There is a lot of controversy on this song on how it's played.
There are two main points, first is whether it goes E-D-A or to E-D-Db/C#
I think it is the latter.
This video at 2:03 and again at 2:15 shows cliff playing the Db/C#
• AC/DC - Back In Black ...
The second is how to play the fast bit from B-Ab-B-A-B-A#-B-B
In this video: • AC/DC - Back In Black ...
we can see Cliff Williams play it around the 2nd fret, not with the pinky on the 7th of the E.
This video is an isolated bass track of Cliff playing. He changes up some stuff from the record, but he does do the "pointless" jump from 2 on the A to 7 on the E so that he can slide out.
• AC/DC - Back in Black ...
Same in this video at 1:28 : • AC/DC - Back In Black ...
also it looks like towards the end at the bridge he plays the riff with the guitars off the 7th fret, but I can't quite tell because there are only a few frames that show it.
I like playing it from the 7th on the E a lot better personally. You can choose yourself how you want to play it, but I did it in the video as I think Cliff did, though it it quite tricky to do that way.
In the chorus, the 16th rhythm could probably be written using triplets if it's easier to read. I wrote it out so the start of the beat is clear (rather than dotted eighth notes).
Thanks for watching! Enjoy :)

Hi Everyone, I know for the section that is B-Ab-B-A-B-Bb-B-B that I don't have it tabbed out the "popular" way where the pinky is on the 7th fret of the E and you play 7-4-7-5-7-6-7-7. The reason is because Cliff doesn't play the song that way, even though it may be easier to learn. Cliff follows the guitars in how he plays that part and you can clearly see him play that section here: ruclips.net/video/j5rGm3kdTuk/видео.html
Well done! Yep
I like that attention detail. Great work so far, brother.
It's interesting that the breakdown doesn't seem to follow that pattern, though. According to your tab, it goes on the same string, rather than alternating A string to E string, as the guitars do.
This guy smiling the whole time makes this video so damn good.
As amazing as this song is the baseline is very easy and simple but at the same time great and amazing cliff Williams doesn't get the credit that he deserves when it comes to being the bass player for AC/DC he's underated in my book.
Agreed! The lines he plays always fit the song perfectly
Thanks man I really appreciate you putting this up! Was having trouble with the bluesy lick after the solo but this clarified it for me. This tune and album are truly timeless.
My pleasure! I’m glad I could help you out with it :)
Paul Gilbert has just revealed a startling discovery about the bass part in this song. Listen very carefully and you will notice that the lowest note of the chromatic, ascending, turnaround in the verses is not a G#, but a G! The guitars play a G#, but the bass is a G. Amazing!

Sick!!
🤘
Superb !!!
Great job, thank you!
Not gonna lie, this is pretty difficult for an ac dc song.
It's not so bad until 2:59 kicks in 🤣
It's easier to ay on bass then it is on guitar correctly cause you gotta nail the Angus style bends and vibrato which is different then the normal way to play vibrato and bends he does it just a little different where it gives him that unique tone to his bends
keep practicing bro you’ll get it down
I’m a beginner bass student and I got to learn this, and I’m not using tabs, just sheet music 🥲

That’s a grace note. You switch from the 10 to the 12 really quickly
@@SamboatMusicBassCovers thank you so much 💕💕💕💕
Looks like that Fender cabinet still has the ole tagger on it. Just imagine the sustain on it. But, you can't look at it. It can never be played. Never.
Halland?
He looks more like a younger Gilmour with shorter hair.
Like a doctah
Herling Haaland Play Bass !
AC/DC remember Metallica? 150-350 beats per song☠️☠️
Whatever you do, don't cut that hair \m/
I dont like the C# part of the main riff its not what the guitars are playing it feels werid
Cliff likes to play the 3rd sometimes
I know i just feel werid when i play it so i play A
he's not even playing
Wym?

555,444.....555,000....is what he plays....no idea where ppl got this 555,444 every time thing from but it seems to be spread like a plague....just listen and you can hear its wrong.
The riff is played like that on the the recording. It sounds odd when it’s in c# instead of g# but that’s how Cliff Williams plays it.
