The Night', a British Hammer movie from 1972 starring Judy Geeson and Ralph Bates.
@921ifyable
Phil did go after Wilmott-Brown when Kathy was having nightmares about him in '94 but he found he was back in jail for the same crime.
This isn't how I remembered it
😞
Watching it now ........
hahaa Ive come to see who this is after tonight's episode 😂
July 1988
Pauline having a bloody snooze.
oh right, thanks x
Remember when the 'Dagmar' burnt down!
charlotte luker To do with the Firm and Den
Is The Chairman involved with The Firm and will Phil be in a showdown?
"You're just a slag, like Angie or Pat." ( Ian Beale to Kaff )
Well, words to that description.
What james willmott brown did to kathy beal was bang out of order he should understand the word no when kathy say it
I had to come here to see who this guy is
How can Pauline sleep with all that noise from the telly?
alex jones is that all.you can say? Lol
Claire 01 No, just a side point. Of course it wasn't the main point, tho!
I sleep like that it's easy to fall asleep
You'd be surprised. I can't but my dad can easily.
My mum's dad liked to take a nap every day.
Is there anymore early episodes of EastEnders ?
Loads, all over RUclips.
Who the song by in the back ground when den finds Kathy
Who’s here after tonight’s episode??
lol me 😂
yep, i needed to know
Me WILMOTT BROWN!!!
Me!!
Me
Love her
I haven't watched EastEnders in years but I did watch Kathys return scene. I just wish Tiffany could come back too (original Tiffany)
***** Such a waste of a fantastic character.
BucklandsP3 they'll probably find a way too bring her back from the dead as well as Ronnie and Roxy.
Jakey Jake. Big difference - we actually saw Tiffany, Ronnie and Roxy's deaths.
And it was similar to Danielle's
I hope ben is not dead after james wilmott brown son luke attacked him in the arches 😢😢😢
yeah I don't know hmmm have to wait and see
He can't be ... He is too young
Adds more into last nights ep
He sounds like the Donald Donaldson character on Fonejacker
Never a
'Poor Lean'
when you need
One?
me too!
Wilmott Brown was a successful businessmen, so in the eyes of BBC writers, he had to turn out to be a baddie.
Boo Radley Tory baddie
Boo Radley Ian Beale and Phil are too
@@veggie42 Yeah but they're not fucking rapists
Had to come here to find out what went down all those years ago.😱
Jakey Jake. Nice profile photo
Collette Post Thanks.😃
I don't know about that but he was a superb actor to deliver such bloody awful banal lines. What happened to him?
randomdave30 He's back
TUNE in the background
If Kathy's brother Ted was around then it would of been Willmott brown burning not the Dagmar. He would put James in hospital for what he did to Kathy
He might be back?
What the music in the background when den finds Kathy please
Warm and Tender Love by Elkie Brooks
They had longer scenes back then.
Kathy vs James
I needed to come bk on here to find out his lies on today’s episodes ...his character is proper manipulating like his son
Bad man
Aired 7th july 1988
It's not real it's only TV
I Never Understood This Scene Why Kathy Didn't Hit Him Has Her Left Arm Was Free On His Lower Arm. She Could Of Easily Hit Him In The Face To Stun Him Or Scratch Him In The Face With Her Long Nails and She Could Of Ran Off Outside
People always say that, why didn't you hit back, why didn't you knee them, scratched them, etc. The thing is you think you would do that, you even get taught to do that, but you just freeze, your body just becomes unresponsive and you just can't get it to cooperate through the fear coursing through you. But even if you find the strength and fight back, they'll fight back harder.
So That's how it happened
when was this episode?
7th July 1988, so almost 30 years ago
I wasn’t born then
she my auntie :)
this and the programme that showed the aftermath were shocking for their time.this certainly changed opinion on rape, and think it may have been one of the first times rape by someone you know has been broadcast.
Amandamoo73 And it was also featured on Brookside
@@veggie42 Brookside did it 2yrsd before with Sheila. In fact, Emmerdale (Farm) was probably the first to do it but it happened off-screen and the victim was killed
@@Hulk2k6 I think most important part of the original comment was ‘by someone you know’, that’s why this storyline was so important, it opened the discussion about rape that went further than a story about a stranger in an alleyway.
