I have a trc 457,im shooting skip one day ,all day on channel 38 lsb,then near the end of the day i noticed when i key up the number 38 fades when i key up ,then i noticed on the meter it was not transmitting on both am and lsb,so now i have this 457 that does not transmit and the numbers fade almost to dark when I key up,any idea what the heck happened ,the first time i have had a problem in the ten years that i have owned it
Hi Mike.....I am on my 2nd ebay trc-457...first has no transmit and the 2nd only has 1 watt output....can you tell me how to check and set the bias on this radio?

I got a service manual...it does not show how to connect the neg/po leads from your multi meter
Now that you have the manual, READ it. It says specifically "connect current meter in series with circuit at TP4".
Yeh..I read the procedure....where I am not sure is which goes where...does the neg lead from the multi meter connect to the post or to the wire ?

looks like you have the red lead to the post and the black lead to the wire ?
