How Much Money Did Our Outdoor Boiler Save Us? Huge Improvement!
HTML-код

- We make a huge improvement to our Wood Master LT90 outdoor wood burner and it made a huge difference in how much wood we burned. We also share our electric bill from December that shows how much money we saved in one month by installing this boiler! Wood splitting, boiler fixing, and I get a shocking reminder not to mess up when working on the boiler!

Always nice to save $ so we can buy more Woodyard toys . Not having to buy oil has saved us thousands with our boiler .
Oh yeah, they definitely save a ton of money and we keep the house at a more comfortable temperature! I’ve only bought propane twice in 8 years here and should never have to buy it again now.
That intro😂! Well played.
Thanks Bobby, figured it’d get some laughs.
It's rare that the price on something seems surprisingly low, but getting that entire door for that price...wow...seems like a bargain. Glad it's working out so well for you guys.
Steven, I agree. I was shocked when he told me the price. I thought it’d be double that. It’s made a huge difference in lowering our wood consumption too.
My stove at camp is a little warped and so I also use a couple pieces of metal to help keep the latch tight.
Yeah sometimes you have to do what you have to do.
Your opening scene brought a tear to my eye, I previously said I lost 3 chainsaws in my garage fire but found out I lost 4 I lost my echo too
Oh man, hopefully insurance gets you taken care of with some new equipment.
@@hardworkingmanoutdoors bit of a point of contention with the wife about that , she says I can replace 1......we'll see 😁
@dch923ster you need at least 2 it’s a rule lol.
@hardworkingmanoutdoors well I haven't mentioned to her that my rancher and my 372xp were in my workshop and not the garage so I'm keeping that under wraps for now 😂
1) Great introduction 2) What a shocking experience 3) 33% savings is fabulous. Great video HWM & HWW!!
Thanks Obie, I hate getting shocked but do it a lot! I’m a slow learner. We’re definitely happy with the savings!
Rachel that ending line was hilarious!! 😂
lol thanks Ben.
Yes i admire you guys saving money while you're young, cause Doctor's Hospitals, Drug Stores gonna get the most of it later.
I never thought of that when i was your age.
MAKE A COPY OF THIS STATEMENT AND POST IT ON YOUR WALL SOMEWHERE
For sure, thanks.
We appreciate you as well!
Thank you!
Go Rachel Go, Dat my girl. Hi everybody You see why I rename this channel to HWW. She the one dat can do it all.
Yes she can.
The opening scene...too funny😅
Glad we could make you laugh!
good video and job. they do save you a lot of money you can bent the inside rod they get so hot they will get looser over time. new door looks good. i save over $3.000 a year. both of you take care, be safe and well.
Thanks, we love it!! Saving us a few hundred $$ combined every month and living a more comfortable life.
hi there thats a big bill mine was 119 last month and i thought that was high , and sara wont let me hook the boiler to the hot water heater , but we keep the cars in a heated grunge and the green house , good savings mgood show ,best to all .john
Thanks John, yeah our electric bills are always high! The electric dryer and water heater are two of the reasons. We’ve overcome the water heater now we need to address the dryer. May replace it with propane when this one dies.
hi there there are ways to make them less wistful john @@hardworkingmanoutdoors
I had bought my wood boiler back in 1998 and its still going.. i usei it to heat the house and 1 shop and got it piped into the hot water tank in the house for hot water. Since it runs all summer long i made a heat exchanger for heating a swimming pool too... if i used lp to heat the 4500 sq ft home it would take me a tank a month at todays prices that would be 700 to 800 a month for 5 months in minnesota. When i got mine it was 4500 for the stove and concrete slab it sits on.. only thing i had to change on mine was the door seal every 5 to 8 years and 2 bladders for it and 1 thermostat regulator.. maybe 700 bucks over 26 years in parts.. well worth the investment 100%
Jason, that’s awesome! We plan on running out all summer as well. Hopefully it lasts us a while. We really like it.