What was pauline watching on tv
Somewhat appropriately, the film she's watching is called "Fear in the Night". It starred Judy Geeson and Ralph Bates.
Can’t Michael moon and heather return from the dead like kathy and make an appearance
@Hulk2k6 Exactly, it's not even that explicit either.
Witching Hour Watershed
Big up wilmot brown!
@comedybenj
Tell that to idiots who ring up Ofcom and whine about violence and drug use and the mildest of language. I swear some people shouldn't be allowed to watch tv/own a phone.
Which is kinda weird due to a Doctor Who-Eastenders where one of the doctors find Kathy and Pauline in 2013 but time can be rewritten
Kathy son ben is going to find out Luke he is going out with is wilmott brown son 😯
Pippa Jones Yep and that's what's worse it's just to control the Beales
No he is too young
No mickey richardsons because that rape was in the same year donna came to eastenders donna's dad was when kathy got raped when she was 14
katie pratt Donna was addicted to Heroin and that was because of the issues which are relevant today as then
So that is Donna's father.
Mikey Richardsons the first time Kathy got raped at 15 she got pregnant by the guy that raped her
No, Donna's sperm donor biological dad wasn't Willmott Brown
Guess who's back..... Back again..... Rapey's back..... Tell a friend.....
1:16
@liverpool08999999999 Lucky u we both hve relation on eastenders n corrie st u related 2 gillian Taylforth and i am related 2 pat phoenix off corrie =)
I can never understand why soap characters in this situation can never pretend to go along with things just for enough time to make an escape - I know it's not like this in real life and rapes can be very brutal, but in soaps the rapist is usually very obsessed with the person and so t would be very easy to trick them.
The ‘tricks’ of escaping such a situation weren’t talked about as much in 1988
@nightfox215 no she died thats why ben went t live wth phil
alastair phoenix She appeared to die because Gavin her next husband made her because of debts and abuse
Ian Lost!!
tahh vasquez still the case 9 years later o.O
She is. Lol.
@Minniminxy Did she get preganat????
newr97y57 Not that one
It could have been worse. She could have been *graped.* By a bunch of 'em. 🍇
EASTENDERS S1988 • E354
1:30 Kathy should've kicked or knee'd him in the groin
James fancies kathy.
Nick Russell No he doesn't. As I said in the spring when Keegan was saying he'd raped Louise because he 'fancied' her, that is NOT what you do when you fancy someone!
alex jones It is. Of course it’s not the right thing to do by any means and is very very messed up, but rapists either rape someone because they fancy them and can’t stand the fact they can’t have what they want or because they want power. And whilst a lot of people rape for the control/power, it’s be objectively wrong to say that’s the only reason why people rape.
No he fancies POWER
So he's always been a bad actor then
Project Dagmar! 🤤
I love Kathys feet.
Kathy was always a teaser a wrongun
Anyone think jay could b Kathy beales biological son?
Hide Barnes no lol Kathy had 3 kids - Donna, Ian and Ben.
Donald Trump
lmao james acting is awful too over the top lol
I think Kathy was to blame just as much as James as she had lots of chances to just walk out but she stayed and she gave the wrong signals out.. The thing I found shocking was how James found her attractive enough to even bother.. No that was 6 of one and half a dozen of the other as she led him on quite a bit and she did go upstairs with him.. And if you had of seen all the many episodes leading up to this one then you would know what I meant by leading him on.
It doesn't matter what she did before this. It is still rape. She did not give consent.
that doesnt not matter about she had affair of before this what james did that was sill rape beausce she did not give consent. and rape can happen in different ways
She's not to blame at all. Rape isn't about attraction, it is about power and control. She did nothing to deserve it, she did not lead him on and him raping her was not her fault. Stop being so closed minded and go and educate yourself.
What utter nonsense no one justify it.
Since when did the phrase 'please let me go now' mean 'have sex with me immediately'? Idiot.
Anyone who watches eastenders now(2017) and only came back and watched this to understand the story line coz I’m only 15 so didn’t see this at the time
Louise Martell 2018 !
