I got so sick of nuisance phone calls (and bored during lockdown) that i decided to do an experiment. I had a drawer full of old dumb phones, so i put a new sim card in each, then told various people and organisations my new number, being sure to keep track of who had which number. After about 4 months i changed all the numbers and repeated the experiment. Both times it was the number i gave my doctor and dentist that started getting nuisance calls within days. I don't know how useful this experiment was as i'm pretty sure now that sales people, scammers, etc just work their way through every possible number. But it's interesting that i got the same result both times.

At least the DMV only sells your name and address. Even pharmacies and law courts will sell your contact info.

Also mine was just leaked, there was an AT&T breach in 2021 (dont use them but whatever), but it seems now it is coming up for consumers.

Okay, I don't know if this is what they are asking and please don't h8 me...i have to use google one for various reasons, and one is dark web monitor, and it does show me if my phone number is leaked.

Crypto will never go completely illegal in the US for one very basic reason - there are lawmakers, politicians and justices profiting from it. It's the same for the speculative market. It's also the same for huge monopolies. And this is likely to only get worse, as it has been over the past several decades.
