50:00 for the zoologist hyrax 🙂 glad you approved of it, one off the 32 niches i own. I will look into the lesser known bottles that score higher in your opinion, so as not getting sucked into the mainstream view.
Half the value i get fromma the zoologist is the charm of the animal and the paintings which gives the bottles their personality. Also helps me get in the right mood when applying. The boxes are tasteful enough to place around my home as decoration.
I think Salome is the best use of Hyraceum in a perfume I have ever smelled... but than again I think Liz Moores is a genius 🤌🤌🤌

Amazing haul. Honestly I even thought my amouage figment was a fake even though I picked it up in store. Bottle and label seem a bit odd on mine too
I can tell by the smell its real... just so happy its one of the older bottles 🤗
Probably the only time a wonky label put on by hand signifies it's the real deal!😆

Just had a look at the TSVGA site but seems they're all out of 'Fiona'. Shame, I would love to try that..I really liked 'Hyrax' - it reminded me of the countryside. But 'Salome', oh wow. She makes my head swirl.

Great video! I remember looking for videos with someone talking about hyraceum about a year ago and couldn't find any. My favorite hyraceum fragrances are -Fiona and Bortnikoff's -Triad
Never tried either! That is funny though... but on the other hand I am proud to make content that I would want to consume... thats the kind of thing I would do... search for Hyraceum fragrance videos 😂😂😂

I know all this is highly subjective, and we're bias towards the things we feel emotionaly attached to. That said, Salome is much more wearable than Hyrax from Zoologist. But if I would rank the use of Hyraceum, it'd be the other way around. Simply from the fact in Hyrax you get the complete picture of the animal. Climbing the scorched rocks, laying and cudleing the small mammals, while they piss all over you. It's a very dry, Savannah like experience with some amber boozy touches for me. And I absolutelly love it.

There is no proof that Hyrax is a rodent, it's closer related to an elephant (lol ik).

Nice video! As for the "animale animale" you feature in this video- it is the second perfume from 1994. The notes you mention are for the first one from the late 80's , which is called "aninale". "Animale" has more chypre animalic direction, while "animale animale" , which i have not smelled, is supposed to be more fruity sweet and floral. Very confusing with these similar names and packaging...

Just got Areej Le Dore War and Peace today ( £360 gbp ).. Lovely fragrance, not challenging to me but a classy number.. Got Kouros early PPR Gucci 2003 before reformulation and taking me back to childhood.. And have a sample of Hyrax from Zooligist. Mmm not sure.. ))
Yeah I am not sure about Hyrax either... i liked it... but I dont think it was good enough to be filull bottle worthy .... i love war and peace & Kouros though 🤌🤌🤌

Greetings Ramsey,you get a better breakdown of Salvatore Ferragamo Oud on Fragrantica,there is a hint of agarwood oud in it,the iris is actually black irs and there is a similarity between it and Amouge Black Iris as I have a full of Salvatore Ferragamo Oud and a 15 mil of Amouge Black Iris,and I have been watching your channel for a few months now and you do great content,,, POSSUM HOLLLLLLLAAA 💥
Nice I have a full bottle of Interlude Black Iris so maybe that was a redundant purchase but I love having discontinued frags... Maybe I am just a sucker for collecting all things discontinued 😊
I recently too just received the stash sjp and that woman's animale and both are great cheapies very happy with both purchases🙏

So much incredible content. Tonnerre was my baptism into niche, so I’m really looking forward to hearing your thoughts on that. As for Salome , you’d need to be missing a pulse not to appreciate that. You briefly mentioned Meleg. Any chance of an interview with him?
He actually reached out via IG months and months ago and said he was going to send me some stuff but I never heard from him or got the stuff... Mr. Smelly did the same thing 😄🤷♂️
What an interesting and informative video. I really learned a lot about Hyrax, the note. I also enjoyed your haul and it impelled me to spray on SJP’s Stash which I have had since it came out. I knew it is discontinued now and it’s a shame. I also heard that fragrance Lovely is also good but I have never tried it but believe it is still in production.
I do own Musk Tonkin.
I also have Salome, which is one of my very favorite perfumes of all time.
Please forgive my bad english, I' m brazilian, and my english is from school time. I have 60 years now kk. I had this first Animale since it was launched, and I can say with no doubts: it was not reformulated. But be carefull, there is fake one in the market, made in Panamá.