@hardworkingmanoutdoors it should last ya a while.. just keep them ashes cleaned out to prevent rottting of metal. Another trick to them is running them at a lower temp on your water.. alot will say run em so water is 160 or above.. ive ran mine at 130 and below.. and it keeps up just fine and dont burn as much wood and keeps everything cozy.
Nice savings on your bills
Thanks David.
😂 A lot of humor and funny mishaps in this one!
Heath, I jumped when you got shocked! I wasn’t expecting it any more than you were, and I always thought it was a woman’s feminine figure that made them look good in yoga pants, but you looked just like Rachel 🤣🤣🤣
Rachel’s middle name ought to be Joy because she brings so much joy and humor every time she’s on! Everyone’s smiles and laughter 😊
And the wood boiler looks like it was a definite win!
Scott, not sure if you knew this but her middle name is literally Joy 😂. I hate getting shocked! It doesn’t really hurt but scares me every time!!!
@@hardworkingmanoutdoors 😳 WOW! Jeez Louise I should’ve bet the lottery today!!! 🤣🤣🤣 Her mama named her right though!
Rachel you were flat getting it done splitting that wood. Awesome job girl. Congratulations on the decrease on the electric bill. I’d take that any day. lol. Y’all stay safe warm and be careful. Keep up the great work. Bruce in Wv!!!
Thanks Bruce, and yes she does!
That $100 is only your savings on electricity. That is not even counting the savings if you were using propane or oil for heat instead. We have had an outdoor boiler for almost 2 decades now and I did keep it going all summer for quite a few years when all the kids were home. Now that it is just my wife and I it has been shut down during the summer. With energy bills up again I have thought about it but after this many years I am mentally done dealing with it around Memorial Day. You have made a wise choice especially if you have a good supply of free wood.
We definitely save more than $100, that was just electric. We also keep the house more comfortable. We have all the free wood we should ever need!
Nice. Video s
Thanks Ralph.
Hahaha, good one. That shock treatment you received did you some good, made you laugh immediately. Great saving on the furnace so far.
Yeah it did, didn’t hurt but it scared me and I don’t like the feeling. I tend to do it a lot though. I’m too easily distracted.
Use Rec gas, 90 octane, no corn alcohol in it. Especially in air cooled engines. During cold weather add isopropyl to eliminate moisture. Happy wood life.
Thanks Dale, I run only rec fuel in all of my equipment it’s the only way to go! May have to try the isopropyl additive.
And great job on the saw Rachel.
Thanks Kenny!
Nice savings on electric bill!!! Really like the bucket you were using on the Kioti!! Stay Hydrated and Have a Safe Day
Thanks David, I agree with both. Saving money and that giant bucket is a great tool!
Tech tip. I work in a Deli. I'm the Deli MAN! If you can smoke a HAM off bone very decently in Cherry Wood. Slice it in 3/4" slabs best you can (before smoking). It's excellent for pea soups, or Pot pies, any soup!~ Believe me! Flavor! I never did the math for Off peak with my brick heaters, I take it by faith. Wood is for when it's brutal/frigid up here. Barring grid down or power outages.. Nice tights Rachel, what can I say! Haha.
Thanks Brian, so far we’re loving the savings and warmer temps in the house as well as the unlimited hot water.
Well, you save 33% on your electric. The other thing is how much would you have normally spent on propane? And it sounds like you didn't have to get propane at month
Kent, we don’t buy propane often. We’ve lived in our house for over 8 years now and have only had to fill up twice. We were using our wood burning insert for most of our heat but now with the boiler we use that for heat and hot water. We’ve also been able to keep it about 6 degrees warmer inside with a more constant heat and unlimited hot water!
I was also wondering about propane savings.
We saved a little on propane but hard to say how much. We have lived here 8 years and only purchased propane twice. We used to heat primarily with the wood burning insert which when we did the furnace would kick on overnight using propane. However with the outdoor burner the propane hasn’t been used at all this winter. So we’re definitely saving on that end too.
