I realize you don't need or want my approval, but I'm very impressed with your channel. you're a couple of years younger than I am, but your ideas are brilliant. I get a ton of great ideas, and education from you. thanks
cool addition to this would be to make two compartments in the sheath. that way when you take the leatherman out the bits holders don't move so you don't have to fuss with them when you but the leatherman back in
Someone just donated 30lbs of leather to my shop because I make.. This and other leather videos of yours have inspired me to get the tools and get to making leather projects! Ty Jimmy!
Good video. Just recently I learned about how finishing the edges and corners of the leather with a chamfer will prevent cracking, tearing and looks much less "rustic". You can do it with a razor, a power sander or a special tool called a skiver. For sewing I use a sailmakers palm to push the needle, triangular sail needles and polyester thread coated with beeswax. Even when I use a rake to punch the holes I strike a line w a pencil so my stitching is nice and neat.
I always watch youtube videos at 2x speed... you know... many youtubers don't really know how to edit a video, or how to go straight to the point. Diresta's ones makes me change this setting... he doesn't waste our time.
Nice build, like always! What I always like to do when it comes to sewing leather, is to make a V groove along the thread holes. This way the thread falls into the groove and is less prone to wearing out over time, due to friction with clothing etc.
Makes the one I put together last month look bad, but it is doing the job of keeping the parts together. Just used 2 scraps of leather and stitched pockets for the clone leatherman and the knife.
+ Jimmy DiResta. You got a good result with that unusual moulding technique but it will go much easier if you soak the leather for about 20 minutes then leave it in a plastic bag for a few hours (even overnight). The leather becomes almost putty like in it's moulding capability. You would only need to make the block and mould it over the block and pin it to the baseboard . Leave it to dry and you are ready to finish it.
Great video! I always like watching your leather working videos...you use creative ways that other traditional leather workers don't. I'm looking to get into leather, so I like seeing different methods.
Jimmy, i know you showed it in your EDC video, and like you I am always sitting my tape measure down and forgetting about it in the shop. I think your solution is genius having it on fixed on your belt. you should do a video on your tape holder!.. unless you already have and I missed it. keep up the great work.
I carry all those leatherman bits everyday, plus a Skeletool. I bring them in an Altoids Smalls in though, along with an extra AAA battery and some odds and ends. It fits in the "watch pocket" of jeans. And yes, all bits fit in there! The size is roughly comparable to 2 AAs shrink-wrapped together.
Yet another educational and inspirational video. Oh, and can't fail to mention entertaining too! Coupla of questions: 1) where'd ya learn all this cool stuff? and Where'd ya get the leather from?
Very cool, perhaps make the flap narrower though? If it were closer to the width of the bit it covers it may be less likely to catch on stuff as you walk past or whatever
Great stuff. You should have added a strip of elastic band to separate the tool from bit kits. They are always in the way in my case, and I use them very rarely, which is, I think, a common case.
Nice pouch. You seem to end up with alot of scrap material like wood, metal, and leather when your done with projects. Maybe make a video about using the left over scraps and stuff?
Nice work Jimmy, the mold took really well. I'm surprised how well the edge detail stamping embossed, most leatherwork videos I see people wet the leather to soften the fibres, but you seemed to still get a nice strong impression
Awesome as always! May I suggest a leather working tips video! I'd love to get into using it but know nothing of it....apart from what I have learnt off you lol keep up the good work!
All the comments on here are idiotic. I made one with out any of the fancy tools and mine came out amazing. I built a mold, shaped it, soaked and former the leather. Sewed it, dyed it and then embossed and engraved it. Oh and burnished it with a piece of plastic I had laying around. Everybody on here is so blown away by this guy, he's really fucking good, not taking anything away from the guy, but geezus guys, a little research and some elbow grease will get you almost anything you want.
I do agree that his leathercraft work is a little shoddy, but I guess his talent lies in his ability to improvise and do things quickly without any screw ups. Other than that, his woodcrafting and metal working is really good considering the relatively short amount of time that he spent on his project. In my opinion, it'll be great if he does spend a bit more time on their finishing though.
You know how I know Jimmy's videos are awesome? Because I hit the thumbs up button before I have even watched them.
Diresta videos are the best part of youtube.
I just love how this guy can turn his hand to anything. The guy has skills and amazing ones at that! Top work fella.
Love how you make these things so accessible jimmy. I’ve got a leatherman coming for Christmas. Now I’ll have an ace case by the new year 🤙

Exactly what I was about to comment until I saw you'd covered it already LOL

This is the most satisfying video I've ever seen
Badass, Jimmy! Thanks for showing more leatherwork. You show it in a way that's pretty accessible such that I want to give it a shot. Good job!
truly... the King of clamps !!!...great job, as always !
Jimmy always has the coolest videos!!!
Jep :D
Mhmmm

Also, a wooden polishing stick with bees wax is a great tool for getting clean and polished edges on your leather
Good tip sir.
Excellent. Gonna have to try this again.
I love 3.20. The clamp holding a clamp holding a clamp
Simple stamping sure helps draw the eye in. I just ordered myself a stamp set. Nice work !
Makes the one I put together last month look bad, but it is doing the job of keeping the parts together. Just used 2 scraps of leather and stitched pockets for the clone leatherman and the knife.

