I also didn’t mind this movie at all compared to its 27/100 metacritic score. It wasn’t scary in the way that some people were expecting I think. But it was very unsettling in concept. Like you said, for millennials this is everything we’ve been warned about coming to roost. I think it’s better explained as a feature length Black Mirror episode
That's a perfect description. It felt like a made for TV mini series. Reminded me of the old Outer Limits stuff. The ending for sure had that feel. Sort of soft-handed hopelessness that won't keep you awake, instead of the sting of something super violent that makes it hard to sleep.
