Nice demo mate. Vox is making a lot of great stuff these days. My neighbors want me to have an A.C. 30 or at least a fleet of pathfinder amps. Or both . This mini 5 looks like a lot of features in a small package. Great for someone starting out or for small practice space. Good job John.
Well done John. I've got mine yesterday (but not in the classic design, but it works the same way) and I'm a bin fan of this VOX mini from the first moment I press the power-knob.
I have one coming any day from Sweetwater. I have a 15 amp Vox , a small Orange MicroTerror, and a Roland MicroCube already but I wanted an amp that kicks out some drumming to practice with too. After researching a number of small amps which might be good to power cigar box guitars I have been building, I decided on this one. Glad I made the right choice. I admire Chickenbone John's opinion about a LOT of things.
I previously had a Vox DA5. Many reviews say they are better than the Vox Mini 5. I found the effects on the DA5 too difficult to work out. Each had 3 variables controlled by buttons you had to push while turning a knob. I never had any idea where the settings ended up. Find the Mini 5 much more intuitive.
Hi John. Does the Vox have the same nonstandard, PLASTIC guitar input jacks as the Roland microcube and microcube GX ? Roland's jacks self destruct and then the amp has to be sent in for service, as they won't send out easily replaced repair parts as they used to. That's NOT very good customer service IMO. I'm hoping Vox didn't go cheap on the input jacks as well.
I've had a MicroCube for over 10 years and cracked one of the retaining nuts on the rear jack, but found a replacement from my parts bin without a problem. Vox use what looks like a plastic bodied panel jack with a chromed steel insert.
Not so difficult if you keep the pedal bass pumping with your thumb. This is one of the tunes that always attracts a lot of people to our stall at Glastonbury!

I just bought a used Vox Mini 5 Rhythm. It's a really good piece and I'm very happy with it. For home operation it is fully sufficient
Thanks for the review. You did much better job of going over the features in under 10 min than any other review I've seen so far.
Appreciate it.
Thanks for the video John. It’s good to see a review like this. Very informative
Ive got one, its great and gets alot louder than youd think it would

That's cool.. I saw another great video on how to install a footswitch to turn the drums on and off.. sweet!

Thanks for the video i only build four cbgs and your opinión is important, love your cbgs,
Do you think this amplifier is better than the Nux mighty air. ??
I've got no experience of the Nux so can't say.
Thank you for answering.
Is it loud enogh for street busking?
Nice! Howloud this amp can get? I thinking playing outside in the streets.
It's plenty loud enough for busking.
@@ChickenboneJohn Ok, thank you!
Status Quo on a Cigar Box ! BRILLIANT. 👍. 🎵 🎵 🎵
Hi John does this amp have a decent shuffle or 2 in the rhythm feature?
The;'s not a dedicated "shuffle" rhythm..but Vox have stopped making these amps anyway.
great
That's bostin' sounds a lot bigger than it is. These small amps either sound hollow or like a cheap fuzz when driven.