Good to know.
Thanks! I'm going to make a holster for my son's Nerf pistol, and if you're right, that will make it much easier.
You make it look Sooooo easy !!! Great job Jimmy Hopefully I can visit your shop some day
Great video! I always like watching your leather working videos...you use creative ways that other traditional leather workers don't. I'm looking to get into leather, so I like seeing different methods.
I needed some inspiration to do some leatherwork, thanks!
EXCELLENT work Sir.
And, a great video.
Thank you, Sir.
Oscar
i have one of those utility knives youre using in this vid its by far the best one ive ever owned, dont think they are made anymore which is a shame
Looks like you need some thicker thread. Good build as always! Love seeing you build and learn along the way.
Nice triple clamp action on the sow up, always nice to work at a comfortable height
Beautiful work
Every time I see you cutting things on the band saw at high speed it freaks me the hell out. Regular speed no problems :-)
No "DIRESTA" stamping? I'm surprised! Great video as always, Jimmy!
That is a very nice sheath.
Jimmy, i know you showed it in your EDC video, and like you I am always sitting my tape measure down and forgetting about it in the shop. I think your solution is genius having it on fixed on your belt. you should do a video on your tape holder!.. unless you already have and I missed it.
keep up the great work.
Nice improvised stitching pony! :)
Once again, awesome! Thanks Jimmy!
I laughed so much when you threw the wooden pieces of the mold :D nice vid !
i glued those two bit holders together, makes handling them much easier.
Wonderful vid... love to see the leather stuff. The "Poo-Pourri" ad before the vid only makes it better, really. Much love to Jimmy D!
loved the tossing
This guys a legend
Excellent work
LOL, love the little modelling shot at the end.
AWESOME!!!
Thanks for sharing Jimmy!!
I really enjoy these videos

You just gave me LOTS of ideas. Thanks for sharing!! : )
MADE IN THE USA!! Great job Jimmy!!
As I always say, You have soo cool toys...
Nice ! Thank you for inspiration.
That circular chisel was perfect, but it's one of those things you never see and probably rarely use.
It's called a hole punch dude, they are used to cut holes in rubber and leather
Thanks dude
it's actually one of the most commanly used tools in leatherworking
***** Interesting. I haven't seen them at my local leather shop while glancing at the tools.
seanautube
oh, do you mean the big one @6:17? i was talking about the smaller one @6:30, yeah, that one is a bit more specialised
Have to start some fun with leather tools. Nice Make: Jimmy!
Thanks, more inspiration for me to do this to do a upgrade sheath for my Super Leatherman.
Incredible Jimmy!!! 😃
Nice job friend.
Legend has it, this is actually slow motion.
Fantástico, lo voy a hacer para mi navaja suiza...
Nice. Love how you molded the leather!
Been waiting for this video
sublime job as usual bro'
Yet another educational and inspirational video. Oh, and can't fail to mention entertaining too!
Coupla of questions: 1) where'd ya learn all this cool stuff? and Where'd ya get the leather from?
Nice work!
Jimmy should just make a utility belt for all of this take alongs. Just like batman!!
Schweeet! Very Inspirational Brother! Have A Super Week!..... Gus
really came out great! 🤓
The Diresta "utility belt" is coming along nicely.. Batman
I like how you didn't add a finish to it....it looks cool like that...awesome work!
Nice. I made one for my wave. I like a clip rather then a look as its easier to take on and off. Wish i had filmed it now.
A custom "batman like" utility belt would be a cool build. Diresta Utility belt and Signal light.
Adam Savage made the best leatherman sheath EVER!
Pretty.
that's brilliant
the best from the best
Pure inspiration jimmy, love it!
This guys got some skills ! Love watching your vids 👍🏻
Very cool, perhaps make the flap narrower though? If it were closer to the width of the bit it covers it may be less likely to catch on stuff as you walk past or whatever
I have some leather tools around here somewhere .Thanks for the inspiration. Peace.

Feliz 2019!

What a nice idea!
Very cool!
beautiful
Very nice !
ALL of the clamps!
definitely: excellent work!
Very cool.
I thought for sure you'd stamp DIRESTA on it somewhere!
Next video, making a tiny DIRESTA brand out of old broken tools.
Cool stuff! Gotta get into this myself
Nice work Jimmy, the mold took really well. I'm surprised how well the edge detail stamping embossed, most leatherwork videos I see people wet the leather to soften the fibres, but you seemed to still get a nice strong impression
Beautiful work!

Good VDO. Good Content

Great job as usual! I only wish that leather was as cheap here in Greece as in the U.S.
Definitely ends up on my "to do" list
* "to do next year" ? hahahaha.
+Ian Kyle Maturan oh, right, didn't I mention that? ;)
How did you learn to work with all the different materials that you do? And what is your favorite material to work with?
This would be cool to do with a thermoplastic, like kydex
What Jimmy doesn’t make he find it in the streets of NY!!!