I think you 've made a mistake about Animale. The description you've read is of another Animale, wich has a green bottle cap, the ANIMALE EDP, 1987. The bottle you have is ANIMALE ANIMALE, 1984. Animale edp, 1987, was the first one. It is really amazing, a great animalic chypre.

Glad to see your back Ramsey. I love Opus Vl it has a beautiful labdanum note in it. It’s the only one I own from the Library Collection. Great that you got to finally try Hyrax. Awesome list, I have Fiona, Hyrax, and Salome and I would definitely agree that Salome is the best out those 3 and I 100% agree with your ranking. I’ve never tried Musc Tonkin but I’m a huge fan of MKK so I’m going to need to try it ASAP. Fantastic video as always. 👍🏻

@@RamseytheRam check out the notes and I think you’ll go for it. It came out in 63 so it has that feel to me it’s like a more leathery animalic tabu. The base is.. castorium, civet, honey, leather, oakmoss, leather, amber, musk. I got a pure perfume and a odc for like 30 quid. You can find little bottles for like 10 so your not out much.

Whoa I just got Animale from same place! I think you meant to get the turquoise cap not “Animale Animale”though. I know because I had to research the differences with the confusing names. It’s a gorgeous floral animalic chypre. I love your unboxings so glad you’re not listening to the naysayers. Cheers!

I own a Ferragamo Oud as well. It has nothing to do with Oud. I think their marketing department went with it because it is cool. It's not mind blowing and they probably tried to cash in on Bvlgari Man In Black's success. Could Alberto Morillas be the most copied perfumer of all time because he's been so prolific?

Hyraceum is probably my least favourite of animalic notes. But I agree Salome is one of the best compositions that highlights hyraceum. After hearing your provocative description of the perfume, shall I tell you my wife told me to sleep on the couch when I wore Salome to bed? LOL
You should have said anyone who doesnt like salome shall be the one to sleep on the couch! 😴
Figment man is a pure love & and I kicking myself for not owning it sooner 🌎-y & soil & animalic... maybe annick menardos best 😬
Glad you got a bottle of Unutamam. It's fantastic. I actually wore it today funny enough. I get more of a burnt sugar rather than caramel aroma but I love the Juniper, black Licoricey note.
It's pronounced Oonoo ťamum, very fast. "I can't forget" in Turkish.

Your next Beaufort needs to be: Coeur De Noir, for me it's such an addictive leather fragrance and my personal favourite of the whole line.

Just sprayed some Unutaman on an hour ago and I am really enjoying it so far... does something crazy happen in the dry down that ruins it? But the star of the haul is Figment man... I am wearing this on my other wrist and my God... how I over looked this when I sampled it in 2017 is beyond me! Just goes to show how much more immature my nose was back then ...and why I never sell bottles... figment man is amazing!
@@RamseytheRam for me Unutaman was a no no from the first second lol. I got a blast of patchouli, dirty castoreum and woody ambers but in a harsh, strange mix. Maybe I'll give it a second try (a friend has it). Never tried Figment but if you liked Myths Man and soil notes give Myths Woman a sniff if you haven't... Cemetery Chypre I call it hehe (well done nevertheless)

Very decent haul! The hyrax like the cutest rodent in existence. Like an obese hamster rat turned mini dog. Can't pin that thing. 🤪 Like some ET grad student's genetics thesis that turned out meh. The grade reads "passable due to cuteness." "And feces usefulness in perfume for lesser animal." 🛸 A solid B+.

I've just received my 100ml vintage bottle of davidoff zino which I've never owned because I have a 50ml of tom Ford beau dejour and wow very similar no doubt about it 👍
I prefer Zino TBH ... i have 3 bottles of Zino... none of Beau de jour 🤌🤌🤌