It’s nice to get the boiler dialed in. The new door looks great.
Thanks Robert, it’s so much nicer.
nice intro substitution, but the 4 way vs 2 way wedges, hat and pants give it away.
We had a big height difference to overcome as well. We did our best lol.
Hey gang - Captain Obvious here!! Those yoga pants are a damn sight better on Rachel 🐇 than they are on ol' Higbee(?)!!!
😂
Oh for sure! You definitely don’t want to see me in them.
Great savings on the power bill. Nice new door. You can tell it’s closing tight.
I kinda thought the intro was a little strange. 😂🤭🤣😂😅🤔🥴🤦🏻♂️
Have a great day team. 🪵🪓🔥
lol thanks Noel, hopefully you got a good laugh out of it.
@@hardworkingmanoutdoors I did 👍🏻👍🏻👋👋
At the .57 second mark, I screamed worser than when I saw the shower scene in Alfred Hitchcock’s “Psycho”. I may not sleep well…
lol, I too screamed when I got shocked!
Great intro…I’ve viewed it several times….now what was the video about😀. I appreciate u sharing the boiler $ info, if it works for you and your area go for it!👏🏻. Keep the videos coming🇺🇸👍🏻
Thanks Larry, hopefully you got a good laugh out of it!
I had to stop here to say that aint right, That aint right what I was thinking during that intro. Now to the video.
lol, thanks Chris, we thought we’d try to have a little fun with this one.
Hey Rachel and Heath , the new door is nice , congratulations on the 33% savings . That is awesome !!! 👍🏻🪵🔥
Thanks Del, we are getting much improved burn times with the new door and absolutely no smoke leaking out any more!
We live in Texas so I don't need a boiler, but to save money we had solar panels installed and they cut our bill by more than half and at the time we did it the government gave us a 3rd of the cost in income tax breaks. We too have propane but we have a fire place that we lite on extremely cold days.
Jimmy, I looked into solar here before. We definitely don’t get the Sun you do. It was crazy expensive here so I didn’t think it would have been worth the cost with our weather.
Shocking episode. 😅
lol, a little too shocking for me.
Shocking how much you saved. Keep up the good hard work!
Shocking indeed lol. Thanks Greg.
That intro was great 👍. I heat my shop with a boiler and yeah the firewood is a little work but that low power bill is well worth it. Plus I love working with firewood so it's a win win!
Same here! I enjoy making firewood! The fact that it saves me $$ is a bonus.
Ok….. when you screamed, you made me spill my beer.
lol, sorry. It was definitely a shocking experience.
Hi Heath and Rachel. We received your sticker a few days ago. It’s so nice to clean up and use up crap wood. Get it cleaned up. What is the brand name of your pickaroon? Thanks so much for the shout out to our channel. Super savings on your electric bill. Later you guys.Al and Chris.
You’re welcome, the pickaroon is an Ochsenkopf and I’d say it’s my favorite with the log rite being a close second.
I tend to use the hookaroon - like you do as well - towards my legs. I need to concentrate to swing it from left to right (or vice versa) instead of from front to back. I once missed a log and it was so close to my shin that I thought: this might have gone terrible.
Oh yeah, I’ve had a few close calls but so far I’ve escaped injury.
I really like your videos! Be safe! 😀
Thanks Ken, have a great weekend.
You were talking about water in your gas if you're using ethanol gas it attracts water with the alcohol mixed I recommend stabil stabilizer I have used it for years when I worked on lawn mowers and stuff in my repair shop and it done a great job. And can use seafoam in your gasoline or diesel fuel to help keep your engine clean and your carburetor and it's a stabilizer I use it in my car and my small engine equipment now that I am retired.
I only run rec fuel in all of my equipment! Ethanol free.
