  • Rabbi Naftali Silberberg grew up on shlichus in Detroit and today lives in Crown Heights where he is the co-director of curriculum for JLI and host of the Let's Talk Tanya podcast.
In this episode, we trace Naftali's years in yeshiva that took him to Oholei Torah in the late 80s and then to Kfar Chabad, where he discovers a life long love - almost despite the yeshiva - for the study of Tanya.
We discuss what makes the narrative of Tanya so unusual and how a thoughtful study of the Torah Shebichsav of Chassidus makes it more, not less, relevant for our own day and age.
Presented in honor of 18 Elul - the birthday of the Baal Shem Tov and the Baal HaTanya.

Sefarim say that one can connect to a deeper realm through stories of tzaddikim than through their Torah. That’s how deep stories are.

Weird question for a Yid to ask, "why would someone leave 770 in the nuns", ie you're asking *why would a Yid go to Eretz Yisroel when he can rather than stay in NY????" I mean what kidn of a a question of that why would someone choose to stay in galus (physically) when he has the opportunity to go to EY to learn

I was a 9th grade student of Rabbi Naftali (at Chovevi mesivta) and my parents had just gotten divorced. The Rabbi quietly invited me to his purim seudah and also invited at least one other boy who it was clear wouldn't have a proper seudah but he also had many other guests so none of us felt like nebachs he probably doesn't even remember this story but I do 19 years later. Great guest for this important podcast.
