One comment I've come across many times by guys who weld steel buildings is that (short circuit) mig is not approved for structural work. Structural being stick (or flux core). I think it depends on the settings and the gas used, as well as the technique of course. Just curious what your settings were and what gas you use. I have an idea of what I would set the welder to, over 23 volts, somewhere over 400 ipm. Gas would be 90/10 argon/co2, or 90/8/2% o2. If I could turn the frame sideways to do the sides I would go 26.5 or 27 volts, 550 ipm, and spray it together.

How ide was the scab plate? 6"? I missed where you made the template. Thanks
Was the original driveshaft put back on or did it have to be replaced?
Had to be made shorter and balanced at a driveline service shop
Why drill those holes out you have a plasma cutter?
I needed a new plasma tip