Great job guys! Awesome video👍 I need a OWB, sure is saving you lots and getting the woodyard cleaned up!!👍💪⚡️
Jeremiah, you’ll love it! Rachel is super glad I bought it and that’s not always the case when I come home with something lol.
The $100 saving on power is great, but to be fair you’ll need to work out the costs for fuel and consumables. Even if you don’t count the cost of wood or labour or machinery you will likely have netted a $50 saving for your winter months.
We actually save more than that because we didn’t take propane into consideration. When we used our indoor stove to heat the propane would kick on every night and we haven’t used that once since installing the outdoor burner. We also keep it warmer in the house, our humidity is better, and we use way more hot water knowing we aren’t heating it with electricity anymore. A lot of the wood we burn is the waste we get from the wood we make anyways so it’s a win win for us. But you’re correct there is some cost associated with making the wood.
😂😂😂😂😂😂 love the new yoga pants 👖
Thanks, glad you got a good laugh.
That’s awesome really love that😊
Thanks!
Great Intro!!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🪓🪵🌲🪵🪓🪓🪓👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks!!
I've heard that wood boilers are 10 times more efficient than woodstoves
Anthony, we love this thing!
Nice savings on the power bill. Mine was 64 bucks for January. Normally little higher but hasn’t been much of a winter. My house I try keep heated will wood. There is electric heat in the basement to keep crawl space warm. Ps I definitely don’t wanna see hard working man in yoga pants. 😂. I going to have to make a table when get my splitter. Keep up the good work.
Thanks Dan and you’re 100% right, you don’t want to see me in Yoga pants!!!
I have an indoor wood furnace I like the extra heat I get from it but would prefer an outdoor boiler. I get tired of having to fill it every 3 to 4 hrs.
Brian we used to heat primarily with our indoor wood burner. But we are much more comfortable with the outdoor burner! Warmer temps, more humidity, and only have to fill it about once every 12 hours. Not to mention unlimited hot water!
Love the allwood!!
It’s a beast!
Rachel tell heath to get his own yoga pants 👖 😮😊❤
Todd, you don’t want me to have yoga pants lol.
Dude, that is freaking hilarious!😆🤣😂😅😄👍!
Thanks John.
What you guys did in the beginning of the video had me laughing so hard I had a coughing fit lol 😄👍
She is working on some real muscles!! Be afraid, HWM, be very afraid!!
Oh I know, believe me I know.
HAHAHAHAHAAHA that intro!
Thanks Elliot. We add your sticker to the table as well. Thought we’d have a little fun with the beginning.
Good stuff Heath and Rachel. However I have ? First I assume your local utility provider is fairly reliable and y'all don't experience outages much. My ? is do you have the means to circulate the heated water into your home when you lose normal power?
Thank you. We do have a generator and a few solar power packs so we can keep it running if need be. We used to lose power occasionally but it’s been pretty solid the last few years.
I liked the fanny intro
Thanks JB.
I love burning up the junk wood in the boiler...big, small, ugly, if it fits in it makes heat👍
For sure! It’s definitely helping clean up the Woodyard!
Get one of those picaroo things to move logs onto the splitter instead of reaching your body in the path of destruction
Yes we use them sometimes.
Well done . Maybe with the money you saved . You can get Mike Morgan to stone your driveway.
Thanks Jim, that would be neat! I do plan on adding some stone for sure. So far I have brought 2 loads up to our property for the driveway up there.
I found slag was about 1/3 the cost of lime stone. Packs like concrete.
Great video and news of your energy savings!!!👍 Curious if the yoga pants the camera man showed us are on the HWM apparel site. AND, does Rachel know the gas station where we can get some dry fuel if we need it???🤣🤣🤪🤣lolol
Thanks, and no there aren’t any yoga pants well not yet. Definitely needed some dry gas to get the ol All Wood back running smooth lol. We were definitely happy with the savings, I wasn’t sure what to expect.
