I tried to set a monthly budget or restrict the number of items allowed monthly in the past but it wasn't successful. I made a progress when I started to implement no-buy months and create wishlists. Last year I had 5 no-buy months, purchased 11 fewer items than the previous year and overall spent less on clothes. My goal for this year is also 6 no-buy months and so far is going great, feeling very positive about it. The online world loves extreme challenges, but they are often unrealistic and unattainable. I think it's important to take small steps and gradually work on breaking your shopping habits. Don't be too hard on yourself, you are doing great.

Don't kick yourself for not being perfect - you're doing a great job of re-engaging with your goals with your Insta challenge! Sticking to a low-buy is a lot easier in January/Feb, post Christmas gifts and when you probably have a robust selection of winter garments already. It gets harder with a change of seasons when you start being bombarded with new styles and pieces from retailers, influencers etc. I went off the rails a bit myself this season with Sezane as I just loved so many of the dresses in their Italian collection... That said, I reined things in by muting notifications from most of the retailers I have accounts with - you can't buy it if you don't know about it! The Celine bag was totally worth it - gorgeous!

We used to clean patent leather shoes with banana peels. Wipe them with a damp cloth to get rid of surface dirt. Then, rub the inside of a banana peel all over the shoes. Really rub it in and let it sit for 10 or 15 minutes. Finally polish it up with a clean cloth. I don’t know why this worked, but it did.
I am doing a low buy and I am buying only stuff that I really need (I have been buying exclusively second hand clothes since 2018). Since the beginning of the year I have bought a light spring/summer jacket, a pair of sandals, a pair of loafers, and two t-shirts (and got one free). I have been participating to clothes swaps though and got some very cute pieces (a cardigan, two blouses, a skirt, some tops, a tweed blazer, two pairs of shorts, and a fantastic coat!). I am very satisfied about my wardrobe.
Katie, I totally feel you. I had set my low-buy rules back in December and managed to follow them through until March - I even watched your video from last year! I realized that starting my own channel definitely hasn’t helped me much either 🫣 I’m looking forward to your 75-days challenge, my bank account would’ve loved it if I could join you but I’m already planning to splurge a bit on an upcoming trip 🤪

75 hard challenge sounds great, I love trying to be creative and appreciating the clothes I already have. I haven’t done an official low or no-buy before, but I don’t really want anything at the moment or have a wish list, so I think I’ll join in on a no-buy now too 🙌
Hi, I’m also doing 1 item/ month low buy this year 😊😊 I was doing well until now. This week I’ve ordered 3 more items .. 2 from my shopping list, 1 random impulse buy. All on sale which is why I couldn’t resist. So… no shopping for me until August.. ❤❤

Hey! A Low-buy is definitely difficult and rules are always a must! :) Also you need to give yourself some grace as it sounds like you are monitoring your spending in a reflective way. I'm using Indyx at the moment as my outfit documentation and it is super helpful! AND fun :)

I have been trying to cut down on all my purchases and pay off all my credit cards and save some money and just use what I have , I do have a lot of clothes ,shoes ,and make up. I decided to do a closet clean out (sold most of my Sézane collection and other items) and no buying anything new. 🫣I hate to admit that I have bought some new items. I’m still proud of myself as what’s gone out is more than what I’ve bought.
Love this! My low buy since Jan went as well as it could i.e. could have been way better. Concidentally, I've also finally gotten serious and started the 75 challenge a week ago! Here's to valuing what we already own and practicing shopping WITHOUT buying. Good luck!

You are adorable. I wish I had your discipline. I really have too many clothes, but I can't resist that shiny new item when I see it and tell myself just one more to complete.my wardrobe. In my defense , most of my purchases are more classic pieces in good fabrics which will be worn for years !Best of luck with your low but goals .

My no buy was for the first 4mons of this year. Its been well, no no buy because of Sezane… I’ve bought 10 pieces since Jan with a few more on the way. It felt like with the spring drops, I just fell in love with everything. I also bought a few pairs of jeans as well. Ugh I must stop!

Glad it’s helpful!! Ahh I love the Cubi! I think I may as well do a dedicated review video on it. But yes it’s super easy to use! I guess the only negative is it’s a light coloured canvas so a bit more high maintenance than leather.

I have the rule of 1 item per month as well but it doesn't matter if it's new or secondhand. So far going as intended, probably because I'm short on money and not having enough money prevents me from buying 😅 The problem is now I have exams coming up while I'm short on formal clothes and my summer wardrobe is basically lacking EVERYTHING (my only sandals literally fell apart, my t-shirts stretched to a disgusting shape, my last year purchases went bad because of material or practicality,...). I might need to do some shopping out of necessity but I have no idea how I'll be able to afford that as I'd like to invest in something good quality.
I would love a review of the cubi! I keep looking at it, but hesitate. Haven’t seen it in person.

I definitely broke my low-buy streak with the last two months. I have some regret pieces in my closet that I was looking to replace with better versions when I find them. I just so happened to find them this last month 😅 I’m telling myself it’s okay since I’ll sell the regret pieces.

What size is your Chamade sweater please? I have my eye on getting it. I have the Amore, Baci, Pasta sweater in S but thinking about getting M for a more loose fit. Is the M still quite fitted, if that is what you have?
Yes I have the M and would personally go for the L if I was to get it again, mine was a gift so didn’t choose the size. It fits fine but I’d like it a little slouchy and oversized.