Sorry Heath but we can tell that wasnt your butt in the yoga pants. I never put silicone over the top of my boiler door seals. Just make sure to have extra rope on hand for replacing when needed.
Bert, I have no butt lol.
Never turn the power off ! hahahah
I hate getting shocked! But still leave the power on more often than not.
Great for cleaning up woodyard waste too! I have 6 cords of crotches and cutoffs in a 40 yard bin and no customers! @#%^&!
Definitely a huge help in cleaning up the Woodyard!!
I was wondering if you had hot water baseboard heat? I inherited my mom's estate and the fuel oil is almost $3.40 a gallon. I'm going to invest in a hot water boiler and eliminate the oil or just use it as a backup. I plan on timing the hot air to run through the existing ductwork and the hot water for the hot water taps. I know that your boiler is set up for circulation at around 160•,right. Since you have hot water baseboards heat then I was wondering if you had an expansion tank inside and on the hot water lines going to the hot water taps did you have to put mixture control solenoids on all the hot water faucets? Did Rachel say you ran natural gas before getting the wood boiler? If the public service commission will tell these utility companies no when they want a rate hike that would be nice. I don't know how people make it or no wonder they just don't go to work. I can't do that neither do I want to. I'm going to be 65 in March and I don't think that I will ever stop working for myself. Thank you Heath and Rachel once again for choosing Hard Working Family to come into our homes. Stay safe and God Bless
Thanks Stephen, we have forced air heat. So we have a heat exchanger for the water heater and then another one in the furnace. Before the outdoor burner we heated primarily with our wood burning insert in the fireplace but when the furnace would run it was burning propane. It usually only kicked on over night or during real cold spells. No the propane never kicks on. We also keep it 6 degrees warmer than we used to and our humidity is much better. The boiler runs between 160-170 degrees. We haven’t installed any mixing valves but it wouldn’t hurt.
🎉
Thanks.
Lmfao great video today
Thank you.
Saw is 4 strokin' giv'r
Yes it is, I need to lean it out a little.
That transition would have been better if Heath was wearing the same pants.
Taryn, that’s on the paid sight lol.
Rachel, you look a lot better in those yoga pants and he does lol
Yes yes she does lol. You definitely don’t want to really see me in them.
@@hardworkingmanoutdoors that’s right Heath lol that’s a scary site. Definitely watch your channel all the time you’re funny you guys are both funny.
Question I’m interested in a GoPro what one do you use and mic.
Hank, I’d definitely not recommend GoPro. Our main camera is a Sony ZV1. My next action style camera will be the DJI Action 4. The mics we got are brand new to us and are the DJI Mic 2. We were using the Comica boom mics but started having too many issues with them.
@@hardworkingmanoutdoors I will check them out thanks.
Just checked them out I’m just starting that’s a little over my head thanks for the info.
@hankjordan2602 if you have a good phone camera that’s how we started. Just the iPhone. For mics check out the hollyland lark mics. I know a few people run them. Not sure on the cost.
@@hardworkingmanoutdoors Thanks but I don’t have a cell phone I live in area that doesn’t have service so i see no need for one

Me getting shocked?? Or the intro?
💪👍
Thanks.
I’m reminded of the scene in “Ace Ventura - Pet Detective” wherein he discovered that Lt. Einhorn was a man…that’s what I experienced when you turned around instead of Rachael 🤢🤮. You shouldn’t do that to your friends lol
lol, thanks Mark. Hopefully you got a good laugh out of it. We tried to match up how we were standing when we swapped positions but forgot about the height difference. I’d say it still turned out pretty well. Hope everything’s going better for you and things are looking up.

Heath always repair something, bad luck must followed him around if he got no luck at all . Market place keep him up 🆙 on repairing things . Rachel your still the fastest lady around splitting firewood 🪵 at 3/4 troller 😊.
Thanks Leonard, always working on something and yes, Rachel is faaaaaaast!!!
